The Stuff of Legend

I'd heard about the Drake ever since I was a kid, and I can testify that it's one of the magnificent places I've ever been. I also highly recommend visiting their Palm Court.

One night on the town

We had a lovely night stay at The Drake, as a gift from my mom. The room was lovely and quiet, with a lake view. In the morning we met Joey Laso, who gave us the history of the hotel and surrounding area. We enjoyed breakfast at Espression By Lavazza and went about our day of shopping. Would definitely stay there again. I enjoy staying in historic hotels and this met my standards of history, class, and comfort.

Weekend in Chicago

We had a great time at The Drake. The room was very comfortable and had 2 bathrooms. Kind of weird but really convenient not to have to wait for each other. It’s a beautiful hotel with a lot of old fashioned charm and conveniently located at the top of Magnificent Mile. Highly recommend!

Just made me sad

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

I went in know this place once had an amazing reputation but time had passed it by. I understand historic and that some things may be built awkwardly because of the age of the building. To say we were disappointed is an understatement. First the positive: The flowers in the lobby were beautiful. The doorman was always friendly. We arrived early so our room wasn’t ready. The bathroom they let us freshen up is was huge and perfect for taking you luggage changing for the day and then heading out while they held our bags. The hallways look like they’ve been freshened up with bright carpeting. And we loved the location. The negative: We were in a junior suite just down the hall from the Princess Diana suite. When we walked in we could instantly see how dated and worn the room was. Actually it wasn’t just dated, things were flat out broken. The blinds barely worked and didn’t even hang correctly. The bed skirt was pilling. The top drawer on the dresser was broken as well as the door on the tv stand. We were afraid to touch things because we didn’t want more to break. In the hallway there was a pile of dirty forks out on a credenza that stayed there the entire time we stayed at the hotel. It’s like Hilton has just given up on this hotel. It could be nice with a little effort. Instead it’s just sad.
