Shanti Maurice, A Nira Resort

Our experience at this hotel has been absolutely superb. We have stayed for ten nights at an ocean view pool villa. The atmosphere at the hotel is very relaxing and peaceful, the location, at the South coast of Mauritius is great (that area is not as touristic as other areas). The facilities of the hotel are absolutely fantastic, and they are really well maintained. The gardens, the pool area, the beach area, the spa (really worth making use of the possibilities offered at the Spa; they are really extensive, varied, and with an extraordinary professional team)... really top! The ocean view pool villa is absolutely fantastic, with a private pool, a surrounding garden/terrace, and with extra services (like butler and Club level experience) which are really added value. The layout of the area where the villas are located contributes even more to an extraordinary relaxing experience. The culinary experience is really worth to mention. The main restaurant (Stars) provides different cuisines in the same restaurant (Arab, Thai, Indian, International, Asian and, also, Mauritian daily dishes). As it is an A-la-carte restaurant, the experience is, in my personal opinion, further enhanced. The variety, the presentation of the dishes, the quality, the service, the atmosphere (with view to the ocean)... simply perfect! The Rum Shed provides a different type of cuisine (BBQ and wood-fired oven) and atmosphere. It is also simply fantastic. High quality food, high quality rums (I concentrated on Mauritian rums tasting, which has been a discovery for me) and, also, high level service. La Kaze Mama offers traditional Mauritian food in buffet style. Here too, the atmosphere is great. It is located at the herb garden, and the outdoor setting is fantastic. The food is really tasteful and varied, so I can highly recommend this restaurant too. As in the rest of the hotel, the staff is fantastic. Another great experience is the feet-in-the sand dining. Directly at the sand by the ocean, enjoy a delicious and full-served dinner in an extraordinary cozy environment by the lagoon. As already mentioned, the facilities are great and extremely well maintained, with a really fantastic layout of the different areas. All the charm of this is multiplied by the staff. The staff makes the experience really unforgettable. They are extremely professional, helpful, kind... Everyone is paying attention to provide the best experience and service to the guests. The managers of the different areas, and the general manager of the hotel, are present on a daily basis to meet the guests and to check how is your stay going. For solving any doubt, any question, any request... they are directly accessible and available. Our final impression after our stay is that the staff form a very good working team/family, which operates perfectly coordinated and with the will to provide the guests with the best service. We felt that they had pride in their work, which leads as a result to an unforgettable experience for the guests. We cannot thank them enough for how well they have treated us. From a personal point of view, we also appreciated that the hotel has a dress code for the different restaurants (something to be expected for a hotel of this level). It contributes to the whole experience in my personal opinion. We also made use of the resort car for our excursions. It has been a wonderful and luxury experience. Really worth to use it, because, being a luxury car, the trip is done very comfortably. And, furthermore, and very important, the driver is very experienced guide too, so you make your tour at your own pace, and with the possibility of adapting the tour, on the spot, depending on your wish. We can highly recommend this experience too. All in all, our whole experience at Shanti Maurice has been unforgettable. Having to say good-bye to the staff was somehow difficult (tears were dropped!), which is the best indication that this hotel, and, of course, the staff, is superb. We are really willing and looking forward to visit it again.

I truly enjoyed my stay at Shanti Maurice Resort & Spa. The resort is beautiful, peaceful, and the service was exceptional throughout my stay. A special thanks to Kanen Valaydon for the warm hospitality and professionalism that made the experience even more memorable.

If we had known how perfect the customer service and accommodation would be, we would have spent the whole of our 16-day holiday in Mauritius at this hotel. No other place could match the high standard of the Shanti Maurice & Spa. All the staff are friendly and customer-oriented, and you can feel their passion for their job. The rooms were perfectly clean and the breakfast was incredible. We stayed in a junior suite once and then came back to spend two more nights in a villa. Both categories are great, but having a great butler team and your own pool just makes the holiday perfect. I would recommend this hotel to anyone staying on the island.

We had a truly exceptional Valentine’s experience. The champagne dinner set up on the beach was stunning — candlelit tables on the sand, elegant décor, and live music that created the perfect romantic atmosphere without overpowering conversation. The food was excellent and the drinks were equally impressive, with fresh flavors and beautiful presentation throughout. A special mention to Pritish for his outstanding service at the bar. He took the time to guide us through the cocktail and champagne options, asking about our preferences and suggesting pairings we wouldn’t have thought of. Every drink he made was perfectly balanced, and his passion for mixology really showed. The signature cocktail he crafted for us was easily the best we’ve had — creative, refreshing, and memorable. His knowledge, patience, and friendly manner made the experience feel personal. We also appreciated Kevin, the new Executive Chef, who personally visited each table with his assistant to ensure everyone was enjoying their meal. That level of care and attention is rare and speaks volumes about the kitchen’s commitment. The entire staff was attentive and warm, making the evening seamless from start to finish. Our room was also very nice and clean, which rounded out the stay perfectly. Highly recommend for special occasions. We’ll be back.
