The Drake

This is a great, classic hotel with an excellent location at the top of the Miracle Mile. Yes, it's a bit worn around the edges, but still a very cool place. We were on the 10th floor overlooking Lake Michigan, and the view was spectacular. The room was really big, with good beds and plenty of storage. The front desk staff was friendly and very helpful throughout the stay. Wonderful location that felt very safe for neighborhood walks, and also a convenient ride to much of what Chicago has to offer. Definitely recommended.

The check-in was quick and easy. We’d reserved a room with two queens but switched that to one king with no difficulty. Folks at the desk were friendly and efficient. Room was large and the bathroom was well appointed. Free water for Hilton Honors status and free coffee. Hotel was relatively quiet, given the location. The Drake is an old and classic hotel and the layout, rooms, and decor reflect that. And the elevators have a small sofa built into them, which is old-school and charming. The bar/restaurant is also classic. Bustling but not too loud. We just had cocktails. Service was good and friendly. We’ve stayed at the Drake before and it doesn’t surprise and doesn’t disappoint. We are tough graders and give it four stars. Definitely better than most, not quite elite.

Very Old and decrepit hotel. Not handicap friendly cause you walk into the front entrance and there is a steep staircase in front of you. Check in is on the 2nd floor. The rooms are large but very old and the closets smell like old granny's attic. The plastic tub has a bubble in the floor which makes you feel like the whole thing is going to crack. It feels like a setting for a horror movie. The staff do clean the rooms but the hotel needs a huge overhaul. Only minor renovations were done. Front desk staff was very nice but you have to pick up water bottles, slippers and robes at front desk. It is a conference location and located in very nice and convenient location on Gold Coast near shopping and overpriced restaurants.

Stayed at The Drake by Lake Michigan for a conference and liked the quiet and safe location. Magnificent Mile is there when you get out of the lobby. Loved that it is across LV! clean streets, inside the hotel: hallways are wider, our room was so spacious but the bathroom was tight. We appreciated OSCAR at the front desk, who made our check in smoothly taken cared of. Glad to be upgraded to the top floor with corner view 🥰

Outstanding & elegant. Exceeded all of our expectations. Hilton has done an excellent job of maintaining & improving every aspect of this great old hotel. No disappointments.
