The Drake

My partner and I spent a weekend here this past October and our interaction with Pedro was the highlight of the whole stay. It was freezing cold and raining by the lake when we arrived around 4 PM on Saturday, and we were dragging our dripping wet coats into the lobby. Pedro noticed us immediately, took our heavy bags right away, and stood talking with us for ten minutes giving us directions to a quiet jazz club nearby that tourists usually miss. He even made sure our room had extra dry towels brought up before we even had to ask. The lobby has a very unique vintage charm that felt great to walk into after that wind. We definately had a great anniversary weekend at the Drake and will be booking here again whenever we come back to Chicago.

My partner and I stayed at the Drake over the weekend and had an incredible time. The staff was very friendly and accommodating especially Pedro. He went out of his way to make our experience so memorable. Highly recommend!!

Am a Hilton Diamond level without the attitude ( usually) . Can’t help but write this review. I booked a one bedroom suite for over $700 per night. I love hotels from this era and of course know you have to expect that there will be aging issues. There were those ( worn furniture, stuck doors and old bathroom fixtures for example) but it’s the other items that surprised me. The room was a one bedroom suite and was supposed to have a pull out couch. It didn’t. I made FOUR phone calls to get a rollaway and proper blankets. My friend did not fit well on it but the couch was more of a love seat so he slept in the fetal position for 3 nights. There were no bathrobes. Dirty glasses sat in the hall on the floor for 4 days outside our door. The maids vacuumed around them. Room service required using a malfunctioning QR code. When I called guest services to ask to talk to a live person in the kitchen they said I couldn’t. I will say that most employees were very nice and the breakfast restaurant was charming. The valet guys are really friendly. The drinks in the bar are excellent. However this hotel is missing the mark in a grand way. Not really excusable.

Very clean. Friendly staff with great communication. The view from my room was fantastic. Great location. Love the seat in the elevator. Good vibes.

This is a great, classic hotel with an excellent location at the top of the Miracle Mile. Yes, it's a bit worn around the edges, but still a very cool place. We were on the 10th floor overlooking Lake Michigan, and the view was spectacular. The room was really big, with good beds and plenty of storage. The front desk staff was friendly and very helpful throughout the stay. Wonderful location that felt very safe for neighborhood walks, and also a convenient ride to much of what Chicago has to offer. Definitely recommended.
