This place was extraordinary We stayed in the suite at the top It felt like we were staying in count pestagua's private mansion We hardly saw any other guests We had an issue with a roof leak in harry rain and they were so lovely the way they dealt with it All the staff were welcoming and the breakfasts were sensational We arrived in the dark at midnight and wow what a surprise when we saw our surroundings in the morning Delightful!

My recent five-day stay—from Wednesday through Sunday in mid-October 2025—at Casa Pestagua with my sister was nothing short of magical. Far more than just a hotel, this stunning, meticulously restored historic home immediately transports you into an unparalleled luxury experience. The moment you step through the grand, historic gates off the busy street, the heat and the vibrant bustle of Cartagena melt away, and you find yourself in a serene, cool haven. Our arrival was exceptional, setting the perfect tone: We were immediately greeted by the charming and kind doorman, German (who made a thoughtful effort to distinguish my twin sister and me right away!), handed a fresh cold towel, and given a delicious watermelon mocktail. That refreshing drink perfectly set the tone for the whole trip. Personalized Service and Staff Excellence The entire team at Casa Pestagua operates at a level of genuine luxury and personal attention that is rarely matched. Every single person, from the front-of-house to the general manager, is dedicated to making your stay magical. Plus, the fact that all the concierge and wait staff speak perfect English made everything so easy! We utilized so many of the hotel’s amenities. The central pool is an absolute oasis, and we took advantage of it, swimming every single day. The cocktails prepared were unique and truly delicious! Breakfast was also a luxurious affair, featuring boundless fresh fruit served with such kindness by Roberto, Carlos, and David. The rest of the staff, including Alejandro, Moris, Yeily, Leo, and Eduardo, were all amazing, and the entire operation runs flawlessly under General Manager Katherine. The concierge service was truly indispensable. They expertly arranged everything from our airport transfers (both ways) to a seamless day trip that included transport to the National Aviary and a nearby beach resort. The car service company they use was top-notch, reliable, and comfortable. What made this service truly special was the personal touch: on the morning of our day trip, Yeily actually found us during breakfast to personally walk us through the day's schedule. Wow—that level of care felt incredibly special! Beyond the hotel walls, they even helped us out with a last-minute luxury. We decided we needed a spa day and, with less than 24 hours notice, the concierge sorted out appointments for us at the Aurum Spa at their sister hotel, Casa San Augustin. My sister and I both got the amazing Gold massage. The spa and massage were great, and I especially loved the little popsicle welcome 'drink' they gave us while we waited—such a fun touch. Impeccable Attention to Detail It’s the personal touches that elevate Casa Pestagua into a world-class experience. Upon arrival, we had special welcoming notes in the room, followed every evening by a gorgeous turndown service complete with a lovely bedtime sweet, usually fresh-baked cookies or muffins. The housekeepers—Veronica, Dollis, Mileidis, and Vicelis—cleaned our rooms flawlessly. I was particularly touched by the individual who handled my room’s turndown service, who made my day every night by neatly placing my eye mask out for me. One evening, I returned to find a stuffed animal souvenir I’d picked up for my daughter at the National Aviary lovingly placed on my pillow! It was an impeccable, unexpected delight. I also used the laundry service, which was perfect—my items were returned promptly and beautifully wrapped in tissue paper, a final touch that speaks volumes about their standards. My room was divine, I was super pampered, and truly no detail went unnoticed; everything had the most personal touch. If I ever have a reason to go back to Cartagena, I wouldn't dream of staying anywhere else. Casa Pestagua is truly a magical, five-star haven.

Breakfasts were delicious with wide list of options to everyone’s taste. If you’re looking for a place that captures the soul of the Old Town while offering world-class comfort and service, Casa Pestagua is simply the best choice. We can’t wait to return. Beautiful hotel and excellent crew such as the operational manager, Katherine (qui parle un peu Français), the girls at the reception and the English speaking guy at the entrance. They assure top service… at a top location. Worth the detour.
