Fairmont Chicago’s new design catapulted it to the top of hotel options in The Loop, Chicago’s business and theater district that’s home to many of the city’s cultural attractions. Past an opulent gold-hued lobby awaits a collection of guest rooms dressed in a natural color palette of cream, chocolate and mossy green highlighted by a bold floral print from Warwick Orme. Marble baths come with a separate rainfall shower and soaking tub, and for further relaxation, the spa offers couples’ soaks in a sumptuous suite.

The staff at the Fairmont a perfect choice from Benjamin at the door,Gabriel at the check in desk and Mo at Toro. The entire staff were friendly, helpful and knowledgable ! Our spacious room was on the 32 floor with a wonderful view. Amenities were great, bed comfortable, room was equipped with coffee maker and tea pot. The floor we were on could have used a sprucing up although when on elevator it stopped on lower floors which looked redecorates so not sure if floors are going through renovations. Location was perfect for shopping, visiting tourist sites. When returning to Chicago the Fairmont will be our choice!

I recently stayed at the Fairmont Chicago and had mixed feelings overall. The biggest downside was that the rooms feel quite dated and lacked the luxury atmosphere I would normally expect from a Fairmont property. At check-in, I was told I received a complimentary upgrade, but it was unclear what exactly had been upgraded. That said, the rooms were very spacious, and the beds were extremely comfortable, which made for a good night’s sleep. The staff was also consistently warm and welcoming. A special mention goes to Benjamin, who was outstanding. He clearly loves his job and went above and beyond to make sure guests felt greeted, valued, and taken care of throughout the stay. There were also some housekeeping misses, such as dirty glasses being left in the room after cleaning and no creamer provided for the coffee setup. Overall, while the hotel has strong service and comfortable accommodations, the property could really benefit from updated rooms and more attention to detail to better match the Fairmont name.

Horrendous hotel, avoid at all costs — dated fixtures, dated rooms, WiFi that didn’t work half the time, air conditioning that did not work at all. No security — literally anyone can walk in and access any floor of the hotel and the front desk will not stop them. No complementary water. Obscene price gouging. Only positive: the housekeeping staff was excellent and kind. The hotel should be avoided at all costs.

I booked my stay thru the Chase Travel Edit Stay. The lobby area was fine, but I don’t really spend time there. The staff at this hotel really shine. Every staff member greeted me and asked about my stay, great job. Where the hotel could use improvement is in the hotel itself. My room felt dated and well, basic (not even a bag for dirty laundry). Never received additional Nespresso pods after my first day. My AC died the last evening of my stay at 1AM, I did not see the point in bothering staff, I simply opened my windows. This hotel could be great, but needs to be updated. I would give the hotel an overall rating of 3.2.
