The Great George

Our go to place to stay when we are in Charlottetown. Great location, easy parking, large rooms with good service and breakfast.

If you are seeking that disconnect from the busy of the city, look no further. The historic charm of The Great George is apparent throughout and the rooms are beautifully decored. The 2 level suite we stayed in felt very homey and the features were endless. Well worth the experience.

My husband and I had the pleasure of staying in the Romantic Hideaway Suite 403 this past weekend and I had to write to express what an exceptional experience it was. From the quick and friendly Check-In ( to be greeted with hot coffee and homemade cookies was such a nice touch- especially on a blustery November day! ) to the seamless Check-Out, we were met with smiles and pleasantries by every staff member we encountered. The suite itself was thoughtfully appointed - I especially loved that the bedding was crisp, fresh and clean without the use of cloying fragranced detergents/fabric softeners and that the amenities were more natural and gently scented. The mattress, sofas and cushions were all in good condition - comfortable and well cared for - and the cozy fireplace was so appreciated on our rainy romantic weekend! Another lovely surprise was the quality of the breakfasts - the menu was thoughtful and appealing - similar to small European hotel offerings - rather than the standard North American "continental breakfast" and my husband was amazed that the carafes actually keep the coffee super hot (he was also impressed to see the morning staff discreetly checking the food temperature with an infrared thermometer ). Other items of appreciation were that the included parking was close by and secure, and lovely restaurants and shops were a short pleasant walk ( aided by their umbrellas during a few downpours!) Essentially, the Great George was the perfect destination for a rainy autumnal getaway and we highly recommend it to anyone who asks!

Great friendly, accommodating reception. Great comfortable, convenient room. Great cozy ambience in the lobby. Great Happy Hour. Great Continental Breakfast. All-in-all worthy of a Great rating.

This hotel has it all -- great location, good parking, very comfortable accommodations and helpful staff. Charlottetown is a very walkable city and the Great George is in a prime spot to begin your exploring or walking to a myriad of restaurants and shops nearby. The room was spacious and nicely furnished while the beds were soft but supportive. The continental breakfast was delicious and served both cold and hot items (the frittata was delish) and the Happy Hour during the week (wine and beer) was a nice touch. Even better was 24/7 access to tea/coffee in the lobby (and cookies while they lasted). I would definitely stay here again and consider this facility to be one of the top places in the Atlantic Maritime provinces.
