Reviews for Canoe Bay

In western WI woods

A very nice, secluded, couples (no children) place. Separate cabins are available. Small rooms or large suites available. A dining area too. Paths to walk, ponds to kayak & canoe to paddle. Truly off the beaten path. However, it’s expensive. In fact, to expensive for the level of accurate service. We stay two nights over a weekend. Could not enjoy diner because of dress requirements (that’s on me). Yet food ordered, was messed up - though charged full price. Beers ordered, were doubled, when not as printed. It’s a nice place, the administration just needs to pay more attention. Plus, the suites are not at the level of the charge (showers are very poor, toilet & bathroom small, jacuzzi dangerous with rails or non-slip, seating area only for two people, etc). We tried. We learned.

Can't wait to return!

This was our fourth visit to Canoe Bay, first time in the summer. It was just as wonderful! We loved our cottage, enjoyed walking the grounds, having coffee in the Lodge and on the pier overlooking the water, cocktails on our deck, delicious meals delivered to our cottage and the most beautiful garden I have ever walked through. We enjoyed it several times a day, one night enjoying a glass of wine watching all the humming birds and butterflies. We can not wait until our next visit, highly recommend!

Wonderful respite in nature

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 weeks ago

Canoe Bay surpassed all expectations for a quiet getaway for my wife and I. Meals delivered to the door plus an excellent dining room with great food, wine, and lake views. A woodsy lake with usually no more than a couple people on it at a time, quietly paddling, and often no one. Take a morning swim with the lake to yourself, listen to the loons at night with the windows open. With no highway nearby, it’s marvelously still and relaxing in a way it never is at home. The library is out of a home magazine, the cabins themselves little marvels of discreet design—the whole place has an elegance without being showy or fussy about it. Already planning to come back in other seasons.

We loved our stay at Canoe Bay!!! This was our first time and it did not dissapoint! The people, the accomodations and the food was wonderful! We loved the place we chose to stay, loved the wild life, the canoeing, the gardens, walking on the grounds. We chose to do the meal and it was delicious! A great get away to relax and recharge. I would highly recommend.

Dream Retreat

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 months ago

i have always wanted to stay here and it certainly did not disappoint. I ad originally booked the classic king XL lakeside but after checking in and starting to unpack we knew that we would not be happy there. I hadn't realized that it is actually a tiny home trailer. Although very nice it did not have the warm and cozy feel that we expected and felt that the $515 per night cost was too high for the accommodations. The manager, Renee, was very quick to get us settled in a Dream Cottage as we had purchased the Spring Package which included an upgrade. The cottage was worth twice the amount of the trailer and definitely was a dream. It was so spacious with a cozy ambience, incredible view and bathroom to die for. One of the reasons that we were most excited about staying here was the incredible food that is offered. We had the great pleasure of talking to the wonderful gardener, John. A visit to his beautiful garden is a must. The food did not disappoint. We ate all of our meals on the property and it was all delicious. We did get very spoiled by having the wonderful staff deliver breakfast and lunch right to our door. We had originally booked 2 nights but ended up extending a day because we didn't want to leave.
