Tierra Chiloe

Stunning architecture and setting set a high bar, but the service and dining were a bit off - staff felt unexperienced and often unable to explain policies on dinner pricing, etc. Our boat excursion on the hotel's boat was fantastic, with good guides (freelancers) and interesting sights - penguins, sea lions, dolphins a plenty, and the quaint churches and weathered houses of the nearby islands. I'm sure it's hard to get good staff in such a remote location, but they need to strive for better to match the accolades the hotel has received. Dining was a mixed bag - breakfast was nice, the dinners were very hit or miss (and pricing confusing for what could be ordered a la carte or by fixed menu), and the curanto evening was a real highlight that they handled really well.

Fantastic in every way. Rooms are well appointed and have fantastic views across the bay. Staff are incredibly friendly and make you feel genuinely welcome. Food is absolutely superb, with fresh local ingredients. Activities are varied - we did kayaking, horse riding and a trip on the Williche. Spa was good too - very good massage. They even gave us a lunch bag for our onwards journey. I would not hesitate to return. It was important to us that the hotel was relaxed and didn’t feel pretentious

We expected to stay four nights but due to illness, stayed eight in total and the team at Chiloe could not have looked after us better. Amazing food, wonderful cocktails (so many non alcoholic due to medication), superb trips out with the guides and from our room we were able to watch the dolphins play in the water. A truly magical place to stay. The entire team were friendly, helpful, caring and made the extended stay less traumatic for us both. The daily hospital visits were made so much easier by Karen who helped with translation and was a complete star. So much kindness was shown to us, we felt like part of the family and leaving was really hard. One day we hope to return fully fit and able to make the most of the more energetic trips!

Wow! What a wonderful hotel. All of the staff are extremely friendly and helpful, and always smiling. The food is excellent. A beautiful hotel in a magical place with amazing people! Our stay at Tierra Chiloé is probably one of the best of any other vacation we've experienced around the world. Nothing was wrong.
