A haven of warm hospitality since 1816, Congress Hall offers a sublime blend of tradition and elegance. This lovingly restored and expanded monument resides just steps from the Atlantic Ocean, in the heart of Cape Mayâ€(TM)s historic district on the New Jersey shore. In an atmosphere of serenity, you can linger on a sun-drenched verandah, stroll among hydrangeas, or enjoy a treat from the old-fashioned candy shop. Savor a massage at the Cape May Day Spa, and gather with friends over American fare at the Blue Pig Tavern.

Absolutely wonderful, the best of everything. Food, people, convenience, just the only place in Cape May to be.

We are local Cape May people who needed a place when left without power after the recent blizzard. We have stayed (staycations) at the Virginia Hotel but never before at Congress Hall, despite having spent time at the Blue Pig, the Brown Room, and the Boiler Room. We are very familiar with the hotel and were fully aware of the quality of the staff and the beauty of the decor. We only spent one night, but made use of the bar and dining room, along with friends. Our room on the fourth floor had a lovely view out to the snowy lawn and ocean, and the bed was SO comfortable. We would have loved to have stayed longer but our power was restored, so we went home. It was a lovely although unexpected winter break and next year we may choose to staycation there!

We arrived a day before we had planned to beat the blizzard, called and reserved the extra night which they offered at a discount because of the storm which wasn’t requested but very kind to offer. Pulled up during a hard snow but the bellmen came out quickly to help us in with no hesitation. Check in was easy, very welcoming. We are in a corner suite room 400, it’s beautiful, very comfortable, quite, amazing night sleep. Room and hotel all very clean, well maintained. The hotel and restaurants were open thanks to the staff working despite the storm. The managers learned our names, check on us throughout, we were well cared for. The food and drinks were amazing at each location. Service was great. Since everything in town was closed the hotel offered a hot coco hour, had games set up for us to play all day or night. We did the history tour and learned a lot, highly recommend. The fireplaces in multiple locations made the vibe warm and cozy. Had spa treatments and it was one of the best spas we have been to, both my husband and I were very happy with my body treatment and his facial. The management and staff clearly care for their guests and go above and beyond, it really shows. We got married at a sister property 7 years ago but Congress Hall will definitely be the location we return to when visiting Cape May.

I had a wonderful little getaway with my sister this weekend at Congress Hall, one of my favorite places! The room was adorable, comfortable and combined old world charm with comfort. I love the fluffy beds! We had an excellent dinner at the Blue Pig, wonderful breakfast at Tommy's Folly Cafe and fun drinks by the fire with music at the Brown Room. The scene off season was so fun! The Valentine's decorations were SO cute.

We went for 2 days which included Christmas day. I can't fault the hotel but there is nothing to do when everything is closed in the immediate area for the holidays. What I can suggest is not to stay in rooms with exhaust systems and AC units that are on the adjacent roof. The noise from these units never ceases. The hotel even provides ear plugs which we located in the room. Also, if you are going for a buffet event, get there early. Late comers may not get a full selection of some edibles.
