About the Hotel

Backpackers trekking through the jungle highlands of Belize a few years ago occasionally stumbled onto a rustic place called Blancaneaux Lodge - then a row of thatched huts above an idyllic valley, where waterfalls drop into granite pools lined with tiger ferns while parrots roost in the palmettos. Francis Ford Coppola himself stumbled upon this same enchanted retreat in the Mountain Pine Ridge reserve in 1981. "I'd been looking for some kind of tropical utopia," Coppola says. "This was the paradise hideaway I was looking for." The rest is history... Welcome to Blancaneaux Lodge.

Blancaneaux Vibes for Our 39th

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 day ago

I decided to do something different for my wife and I 39th wedding anniversary. Well Blankaneux did not disappoint. They understood the assignment and exceeded our expectations. The staff, food, accommodations and property was top notch. It would be difficult or just being too picky for me to give them less than 5 stars. It's a jungle resort with comfort and attentiveness to its occupants. I am definitely coming back.

And the Oscar for Best Vacation Goes to...

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 week ago

I’ve been researching traveling to Belize for quite some time and finally made the journey. I’ve become accustomed to some luxury resorts and Blancaneaux certainly did not disappoint and were everything I had hoped and more. The entire staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. My wife and I stayed in Cabana number 5. I would totally stay there again because it overlooked a small waterfall (beautiful and such a great sound for sleeping). The cabana itself is the luxury I expected from FFC. Thank you, sir for sharing your beautiful property. The cabana has balcony which is awesome to take in the views, but it also has some loungers with umbrella at the lower level, closer to the waterfall. We stayed a week and devided our time between adventures and enjoying the property. Highly recommended excursions we did were a visit to Tikal (Mayan ruins in Guatemala - longer drive, but worth it to us just to visit another country); the ATM cave (no pics/videos allowed since 2012 so not initally on our list, but added it after listening to other guests who went - very cool adventure. It felt like we were one of the first ones to discover the cave); Big Rock Falls (hour walk from the lodge to a magical waterfall and pool); and the sunset horse ride (2 hour ride through pine ridge and some rainforest - very beautiful and peaceful ride). The restaurants on the property are pretty much your only option, but rest assured they are the best options. There was a soup at the Guatemalan restaurant that was insanely delicous. The Italian restaurant was delicous and a must do is the garden tour that has fresh mojitos and a magnificent snacks and main course served family style for the group (everything from their 3.5 acre garden!). I had already planned on leaving a great review, but then the staff completely caught us by surprise. We went to enjoy our last dinner when the host stopped us and asked us to follow him. He took us down to the edge of the river where the most beautiful table was set for a romantic dinner (it was our anniversary). We were really blown away and impressed. The staff at Blancaneaux are everything you would expect at a luxury lodge, but they pay attention to the details and really take it to the next level. I cannot recommend this beautiful property enough. It was the perfect spot for our anniversary. Thank you to all the staff and guides! You really made our stay special!

Beautiful place and even more amazing staff!

This was a belated 20th anniversary trip for us. From the moment we were picked up from the airport to the moment we departed, everything was amazing. Close to hikes and excursions. You will hear so many birds! The food was amazing and most of grown right on property. They surprised us with a private dinner celebrating our anniversary. Staff went above and beyond to know your name and your favorites. Everyone was very passionate about their country and welcoming us with open arms. Would 100% return.

Honeymoon in Paradise

Absolutely stunning resort with incredible staff that made sure we had a special honeymoon! Romantic cabanas along the river with an amazing view and the sound of a waterfall and birds chirping in the morning. Lots of activities available in the area with knowledgeable guides. Quiet, calm, and relaxing.

Committed to excellence and eco-conscious travel

We were greeted upon arrival by Bernie and our dedicated butler/ new bff Osmani with a cool towel and some spiced jaguar juice. For 5 days / 4 nights we explored new unearthed Mayan ruins, river rafted, and hiked into ancient sacred burial caves. Our purpose for the visit was reuniting for a friends 50th birthday. For a group of designers and directors The Coppola sensibility was felt everywhere on the property; vignettes carved out of wood, vintage family photos and local crafts make you feel like you are transported to a secret family hideway. Additionally, there is a working farm that supplies 70% of the food on the property as well as the sister property of Turtle Inn. Everything is considered so as to be low impact and eco-friendly. It's rustic and charming and there are like 3000 steps in every direction. Slow down and enjoy the sounds of jungle bird calls and the buzzing of hummingbirds of every hue. If you're lucky to get Osmani as your guy then you are more than set, his attention to detail is unparalled! Jeronimo, Johnathan, Minor the chef and all the staff are beyond friendly and committed to excellence. The Lodge does not disappoint.

We stayed at the Turtle Inn and Blancaneaux Lodge for a week in October, and it was the best vacation we have ever taken. The cabanas and cottages were lovely, the staff was incredible, and the food was outstanding. It's rare that you come home from vacation without a single negative thing to say - our only criticism is that we couldn't stay longer! It was truly an amazing experience.
