Dream in a medieval thermal tuscan resort

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 day ago

This is a magical place. Everything is réal. I am a wine lover and I had one of the best wine tasting expériences in my life. The house wine is amazing. The highlight is the fact I had an unforgettable swim in the thermal pools at night looking at the stars. Nothing like this in a médiéval castle I could do in any other hotel

An absolutely unforgettable experience.

The service was impeccable from the very beginning. Every message we sent was answered incredibly fast, and throughout our stay we felt genuinely cared for. Everyone on the team was kind, attentive, and truly professional. The special birthday gesture for my mom was beautiful and perfectly reflects the level of hospitality this place offers. It made our celebration even more memorable. The food deserves a special mention because it was outstanding. Every meal was delicious, but the steak was honestly one of the best we’ve ever had. The hotel is simply breathtaking. The views, the spa, the atmosphere… everything is beautifully maintained and thoughtfully designed. It’s one of those places that makes you want to come back before you’ve even left. Thank you to the entire team for making our stay so special. We leave with wonderful memories and can’t wait to come back.

Terrible Stay at this property!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

My Wife and two teenage sons stayed at Castello di Velona for 2 nights last week to celebrate a milestone anniversary - a trip we had been planning for over a year. We reserved a 2-bedroom suite, one of the most expensive rooms in the hotel. It was extremely warm outside and to our dismay the air conditioning in our suite was broken. We raised the issue with Management and they were unable to fix the AC and unable to provide the same comparable suite for my family. They offered to give us 2 separate rooms on the lower level of the hotel, causing us to split as a family. They brought us 2 fans, and only 1 worked, which was loud in 1 of the bedrooms. NO one slept well after spending over $1,500/night! When we asked management to credit us for only 1 night (not both) because of the extenuating circumstance, they dodged the question and then stopped replying to us. Furthermore, we were told by locals in Montalcino that the hotel had been having problems with the management of the hotel in recent years. Tuscany is beautiful and an incredible place to vacation and Montalcino is amazing with wonderful villages all around. You have many choices on where to stay (including hotels with refreshing pools), unlike Castello di Velona, which has a thermal pool which is unbearable in the summer. The hotel is tired and the rooms need a significant overhaul and is extremely overpriced for what you get. Besides having terrible customer service as I noted above. Do not stay here!

The best massage and spa in Italy

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 weeks ago

Castello di Velona is one of the most extraordinary experiences I’ve ever had. Everything from the atmosphere to the service goes above and beyond. My favorite part of the Velona experience is the spa. I had Alessandro as a massage therapist at their amazing spa. He gave me the best massage I’ve ever had. It was relaxing on a physical and spiritual level. He integrates reiki healing into his work that I can tell makes a difference.

Stunning Castle in the Hills of Tuscany

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 weeks ago

Absolutely spectacular stay at this beautiful castle in Tuscany. The staff was amazing and attentive. Excellent food and wine, and a beautiful spa and thermal pools. In addition to all of castle amenities, we would also recommend an onsite wine tasting, the farm tour/lunch/wine tasting at neighboring Serendipity Farms, a magnificent dinner at Michelin star Silene (25 minutes on a winding road so we hired a transfer), the private sound healing session and a day trip with Ardi from Capital Travel Services to Pienza and Montepulciano. All were amazing experiences. Thank you, Massimo, to you and the entire Castello di Velona team. We truly had a fun and relaxing time there. The property is gorgeous but the hospitality comes from the people. We enjoyed our stay and hope to visit again soon.

Most outstanding was Castello di Velona, located on its own hill in Montalcino, Italy. Just approaching it was a fairy tale. This restored castle enabled me to imagine what it would be like being a princess for five wonderful nights. The suite encompassed two rooms, with exquisite furnishings and frescoes. The views from the windows looked upon the vineyards and winding roads of Tuscany. The service and food were wonderful.
