I decided to have my wedding at Cape Rey Carlsbad over the weekend and it was a lovely experience. The resort was well maintained and most of the staff was accommodating and friendly. The event staff helped tremendously and did a wonderful job with all the wedding preparations. Mikayla and Ken both went above and beyond to make it a very memorable experience for us. We had our reception dinner at Chandlers and it was delicious. Our server Jose was funny and on top of everything and a delightful part of our evening making sure everyone in our party was happy. The rooms were nice and clean as well as spacious. They had good sized bathrooms and lots of space for guests. The only part of the stay that didn’t quite measure up to expectations was at the end of the night of our reception in regards to the 24hr shuttle service advertised in their info page. I had discussed with the valet desk prior to the evening about getting a shuttle for my best man back to his hotel which was within the 5 mile radius they required. She said it was no problem and made a note for her team for the evening. When we showed up that evening the valet asked where we needed to go and when we told him he immediately said no because he was the only one there. So why ask where we needed to go if you couldn’t take us anyway? And what about a 24hr 7 day a week shuttle service that’s advertised in your own info page? So that wasn’t the best experience to end the night on. So if you do decide to stay here, enjoy it, just maybe don’t expect all the amenities that are advertised as actually being available when you need them.

Nice location, easy walk to the beach with kiddos. Hotel restaurant was good for dinner, and just ok for brunch in my opinion...but was nice to have when we didn't want to leave the property. Parking and food were a bit on the pricey side, but overall, we enjoyed our stay and location of the hotel and the staff was friendly/nice as well.

Beautiful view of the Pacific. Hot tub jets not working and water not hot enough.

It was fine overall. The hotel as a whole needs updating. It's very family friendly which can make things loud and rambunctious so if you're looking for quiet and relaxing this is not your place. The spa seemed a little questionable so we skipped it.
