The legendary The Drake Hotel has been a symbol of Chicago luxury since opening in 1920 at the intersection of the Magnificent Mile and Lake Shore Drive. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the hotel blends Gilded Age grandeur with modern comforts, welcoming guests through an iconic lobby adorned with crystal chandeliers, ornate detailing, and timeless architectural elegance. The 535-room property offers a range of accommodations, from classic guestrooms to specialty suites, many featuring views of Lake Michigan and the city skyline. While the hotel embraces its historic character, guests enjoy contemporary amenities including a 24-hour fitness center, pet-friendly accommodations, in-room dining, and attentive service that reflects more than a century of hospitality.
Dining is one of The Drake's defining experiences. The famed Palm Court has hosted afternoon tea for nearly a century, welcoming notable guests including royalty and cultural icons, while Coq d'Or remains one of Chicago's most historic cocktail lounges. The hotel's prime Gold Coast location places guests steps from Oak Street Beach, luxury shopping along the Magnificent Mile, acclaimed restaurants, museums, and the lakefront trail.

The common areas of this hotel are beautiful and grand. However, the guest rooms are in need of a refresh. The dresser was coated with dust, The room smelled very musty, and once turned on, we couldn't turn off the bathtub faucet. If I was having a wedding, I'd love to have it in the ballroom/tea room, but I wouldn't stay here as a guest again until this hotel is renovated. I have allergies, and the moldy, dusty smell triggered them. On a positive note, if you want a strong, good drink, stop by their bar, and the location is great.
