unfortunately my night stay at the Carmichael was the worst hotel experience I’ve had in years. Came for a one day staycation with my family. Upon arrival, we entered the room which still had a previous guest’s packaged contact lens (with toothpaste gunk on it) and dirty towel hung up for us to use. Husband goes to the front desk and brings the contact lens, and we are offered clean towels, nothing more, no additional cleaning of the room, nothing. I asked about late checkout and was told I have to inquire in the morning (day of checkout), and that its based on availability. I did not argue (this is a guaranteed platinum benefit) and just figured I’d deal with it in the morning. The worst was the blaring music that was ongoing until late in the evening. It was by far the loudest music I have ever heard in any hotel including beach resorts with pool music and rooftop bars, certainly not something I would expect at an upscale hotel in Indiana. Because of the noise, I couldn't sleep nor think straight. We to the carmichael for a quiet relaxing evening and a good night’s rest. If our home wouldn't have been 3 hours away, I would have demanded a refund and went home. The night was supposed to be a respite and it ended up causing more unrest and being a waste of time, money, and points redemption. I should have stayed at the Indy JW, but I thought it would have been quieter and more relaxed at the carmichael, I was wrong. The lady at the desk the next morning was wonderful. She said that late checkout requests were full for the morning but before I even said anything she saw that I was platinum and said “oh you are platinum what time would you like to check out?”. We were also not asked about the welcome amenity the night prior and she sorted that out for us as well. We went to breakfast around 10:45 am and were told to come back in 30 minutes, that we could not be seated and that they should have told us the night prior to make a reservation. Well we were barely talked to at check in let alone told we would need a reservation for breakfast, which is something I have never encountered at a hotel breakfast nor being turned away. We came back to breakfast 30 minutes later to a different hostess and asked for a table of 3, we were asked if we had a reservation, I told her what we were told 30 minutes prior and then she had to go ask somebody to see if we could be seated and we were fortunately seated for breakfast. I have no idea what was going on with this restaurant and this odd situation, there were very few people in the restaurant with many tables open when we were seated and it took quite a long time to receive our food (it was good food though.) We went to check out around 1:00 pm and I informed the front desk that I had a giftcard to pay for the breakfast charges, the charges had not yet been posted so I was instructed to send over my giftcard information to their email, which I did and was confirmed that they did receive. As of 9/1/26 my gift card has not been processed nor a folio sent. However, when checking my credit card transactions, my credit card was charged. I reached out to the same email address on the evening of 8/31 about this issue and still have not received a response. Overall our stay at the carmichael was marred with service issues - unclean room, no customer service to correct unclean room, given incorrect information about status benefits/denied benefits/not asked what welcome amenity we would like to choose, loud noise throughout the night, turned away from the restaurant breakfast, and billed incorrectly. There were a couple employees that were helpful to us, the room was overall nice (if it would have been clean), and the food was good, but there are some major issues with a restaurant being unable to function properly when it is not even near seating capacity. For a hotel that markets itself as a luxurious experience, this wasn't even close. I would not recommend a stay here.

Best Hotel in Indy/Carmel. Austin is the best. Give me great recommendations for local restaurants, night life!

Owen was incredible. He took care of us from start to finish. Hustler. You can have a gorgeous hotel, but if the valet is poor, bad experience from start to finish. Promote him!!!

We appreciate the work of Anthony Fortuna. He was working the valet parking kiosk, and I saw him take the time to actually pick up tiny pieces of paper that were near the front door and the parking area. He is a great asset to the Carmichael hotel.
