The Spectator Hotel

My wife and I love Charleston and we selected The Spectator to help celebrate our 31st Anniversary. (Actually, Mercedes who works guest services at the Spectator, deserves the credit for helping us select the Spectator!) I'm retired military and she gave us a great military discount. She upgraded us to a premier room! She had champagne waiting on us! What more could we ask for? The Spectator is located right in the heart of the old Charleston peninsula. Walking distance to nearly everything and I mean everything. This small boutique hotel provides for exceptional intimate treatment of their guests. Our room was awsome. We had a balcony and a butler... yes I said butler! We had an delicious free breakfast delivered to our room by our butler EVERYDAY! Our bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was huge and accommodating. I highly recommend this hotel and staff. We plan to stay with them again for sure!

Our recent stay at the Spectator Hotel in Charleston SC was an excellent experience! We thoroughly enjoyed our time at this beautiful hotel situated right in the French Quarter of Charleston. Everyone from the parking attendee, guest services, cleaning services and especially all the butler's were outstanding. Everyone was professional, kind and went out of their way to assist us. Rooms were very nice with all the amenities one could ask for. We highly recommend this hotel. We look forward to our next stay in Charleston at this Hotel

Staying at the Spectator Hotel was so fabulous we would give it 10 stars if we could! Upon arrival check in was wonderful with Hannah. We asked for an early check in and Melissa worked hard to accommodate us. We were given a special welcome drink and our “ Butler” took us and luggage to our room. In the many great hotels we have stayed at this was a first to have a butler which was an incredible experience. The butler staff are all great but we had exceptional service with Daryl, David, & Michelle. Included in any reservation is the butler service which includes a terrific breakfast brought daily at any time you request to your room. We were told that nothing is too small to ask for , even a toothpick 😂. They provide help with reservations, sightseeing ect. Our room was so comfortable, toiletries, beds and linens outstanding! Each room has an oversized shower which we loved. We were provided with many drinks and basket of great snacks all included with the room rate. These were replenished daily and if we had any requests for drink or snacks they would provide. It so nice not to be charged for every little thing. The hotels location is excellent. We were in the historic and market area ,close to many excellent restaurants and walking distance to King Street shopping. We had a crack of dawn early 4:30am check out and Chamique was so wonderful. The hotel had our coffee and to go breakfast ready for us. We loved our stay so much we along with the other couple we traveled with for fun , we all booked the Spectator for next year!

Omg, this was the third and worst experience at this property. So disappointed! The first 2 experiences were wonderful, but oh my has it changed! The rooms that were “secured” months ago were not assigned and therefore we did not get the rooms we booked; the lobby welcome was not happening: no welcome beverage or snacks; no reading materials/local happenings brochures were available. We were told we would be notified when our rooms were ready: we weren’t and spent unnecessary hours waiting as we toured the streets. The nightly turn down service knocked at our door before 7 pm( there was no turn down): the bed was not turned down, the drapes were not drawn. Hopefully the breakfast and subsequent days will prove otherwise, but if not, we will be staying elsewhere next time. Such a shame when they had so much going for it! There are too many new and trendy options: outrun em or lose!

Highly recommend this hotel for couples or people traveling for personal or work. Amazing location and the service is spectacular. Upon check-in you’ll be impressed with the hotel’s lobby, service, and ease of valet parking. Our room was one of my favorites of any hotel I’ve stayed. Very pretty, comfortable bed, and luxury bathroom. The turn down service, nightly ‘night cap’, and in-room breakfast had us feeling so relaxed. The bar and bartender/servers were also great and we enjoyed the atmosphere! We will be staying again in the future.
