Reviews for Emeline

Boutique Hotel Centrally Located

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 day ago

Located near the Charleston City Market, Emeline is a boutique hotel with a lot of charm and modern flourishes. From the lobby and check-in desk to the rooms, the hotel has a chic, retro vibe. The staff is friendly and very helpful. We had an issue with our original room as the shower wasn’t draining properly. When I notified the front desk, we were quickly upgraded to a suite, which had a nice sitting area, a king-sized bed, and tasteful furniture. It was quite a large room, almost like a small apartment and yes, the shower drain worked properly. The bed and all linens, towels and such were clean and comfortable. There is free coffee, filtered water and fruit in the halls of the hotel. The hotel has a coffee shop, a very popular restaurant, and a very nice courtyard with a fireplace, which was quite enjoyable on some crisp February nights. We had some pleasant conversations with fellow guests while sitting out there. The hotel is located in the heart of old Charleston, it is highly walk-able to many nearby attractions and restaurants. One cannot ask for a better location to enjoy the splendors of Charleston. We truly enjoyed our stay at Emeline and would love to stay there again on any future trips to Charleston.

Great hotel in the perfect location

We had a wonderful time during our stay at Emeline on our recent vacation to Charleston. When we checked in, our room was upgraded to a suite. It was such a great surprise. Emeline offers some nice amenities: a cocktail when you check in, complimentary soda and snacks in your room when you arrive, access to bikes to ride around Charleston, a steamer for your wrinkled clothes, coffee, tea and water on each floor by the elevators. We also had a Nespresso in our room but couldn't figure out how to use it (LOL). The check-in process went very smoothly and quickly. Our room was ready early, and we were able to get right in. The valet, Mark, brought up our bags and gave us a "tour" of the room answering any questions we had. He was very welcoming. Upon check-out we had a slight problem that Rachael and Coby quickly fixed which was greatly appreciated. Emeline is located right next to the Charleston City Market. 99% of everything we did was in walking distance. That was a real plus as we did not have a car. I highly recommend Emeline. Don't hesitate to book your stay here.

Exquiste boutique hotel in heart of Charleston

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 days ago

An exquisite boutique hotel in a prime location, with the historic district, King Street, and the harbor easy walks. Every detail is beautifully thought through -- there's a sense of serenity that permeates the place. The staff is welcoming and very helpful, the rooms lovely with big airy windows and fine linens, and the attached Clerk's Coffee is ideal for that first thing in the morning pick-me up. The outdoor patio/restaurant is a little sanctuary, hidden away from the street busy-ness -- their woodstove pizzas are amazing, and I don't like pizza. We'll definitely come back.

Good experience

We had a nice stay at Emeline. The suite was clean and comfortable, and the restaurant was delicious—Jimmy was our favorite waiter. Loved the purified water and fruit refill stations on each floor. However, for the price, I was hoping for a more elevated overall experience and nicer room.

Best place to stay in Charleston

Thank you for a wonderful stay. Staff was amazing from our greetings by the valet, Mark to the front desk staff to the bar staff and servers. Special thank you to Mark & Jack for their help with our belongings and car. We stayed for four days and they remember us on each occasion we returned.
