Built as a private villa on the Italian island of Capri, Punta Tragara has played a pivotal role in American and European history. During World War II it served as the American Command headquarters hosting such famous dignitaries as General Eisenhower and Sir Winston Churchill. In 1968 it was transformed into an elegant hotel by Count Manfredi. With just 42 rooms and suites, you will feel more like the guest of a gracious host. Each stunning space is filled with elegant furnishings and a tapestry of rich appointments. Stunning garden or seascape views can be seen from you guestroom window. Modern conveniences and amenities are equally plentiful.

Stayed at Punta Tragara for 3 nights. It’s a beautiful property and we loved the location, which creates some distance from the hustle and bustle of Capri center. You can also easily reach La Fontelina beach club from the hotel by taking the stairs down. Hotel’s pre-arrival communications were very prompt and very much on point. Their front desk and concierge desk arranged for all transfers and dinner reservations. Special thank you to Francesca and Antonio for taking great care of our arrangements prior to and during our stay. As much as we appreciated the property overall and its staff, our Master Deluxe room was less impressive. The bathroom was very large, which was great, but it was at the expense of the room “living” part. There was barely 3 feet distance between the edge of the bed and the wall. The room also came with a spacious patio (and sun beds), but it afforded close to zero privacy so while it looked great, it wasn’t very practical. Lastly, despite supposedly having been recently renovated, the room looked dated and showed clear signs of wear and tear. We shared some pictures upon our departure with the front desk staff. At Punta Tragara’s price point, one would expect true 5-star accommodations. In summary, it’s a great property and it forces you to walk for 10 minutes after dinner, which is a huge plus! But if you find your room subpar upon check in, it’s best to ask to see another room.

We would not return to the Punta Tragara. The location is stunning, and our suite was beautiful, but the staff is unpleasant, with the exception of Federica, who is lovely, and the breakfast staff. Although it has gorgeous views, and is a 5 star, expensive hotel, it is 27 out of 44 hotels in Capri on tripadvisor. I should not have ignored this red flag. There are plenty of other hotels with gorgeous views, and you can also see the Punta Tragara's views from the end of the street (Via Tragara).

Took us back to an earlier era, which we enjoyed - amazing moonlight walk into town- over the Faraglioni, which I enjoyed painting - A true Italiano experience - beautiful suite from another era, & most lovely cliff hanging pool. The room was decorated from an earlier period, & the hotel reflected true italian decor -

We chose this hotel from the amazing photos on their website of the room category we selected. The cost was significant but we felt it was worth it when we booked it. We arrived and were shown to our room which was in the basement of the hotel. It looked NOTHING like the room category we had paid for. There were no full height windows and doors with unobstructed perfect sea views...instead there were small porthole like windows. We could see the water but a few windows were covered in part by trees because our room was so far beneath the hotel that we were in the trees(again, not even close to the all water, no obstruction views they advertised). The furniture was gross and cheap. They had a rusted chair in the bathroom. The porches were supposed to have chaise lounges on them. We got a tiny pair of cafe chairs with a tiny little table. We were so disappointed. We had been looking forward to this for a year. The lobby is also gross and outdated with random desks/tables/cords. The carpet is old and the stair carpeting is also old and dirty. The staff was WONDERFUL though...so nice and friendly and the service was great. The food was amazing. If they hadn't false advertised our room category, we would have really had a great experience. It is more like a 4 star hotel in terms of our room and the common areas....it is such a great property and they could make it amazing if they put a little money and effort into it. The service and food were 5 star quality but the rest was 4 star quality. And the prices were high 5 star prices.

If you are looking for the most stunning views, beautiful rooms, and kindest staff- look no further than Punta Tragara. I did tons of research comparing across many 5 star hotels before our first time to Capri and my ultimate decision proved to be perfect. This hotel is situated in the best possible vantage point of Capri. The views are jaw dropping and will have you not wanting to leave the hotel. The location is removed enough from the busy town center but still just a beautiful and enjoyable stroll away. You also have the ability to take a walk ( may be aggressive for some) down to Fontelina and Da Luigi beach clubs. The food served at the hotel at breakfast, lunch and dinner is all delicious. Pre-dinner sunset cocktails while listening to live music or a DJ is an absolute dream. This is all topped off by the most amazing staff that will leave you wanting to keep coming back to this hotel year after year. They certainly accomplished that with us and we are about to head there for our 4th time and couldn’t be more excited! Thank you Punta Tragara team for creating such a special place that feels like home to us.
