About the Hotel

With its brilliantly white Art Deco-style façade anno 1923, storied Majestic Barrière Cannes epitomizes French Riviera luxury lifestyle along tony Boulevard La Croisette. Located across from the red-carpeted Palais de Festivals, where Hollywood A-listers strut their stuff during the famous film festival, the hotel Grand Dame wows guests with an expansive lobby dominated by dramatic champagne-colored columns, twinkling chandeliers and polished antiques-furnished seating areas. 265 brightly elegant rooms occupy a total of 7 floors and sleek dark-hued furniture is smartly balanced with crimson splashes and eye-catching floral images in gilt frames. Rooms provide must-have gadgetry like Bose iPod docks, wireless Internet access, plus flat-screen televisions, and, for the no-delay pick-me-up in the AM, Nespresso machines are on hand. Black marble-clad bathrooms show off equally dapper design and are kitted out with separate bathtubs and showers as well as bespoke toiletries.

VERY BAD! أسوأ تجربة فندقية في حياتي – لا أنصح به أبدًا!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 5 days ago

ابتعدوا عنه تمامًا!** We arrived at the hotel at around 6:00 PM after a 6-hour drive, only to be told that they had accidentally sold our room to someone else. They apologized and promised to upgrade us to an even better room than the one we had originally booked. When the room was finally ready, we were completely shocked. We had paid nearly **€10,000 for a 7-night stay**, yet the room was **under 25 square meters**, had **no balcony**, and barely had enough space to walk around. The staff were rude, especially the older French woman at the reception, whose only explanation was, **"human error."** We had booked this stay **1.5 months in advance**, so this excuse was simply unacceptable. They eventually moved us to another room that was only a few square meters larger and located right next door—even though she had insisted the hotel was completely sold out. On top of that, guests have to **pay for Wi-Fi**, **€75 per day for parking**, and **breakfast wasn't even included**. To make matters worse, the omelet station uses the same pans and utensils for pork products despite the large number of Muslim guests staying at the hotel. This shows a complete lack of consideration for their guests. The hotel itself is outdated and poorly maintained. One of the elevators was out of service throughout our stay, resulting in long waiting times. We checked out after just **24 hours** and were offered **no refund, no discount, and no compensation whatsoever** for the nearly **€10,000** we had paid. We didn't even receive a genuine apology or a smile from the older lady at the front desk. **I absolutely cannot recommend this hotel. Save yourself the disappointment and stay far away.**

Beautiful hotel. Expensive but well worth it with beautifully appointed rooms and fantastic staff. Great location. Beach and pier are lovely. Ciro’s restaurant is excellent.

most disappointing luxury hotel experiences we have ever had

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 weeks ago

We paid €1,600 per night expecting the level of service and experience that comes with a true 5-star luxury hotel. Unfortunately, this was one of the most disappointing luxury hotel experiences we have ever had. Upon arrival, we were informed that the hotel’s private beach was closed due to an annual lions club event. This information was never communicated before our arrival, despite the fact that access to the beach is one of the main reasons people book this hotel. Had we known, we simply would have chosen another property. When we explained that this was unacceptable, the reception and concierge assured us they would arrange transportation and beach access at another luxury beach club the following day. We accepted this solution. The next morning, the new concierge team knew absolutely nothing about the arrangement. No handover had been made between shifts. After wasting more of our time, they informed us that all luxury beach clubs were fully booked and instead sent us to a very basic public beach area that was completely incomparable to what we had paid for. Instead of a luxury beach experience, we ended up at a crowded beach where people were selling donuts, jewelry and souvenirs between the sunbeds, guests were bringing their own towels because towel rental costs €8, and the facilities were nowhere near the standards of a luxury hotel. The umbrella was tiny, there was almost no shade, and my partner ended up with painful sunburn because of it. After returning, we contacted Guest Relations expecting a professional resolution. Instead, we were offered a fruit plate or a bottle of champagne, as if that could compensate for completely failing to deliver the experience we paid thousands of euros for. Eventually, even that disappeared, and all we received was an apology. A luxury hotel is not defined by marble floors or expensive room rates. It is defined by service, communication and the ability to solve problems. This hotel failed on every single one of those points. The most disappointing part was not the beach closure itself—it was the complete lack of professionalism, poor communication between staff, broken promises, and management’s refusal to take responsibility in any meaningful way. Charging €1,600 per night while failing to provide the core experience guests are paying for is simply unacceptable. We checked out early because we completely lost confidence in the hotel. There are many luxury hotels on the French Riviera that truly understand what 5-star hospitality means. Sadly, this is not one of them. We will never return and cannot recommend this hotel to anyone expecting genuine luxury service.

A truly exceptional stay from start to finish

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

What stood out most was the level of care and attention from the entire team, especially Lorenzo and Fiona, who went above and beyond to make our experience feel personal and seamless. Every member of staff we encountered contributed to an atmosphere of genuine warmth and professionalism. The hotel also kindly accommodated our special request for a beautifully allocated room with a sea view, and every detail in the preparation was flawless — it made a very special occasion feel unforgettable. From service to setting, everything felt polished, elegant, and effortlessly well-executed. We left with nothing but appreciation and would not hesitate to return. A memorable stay in every sense.

At the Majestic Barrière in Cannes, the accommodations were no less than spectacular! The room was very large, nicely appointed, and had a side view of La Croisette. There were fireworks at night over the bay, with all the yachts from places all over the world, below. A fabulous honeymoon we will never forget.
