Reviews for The Spectator Hotel

Absolutely stellar. Won’t stay anywhere else in Charleston.

We’ve stayed at top hotels all over the world, and I can say that this was the best service that we have received anywhere. Better than The Four Seasons, better than the Montage, better than the Peninsula and the Ritz. This team goes out of their way to make your stay memorable, from tips on where to go and what to eat, to proactively preparing snack bags to go for days out. We especially loved Jim, our Butler, but everything was fantastic. The drinks in the bar are also incredible. Don’t miss the Silence of the Yams. Sounds weird and silly, but we went back three separate times just to have that cocktail.

Charleston weekend stay!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 weeks ago

My friend and I had a girls weekend trip in Charleston. It was our first time in the city, so we decided to stay in the historic downtown area. We wanted a boutique hotel and found the Spectator. We are so glad we stayed there. It is right by the market and walkable to so many shops, restaurants, coffee shops and bars. The butler service is such a nice touch-- they provided us with everything we needed, quickly. Having breakfast chosen the night before and served in the morning while we were in our robes made us feel so pampered. Drinks and snacks in the room are also included -- as is a welcome drink. Would definitely stay here again!

Great Boutique Hotel Experience

My wife and I had a wonderful stay at this boutique hotel! From the moment we arrived, the service was exceptional. Our butler, Darryl, went above and beyond to make sure every detail was perfect—truly outstanding hospitality. The rooms were incredibly spacious and comfortable, providing the perfect place to unwind. The location couldn’t be better, with amazing dining options just steps away. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a memorable and luxurious stay!

Comfortable luxury in beautiful Charleston

The Spectator is a lovely oasis in bustling Charleston. The rooms are modern and spacious - well appointed and comfortable. The service is excellent - David our butler was the best. Overall a 5 star experience - the way a luxury hotel should be run.

Living like Royalty!!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

My husband planned a surprise trip to Charleston to celebrate my 80th birthday and invited our both of our sons and their wives. We had a Fabulous time that started with a welcome reception cocktail, introduction to our butler and a tour of our room. Our sons had the 2 adjoining rooms and each had an enclosed porch. The rooms were very luxurious with comfy mattresses and big fluffy pillows. After unpacking we met in the Bar which was outfitted like a London club. Beautiful furniture and an outstanding bartender and wait staff. Then onto dinner and back to the hotel for a nightcap. Our rooms had turn down service with a soothing cordial in a chocolate cup, different every night. WE also chose our breakfast for the following morning, and making a choice out of the selections was difficult! In the morning, we received breakfast in our room and enjoyed a relaxing time before we dressed and met our family to tour Charleston. This was a wonderful experience and I can’t wait to return again!! Know I know how Royalty feel when they are treated like the staff at te Spectator treated us!
