Zero George Street

This hotel is a beautifully restored building from the 1800s and if we were still in the 1800s you could define this room as luxury. The walls are paper thin and every door closing, footstep up the stairs and turn of the lock reverberates through the whole entire building. The toilet flushes but only every other time. The shower, the bed, and the TV are all nice and the room stayed a comfortable temp from the mini split. But basically there is no sleeping at this hotel. If your fellow guests are awake. YOU ARE AWAKE. I know the hotel is aware of this issue, because the have white noise machines in the room. But the white noise can’t drown out the shaking of the walls. Our room was King Veranda Zero building room 1. People kept walking into our building thinking it was reception. Also we heard the zero George restaurant kitchen door and the cleaning staff door were on each side of our room. So if the staff are working, you are not resting. On a positive note, The Zero George restaurant had one of the best tasting menus we have ever had and the caviar bar was an amazing experience. The staff are super nice and very accommodating, but unfortunately the bones of this hotel are very old. It makes it look absolutely beautiful, but the functionality of it and calling this a luxury hotel is a stretch. We considered asking to change rooms but other reviewers said that the other rooms hear non stop car traffic from the busy street which also creates a noisy experience. Final recommendation would be to eat at Zero George Restaurant and Caviar Bar, but stay elsewhere.

We had a beautiful anniversary trip to Charleston and loved our stay at Zero George! It was dreamy, relaxed and romantic. All the details and touches were perfect and we left with the best memories!

Our stay here was fantastic overall! Great service, delicious food, comfortable rooms, and a serene setting. There was a disappointing mistake with a known dietary restriction, so be diligent to check for yourself if this sort of situation would apply to you. Although no on-site remedy was offered, the hotel took my feedback seriously, and an owner personally reached out to provide generous service recovery. This showed a great care for quality. We’ll stay here again if we’re ever in the area!

We stayed at Zero George in Charleston SC for 3 nights. It was a perfect place to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We thoroughly enjoyed the shaded outdoor sitting areas and the delicious food that was served for breakfast. Our residence was spacious and spotless. It is a very special place.

Outstanding in every way! The staff the setting and the food were outstanding! The room (D) was outstanding, the courtyard peaceful and the staff are the very best!
