Club Floor Stay

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 7 hours ago

We recently stayed three nights at The Charleston Place on the Club Level, and while there were aspects of our stay that we enjoyed, our overall experience was unfortunately overshadowed by disappointment with our room assignment and the way the situation was handled. When making our reservation, I specifically requested a room that did not face the parking garage next door. Upon check-in, I again made a point of asking that we not be placed in a room facing the garage. We were offered an upgraded room and waited for it to become available, so you can imagine my surprise and disappointment when we finally entered the room and discovered that we were directly facing the parking garage—the one thing I had specifically requested to avoid. I immediately asked if we could be moved. Mary at the front desk was very professional, understanding, and apologetic. She explained that they were unable to move us that evening but indicated that they would work on finding us another room the following morning. Unfortunately, when I checked with the front desk the next morning, it appeared that nothing had been done regarding the room change. After some time, they eventually located Mary's notes and began looking for another room. What was especially surprising was being told by our butler that there really wasn't a room with a better view available. At that point, after packing and preparing to move and already spending a good portion of our morning dealing with the situation, we decided to simply stay in our original room. The hotel did remove the upgrade charge, which I appreciated, and I want to specifically recognize Mary for the professionalism and kindness she showed us. However, for a hotel of this caliber—and particularly when staying on the Club Level—I expected greater attention to a clearly stated room request and better follow-through once the problem was brought to the hotel's attention. I understand that specific room locations cannot always be guaranteed, but in this case the request was made when reserving, repeated at check-in, and then seemingly overlooked again the following morning. Had we simply been told at check-in that no other room location was available, we could have made an informed decision rather than waiting for an upgrade only to end up with exactly the view we had asked to avoid. The Charleston Place is a beautiful hotel, and we had looked forward to this stay. Unfortunately, the room situation and the amount of time spent trying to resolve it left us disappointed and took away from what should have been a special three-night visit.

A Special Place

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 days ago

My sister and I just returned home from the most amazing stay at the Charleston Place celebrating our 50th birthday and we can not wait to go back. The entire hotel is gorgeous and charming. The rooms are beautiful, bright and pristine. The location is great; easy walking to most places you want to be and if you are unable to walk, they will arrange car service for you. What makes this place truly special though is the people. We felt spoiled throughout our stay. Everyone was exceptionally kind, friendly, helpful and fun. Check out the amenities with club level also; the ease of waking up to breakfast and coffee before starting your day, an afternoon glass of prosecco with lunch, the fun of getting a get ready drink delivered to your room on a drink cart at 4:30, a stop at the club bar for an after dinner drink, the list goes on. If you are planning a trip to Charleston or have a milestone to celebrate, this is definitely the place for you.

Excellent Food, Service and Valet!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 5 days ago

Jaelin and his team run a smooth and efficient Valet service. We were impressed by each interaction with them. Logan was her server at the Palmetto Cafe and he did an outstanding job. We had a beautiful brunch - I had the Avocado toast with crab, which was spectacular! The famous Cinnamon Roll will be on my list next time. 😊

I traveled with my family (husband, and two children ages 2 and 4) on a Luxury Link auction package to Charleston Place in August. True good service is making travel effortless for the visitor, and Charleston Place delivered. There was no problem in bringing our children. We arrived about an hour before official check-in, but our room was ready and keys were given. Concierge had pre-printed directions to many of the sites. Finally, our Luxury Link credits for spa and dinner was automatically applied at check-out, so the check-out sheet that I received the morning of departure already had the correct amount that needed to be charged. Effortless! The Club floor included an expanded continental buffet breakfast, as well as drinks and finger foods throughout most of the day. This was very convenient and the breakfast and evening hors d'oeuvres were particularly extensive. What makes Charleston Place stand out from myriad other places to stay in Charleston - many more historic or quaint or intimate - is the amenities offered. The pool with surrounding deck and kiddie pool is a very pleasant spot. The spa treatments were wonderful and very professional. Dinner at Charleston Grill was our favorite meal of the trip. The flavors were complex and fresh - this is not your typical fried and heavy Southern cuisine. I can see Charleston Place appealing to business travelers, couples needing pampering, families with older children, and yes, families with young children. All in all, a service-oriented hotel in a wonderful location with superior amenities and appealing to many different types of travelers.
