The Drake Hotel Chicago

How the mighty have fallen. What was once a by word for elegance and service is now a dated shell. I am this hole leaving today. Thank goodness. I am a Hilton gold member and always use the group I am considering my options. No service no breakfast. Just a cafe /shop in the basement. Then I became ill.yesterday afternoon returning to my room. I called reception explaining the situation asking for some water and some cookies to try to help. “You will have to get up and go down to the shop “. Wow I could not believe my ears. What an awful advert for the city the country and the hotel. Home tonight thank goodness

Our stay was amazing. Excellent hospitality and very friendly staff. Sophia at the front desk was great. She is such an asset to the Drake.

I am writing to thank the staff at the Drake Hotel for such a second wonderful experience. It is rare these days that one can enter an establishment and be met with excellence from the entire staff. A special shout out to the bellhops who treat you like family upon arrival. A very special shout out to Jeff with HGV for providing detailed knowledge as to how to navigate the wonderful city of Chicago. Many thanks to the Drake family for making our visit so incredibly special.

Had a great trip. Old historic hotel with a great view and on the magnificent mile. What’s not to love!

Hi Everyone, This is our second stay at this lovely hotel since November 2025. Our first experience in November was wonderful (my first time to Chicago and I have fallen in love with this beautiful city!!!)and our second trip in March 2026 was just as wonderful if not more so! We traveled to Chicago by train on both trips and the uber ride from the train station is not far and scenic. Arriving at The Drake, the lobby is absolutely beautiful and has fresh flowers. The front desk staff are warm and welcoming. A soft place to land after a long train ride. I chatted ahead of our arrival and each person I communicated with was helpful and kind. Thank you Monica and Anthony! The hotel is a historic hotel as you know so please do not book it if you are looking for modern. However, it is well kept and so very very charming! If you want the whole Chicago experience, this is the place. We stayed in a room with a lake view this trip and it was so amazing. Both the daytime and the nighttime views are stunning. The room was very clean, the bed was super comfortable with nice bedding. The bathroom is well appointed. Also complimentary Lavazza coffee in the room is a big plus for us! The bar, Coq D'Or, is amazing, both food and drinks. Be sure to order the martinis. They are so big and delish, along with the turkey dinner and the bookbinder soup. All of the waiters are great! The coffee shop Cafe on Oak is quaint and delicious. There is just something about this hotel that makes you feel like you are in the middle of the time of your life!!! Don't hesitate to give this wonderful hotel and staff a try. We would definitely recommend it and plan to return soon. Enjoy!
