Named after our actual street address, Zero George is comprised of sixteen lush guest rooms and studios in three painstakingly restored historic residences and two brick carriage houses that surround our private garden courtyard. We’ve infused it all with a sense of intimacy and warm personality, honoring the buildings’ solid 1804 bones and graceful architecture with measured, timeless design.

This hotel is a dreamscape of elegance, where every detail whispers comfort and beauty. What truly makes it unforgettable is its ensemble of whimsical hosts - curators of delight who turn simple moments into celebrations. A greeting feels like a performance of sparkle and magic. In my experience staying here, guests aren’t just cared for - they’re cherished, uplifted, and made to feel extraordinary. If you haven’t been, you must make time to be their guest.

Beautiful property in a great location in Charleston. If this was marketed as a bed-and-breakfast, I would give it five stars. However, this is not a five star hotel. Significant lack of amenities, casually dress staff, restaurant with very limited access, etc. We were on the top floor of the main building, significant noise from the street, no elevator. If you like B&B type stays, I would highly recommend. If you are looking for a comfortable, five star hotel, look elsewhere.

Zero George is a truly special place — perfectly located in Charleston, within easy walking distance to everything you’d want to see or do. It’s a lovely, intimate boutique hotel that combines historic charm with modern comfort. The staff are absolutely outstanding and equivalent -- if not better -- than those at any 5-star hotel — warm, friendly, and genuinely dedicated to making every stay memorable. From the front desk to the dining staff, to the concierge team, everyone radiates kindness, professionalism, and helpful knowledge. They had many recommendations including the best horse-drawn carriage ride (Palmetto Carriage Works). The complimentary breakfast is excellent. The coffee was so good we asked the hotel if they would kindly give us the source and they did! We ordered it when we got home and love it! The rooms are beautiful and extremely comfortable. We loved the Frette pillows from Italy so much we ended up buying them for our home. (In fact, when we returned home to purchase the pillows at a local store, we ran into another couple at the Frette boutique who had stayed in a hotel in Florence and were in the store to purchase the same pillows!). This is just a testament to the quality at Zero George. A few things to note: the hotel does not offer room service or a traditional dining room, though the prix-fixe dinner menu is lovely (just know it may include a few adventurous dishes that aren’t for everyone). We did have one issue during our stay — a chambermaid accidentally left our room key in the door, making it accessible when we returned that afternoon. Thankfully, nothing was missing, and the staff handled it with sincere apologies and care. As some other reviews mention, noise can be an issue — this is a charming historic property, so you may hear guests above or nearby. If you’re sensitive to sound, request a second-story room for a quieter experience. Despite these small hiccups, we would absolutely stay here again. The combination of beautiful surroundings, thoughtful touches, and truly exceptional staff makes Zero George one of Charleston’s finest boutique hotels.
