Reviews for Zero George Street

Well located, charming and friendly.

The hotel is really charming but comfortable and well taken care off. The entire staff was lovely. Their recommendations about local tours and sites were first class. We found the hotel really well located and having access to bikes whenever we needed them prove to be super useful We were exceptionally comfortable in our room and the breakfast were simple but inviting.

Overall good.

This was our second time staying at Zero George. I can’t say it was ‘Southren hospitality’ at its best. The room was lovely although there is a metal staircase to the second floor garden suite where we stayed one night, although we booked it for two nights. The staff were helpful although there was confusion as to the length of our stay. If you have a disability (I fractured my ankle back in October) be sure to ask for an ADA room WITHOUT steps. The breakfast and amenities are great, just be sure to ask exactly what is available due to changes in weather, menu and other variables. Be sure to visit Sullivan’s island. It’s about 20 minutes from the hotel and the restaurants and shops are great. The beach patrol people were helpful. Be sure to keep your dogs on leash at the beach as we saw several running loose and tearing down the boardwalk. Overall a 10/10 except for the miscommunication with Zero George.

A Special Weekend at Zero George

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

I had no idea what this weekend would hold, other than that I was headed to Charleston to celebrate my 40th birthday. My husband told me we were staying at a boutique hotel—which I absolutely love and always prefer—but I didn’t know how utterly elegant and divine Zero George would be until we walked through the wrought iron gates. Of course, I had snooped online beforehand and gotten myself excited for the trip itself, but it truly hit me once we arrived at Zero George. We left the airport with a car service my husband booked through the hotel. It was a great choice, as our driver, Jay, was not just another driver—he was personable and shared fascinating details about Charleston and Zero George itself. We were already excited, but Jay’s insights validated my husband's decision for us to head to Charleston for my 40th birthday. When we arrived at Zero George, we headed to reception to check in and were greeted by the fabulous team. They treated us to a lovely glass of wine while they got our keys ready and escorted us to our room. Erin walked us through the property as she took us up and gave us a thoughtful tour of our room, which was beautifully appointed. Upon entering our room, we found a bottle of wine waiting for us—a lovely touch. (not sure if my hubby planned that or not, but either way, I loved it!) After Erin realized we are wine fans, she then made sure to inform us about the wine and cheese hour from 5–6 PM. We quickly set our things down and then headed over to the bar where we treated ourselves to some cocktails while waiting for our dinner reservations. Erin even lit the fire and lanterns in the Oyster Garden for us, creating a magical ambiance. It gave my husband and me a chance to unwind, reconnect, and soak in the stunning beauty of the property. I was already so excited to spend the next few days there and was super excited for what was next. Breakfast - A meal to not miss My husband and I love breakfast, so we made sure to take full advantage every morning. You can start with a black coffee or a fancy latte—whatever suits your vibe. Call me basic, but I fell in love with their avocado toast on sourdough. Shoutout to Abby and Ashton for the recommendation—it was perfection! What’s great about breakfast at Zero George is the variety. It’s not your average continental breakfast with bagels and cream cheese. You can go healthy or indulge—it’s up to you! Either way, enjoy, because you’ll need the energy for all the walking Charleston demands. Wine, Cheese, and Cocktails Yeah, you already heard me on this one, but it's fine. Just be sure you enjoy the wine and cheese hour—it’s such a treat! Actually, don’t skip the bar period. They have a fantastic cocktail menu and a wide selection of spirits. My husband’s favorite drink is a Negroni, which he likes to consider the ultimate test of a bartender’s skill. Zero George passed his test. The Negroni was spot-on, and I (enthusiastically) ordered another round of drinks. Dinner: A Culinary Symphony Do yourself a favor—have dinner at Zero George. If you don’t, plan to come back, because you haven’t truly completed your Charleston experience. The food is exceptional, and locals will confirm its reputation. Let me also be clear, the chef’s tasting menu is a must. My husband and I have a tradition of seeking out chef’s tastings during our travels, and this one ranks in our top three worldwide—easily the best in the U.S. Our server, Joanna, made the experience so much fun—thank you, Joanna! Asia’s contagious energy and big smile added so much warmth, and Anthony, the sommelier, elevated the evening with perfect pairings and sharing fascinating stories about his journey into wine. As for the food: start with the caviar. I’m not typically a fan, but my husband is, and he ranked it in his top five ever. Add truffle to the tortellini—it’s a game-changer. The tortellini is amazing on its own, but the truffle takes it to another level. And that Wagyu? There are no words. It’s won awards for 15 years straight, and it’s easy to see why—it literally melts in your mouth. Finally, save room for the tres leches. It’s the best I’ve ever had in my life. Even if you’re full, trust me: you’ll regret not completely enjoying it because you'll never have anything like that again. I will use my husband's words to describe this meal as they were perfect: “A beautiful symphony of flavors.” The Best Stay Ever Zero George was, without a doubt, the best stay I’ve had in years. You all made my 40th birthday unforgettable, and I can’t express my gratitude enough. From the warm welcome to the thoughtful service, everything was exceptional—even when our flights were canceled, and we had to stay an extra day. The team effortlessly brought our luggage back to our room and made us feel right at home again. Honestly, I think God knew I wasn’t ready to leave and canceled our flights twice—ha! Marc, thank you for making our experience at Zero George truly unforgettable. Your exceptional level of service, warm personality, and genuine kindness made all the difference during our stay. You went above and beyond to ensure everything was perfect, and it’s clear that you take immense pride in what you do. You were an absolute delight to work with, and we left feeling so grateful for the care and attention you showed us. You helped to make my 40th birthday celebration incredibly special, and we’re already looking forward to seeing you again on our next visit. To everyone at Zero George, thank you for the most magical birthday weekend. I can’t stop talking about it. To those thinking of going to Charleston and where to stay, if you've made it this far in my review (or story), just book your trip now. You will not regret it.
