Nice

The hotel stay was very comfortable and in a key location downtown. The only hiccup this time was that valet took about 40 minutes to retrieve my car when I was ready to leave. Oh, and my room had an unpleasant smell initially. However it resolved with air freshener.

Top Notch Hotel

From check in to check out this place was wonderful! The room was beautiful, the food was amazing and after dinner drinks on the roof top to watch the sunset over the city was gorgeous. This is our new “go to” when we visit Charleston!

Amazing experience from beginning to end! The front desk staff are welcoming and incredibly helpful. The rooms are spacious. It is very well positioned for sightseeing. The breakfast pastries were an adult delight. They played awesome 80s by. Would definitely come back.

Beautiful hotel with amazing staff

My husband and I visit Charleston at least twice a year and usually stay at Charleston Place but they were booked so we decided to give Market Pavilion a shot. The hotel is very charming with beautiful antique furnishings and the location is very convenient. What really stood out to us the most was the staff and the welcoming atmosphere they created for us during our 5 night stay. Danny at valet was very efficient, knowledgeable and helpful. Scotty, our server at the rooftop bar was very friendly and did a great job. Best of all was Theresan at the front desk. She went out of her way to make sure our stay was perfect and I was very impressed with her. There are many hotel options in Charleston with comparable amenities, atmosphere, price points and equally convenient locations but what sets Market Pavilion apart is their employees who take personal pride in their jobs and are dedicated to making their guests feel at home. This level of customer service is hard to find these days which is why Market Pavilion is our new top choice when visiting Charleston.

This hotel needs a lot of help - look elsewhere!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

We booked this hotel based on generally positive reviews and decided to splurge since this was a special spring break getaway. Thanks to inadequate staff and poor service, the hotel was a disappointment. We arrived after the 4 pm check-in time, were told our room wasn't ready and then were told by the manager on duty that the 4 pm time meant rooms were ready "from 4 pm" not necessarily at 4 pm. We waited more than an hour for our room, were given no sense of how long we'd have to wait, were offered inferior room alternatives in the meantime, watched our car sit in the valet space for most of that time, and only received the offer of a complimentary drink near the end of our wait. Retrieving our car and reparking over the course of our stay it was frustrating due to insufficient staff. Our room went uncleaned one day until we complained. For the very high price we paid, we expected far better. I'd like to think we hit them on a bad day, but when I researched reviews in on other sites, I found a recent review from someone with a very similar check-in experience. Something is clearly wrong at the hotel right now, and I'd advise looking elsewhere until they've resolved the personnel issues they clearly have.
