About the Hotel

Backpackers trekking through the jungle highlands of Belize a few years ago occasionally stumbled onto a rustic place called Blancaneaux Lodge - then a row of thatched huts above an idyllic valley, where waterfalls drop into granite pools lined with tiger ferns while parrots roost in the palmettos. Francis Ford Coppola himself stumbled upon this same enchanted retreat in the Mountain Pine Ridge reserve in 1981. "I'd been looking for some kind of tropical utopia," Coppola says. "This was the paradise hideaway I was looking for." The rest is history... Welcome to Blancaneaux Lodge.

My stay at Blancaneaux Lodge was absolutely unforgettable! The entire team and the lodge really made guests feel so welcome and at home. The lodge is breathtaking - surrounded by lush nature, peaceful and well-maintained. A special shoutout to Alex and Gilbert, who were fantastic guides. Their knowledge, friendliness and genuine passion made every activity even more enjoyable. They made sure guests had the best possible experience. Highly recommended to anyone looking for a unique and welcoming getaway!

Amazing food, next level service!

I arrived at the lodge for a stay on August 22-24,2025 as a very avid local traveler, optimistic for another stay at a new place. Arrival; They honestly blew my expectations out of the water! From arriving we were greeted kindly by forestry check-point officers and also the resort’s friendly security team! The front desk wonderfully prepared cold towels and an awesome welcome drink and made the check-in process a breeze informing us of everything we needed to know. The general manager even personally came down and greeted us which is such a great touch that I’ve never seen before! Accommodations; The room was AMAZING, an old rustic charm that was cleaned pristinely (as I can be a neat freak) and the housekeeping staff were friendly and on point each and every time with amenities and attending to any queries we had. (The rooms has literally ALL the information on the resort that you’ll ever need!) Activities; The resort had about 4 complimentary activities (if I remember correctly) that were actually beautifully executed and had other activities that you can inquire about. Service; I’ve been to many notable properties with impeccable customer service, but by far Blancaneaux has left me lost for words. Everyone from the bell boys, to servers, to housekeepers, to front desk, to even security are keen, noting details and friendly! They seem to even be communicating respectively to maximize customer service; They remember our names, make conversations to figure out our plans to assist the respective departments and everyone is so friendly! (I work in the service industry, so I’m speaking from a business standpoint) Food; The food was point blank, amazing! Waiters were keen, attentive and never even let my water goblet go empty without already promptly refilling; The resort is ran like a well oiled machine! I will definitely be returning to stay again! Thank you Blancaneaux Team for the impeccable service!

Relaxation small adventures filled with care in a beautiful place!

I recently returned to Blancaneaux with my daughter after a 20-year lapse. It did not disappoint. In fact, staff have improved on what was already a wondrous experience. There are multiple restaurants, including Guatemalan and vegetarian, and the opportunity to eat “family style” with other visitors was lovely. The cabanas were beautiful little retreats, enhanced by the addition of “shell phones” with connect you with room service where they know your name and are ready to bring over whatever you want. The sense of camaraderie among staff and guides made us feel so comfortable and welcome. Blancaneaux has the best guides, people with long-term knowledge about the ecosystem and cultural history of Belize. The pool was wonderful and the body work was the best. A wonderful and welcoming place to get away into nature in a beautiful way. Thanks Blancaneaux, you are the best!

Boutique luxury in the jungle

Perfect family getaway in a beautifully maintained property with lots of fun activities, excellent food and truly first class service. Edman was spectacular and took wonderful care of us during the entire trip. Waking up to jungle views and the sounds of river water was very relaxing. All of our tour guides were very knowledgeable and made the activities very personal and memorable. I highly recommend them and can’t wait to come back soon!

We stayed at the Turtle Inn and Blancaneaux Lodge for a week in October, and it was the best vacation we have ever taken. The cabanas and cottages were lovely, the staff was incredible, and the food was outstanding. It's rare that you come home from vacation without a single negative thing to say - our only criticism is that we couldn't stay longer! It was truly an amazing experience.
