My wife an I stopped in Charleston as part of our birthday week celebration and spent 3 nights at The Spectator. Just before Covid hit we had reservations that we had to cancel. We finally worked it back into our plans - and - expectations were high! Our expectations we met and mostly exceeded. From the moment we rolled into the valet lane to the moment we rolled back out to head home we were treated like truly valued guests. Everybody was so pleasant and took great care of us throughout the stay. The room was spacious and comfy. Even though we were right off of Market and State Streets, we rarely heard outside sounds. Sleep was blissful. We didn't take advantage of the butler service as much as others might, but when we did we were very pleased. We will definitely return to The Spectator. Next time we'll try a different room (had a Premier King Balcony Suite). The balcony was tiny but passable. However, the view from 307 kept us inside.

This hotel is charming, best in all of Charleston! This hotel’s hospitality is what draws so many people to this great city! Most of the guests that attended my friends wedding stayed at this hotel. We all loved it! We had a lot of activities planed and the staff did not seem to mind the crowds. Very friendly.

Not the experience we were hoping for…it was our first time in Charleston, and we will not be staying at this hotel again. They tout themselves for having “butler service” which is in essence no different than standard hotel room service. In fact, it’s actually worse as they were unable to appropriately bring the correct order to our room. They don’t understand the difference between a regular Brut champagne and a Brut rosé. For a supposedly more refined and sophisticated hotel, this place is absolutely not worth it as there are numerous other hotels nearby that are more affordable.

We went to Charleston to celebrate the union of our dear friends. Finding a hotel that was central located was a priority for us. The Spectator Hotel exceeded every expectation. From the moment we arrived, Carlo, the manager personally greeted us with a warm welcome. The hospitality was unmatched—our personal butler greeted us with champagne and made sure every detail of our stay was seamless. The location is perfect, just steps from the historic market and some of Charleston’s best restaurants and shops. The bar has a prohibition-era aesthetic; food and drinks were great, and bartender was very personable. The rooms were beautifully designed, combining classic Southern charm with modern luxury. The bed was incredibly comfortable, the bathroom was spotless and spacious, and we loved the thoughtful touches like locally curated snacks and a stocked complimentary bar. Breakfast delivered to our room each morning was a highlight—fresh, delicious, and beautifully presented. The staff went above and beyond to make us feel special, and it genuinely felt like a five-star boutique experience. We left already planning our next visit. If you’re heading to Charleston, this is the place to stay.
