Backpackers trekking through the jungle highlands of Belize a few years ago occasionally stumbled onto a rustic place called Blancaneaux Lodge - then a row of thatched huts above an idyllic valley, where waterfalls drop into granite pools lined with tiger ferns while parrots roost in the palmettos. Francis Ford Coppola himself stumbled upon this same enchanted retreat in the Mountain Pine Ridge reserve in 1981. "I'd been looking for some kind of tropical utopia," Coppola says. "This was the paradise hideaway I was looking for." The rest is history... Welcome to Blancaneaux Lodge.

Blancaneaux Lodge was one of the most special places I’ve ever stayed. Tucked deep in the Belize jungle, it’s stunningly beautiful and feels truly anchored in nature, not in flashy marketing. You’re surrounded by greenery, birds, and the kind of quiet that makes you feel like you can finally exhale. What made the trip, though, was the people. Every single staff member made us feel genuinely cared for, like nothing was too much trouble and they actually*wanted us to have a great time. Special shoutout to Osmani (papas!), who took care of us with so much warmth and attention. He handled everything and somehow made every moment feel easy and personal. My favorite part was the organic garden, and just being able to feel so connected to the land and wildlife throughout the stay. They really have everything you need on site, but it never feels overdone. It just feels natural, thoughtful, and peaceful. If you want a jungle escape where you’re immersed in nature and treated with real kindness, Blancaneaux Lodge is it!

A beautiful resort in the middle of a sub tropical forest. The service was outstanding. We had a staff member who served as our butler for four days. He took care of all our needs and was available at all times. I would highly recommend!

I just returned from Blancaneaux Lodge in Belize, and it completely exceeded my expectations. From the moment I arrived, I could feel how special the place is. It’s quiet, peaceful, and surrounded by natural beauty that instantly makes you slow down. The landscaping is magical with gardens, flowing creeks, and lush greenery perfectly in tune with the mountain setting. The design of the property is distinctive and full of character. Everything feels handcrafted and thoughtful, creating a sense of warmth and authenticity. It’s beautiful without trying too hard. The amenities are top-notch. There’s a huge organic garden that supplies most of the produce for the restaurants, and you can actually taste the freshness in every dish. The Garden Spot restaurant is perfect for vegetarian meals, while the Italian restaurant serves some of the best pasta I’ve had anywhere. Marty made each meal extra special and was always at the Jaguar Bar in the evenings to greet guests. The Guatemalan restaurant was another highlight. The horse stables, relaxing spa, pristine pool, and the creek running through the property all add to the feeling of total calm and connection. What really makes Blancaneaux unforgettable is the people. Bernie, the General Manager, is an incredible host… warm, kind, and always around in the best way. Adonis at the front desk took care of everything before I could even ask, and Hector from the garden shared so much about their sustainability efforts. Blancaneaux feels personal and grounded. It’s not about over-the-top luxury but about natural elegance and pure serenity. Truly one of the most special places I’ve ever stayed!

One of the best vacation experiences we have ever had in an incredible setting. The food was tremendous and the service was top notch. Osmani was our villa butler; the wine and cocktail tastings he provided were memorable. We especially enjoyed our outings to ATM Cave and Coracol. We can't wait to go back!

It was such a treat to go to Blancaneaux. Great atmosphere, great food and service beyond compare. The staff is very friendly and will go above and beyond to give you a stellar experience. The guides are very knowledgable and will take the time to explain everything. Even things that are not part of thier tour. I give a special recommendation to Gilberto. On our trip to Caracol he gave great insights to the culture and several times went out of his way to identify several plants with the traditional uses. I would highly recommend a trip to Blancaneaux. It is the experience of a lifetime. P.S. bring a jacket. It get chilly at night.

We stayed at the Turtle Inn and Blancaneaux Lodge for a week in October, and it was the best vacation we have ever taken. The cabanas and cottages were lovely, the staff was incredible, and the food was outstanding. It's rare that you come home from vacation without a single negative thing to say - our only criticism is that we couldn't stay longer! It was truly an amazing experience.
