Great service and genuine care

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 day ago

Just wanted to share... We left our 4 year old son's blanket in our hotel room, which he had since birth. In a panic, called that evening and was kindly forwarded to the house keeping manager Zula. She personally went to the room and found our cherished blanket, followed up with a call and made sure security sent it out the following day. Victor at security was detailed and made sure it was sent out Fed-ex that next morning. The hotel experience was good, but it was the quality of people.. from the friendly greeting upon arriving in the parking lot right through to the invaluable care we received with finding and retrieving our priceless child's blanket. Special thanks to Zula for the personal care in our dire situation. Great people at Fairmont-Chicago.

Great Overall

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 5 days ago

We had a very good stay at Fairmont Millennium Park. The location was excellent—just far enough from the busy Mag Mile to feel peaceful, yet still within easy walking distance to the Riverwalk, Millennium Park, and Michigan Avenue. The room was comfortable with a lovely view of the lake, and the bed was very cozy. The only drawback was that the bathroom felt a bit dated, butwas still clean and functional. We really enjoyed the happy hour tacos and margaritas—delicious and a great value. Breakfast was just average, but service throughout the stay was good, with a few small hiccups but generally above average. Overall, a well-located, comfortable hotel with solid service and nice touches. We’d gladly stay again.

Front desk service is horrible for a high end hotel

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 6 days ago

I created the account just to post this. Everything was fine until check out. The front desk lady named “Levanta” really ruined the entire experience. First, when I came to her and said hi, she didn’t say anything and just stared at me with no smile, no greetings at all. Second, when I told her there was a $35 spa credit that needs to be applied, she sighed loudly as if I was begging her for money. She then told me to go to the spa myself (wow) to ask them to apply the credit even if the colleague next to her said she should apply it on her end. She then disappeared for like 10 minutes talking with someone at the back after I pushed back. Finally, after spending a good 15 minutes waiting for this to be resolved, she came to me with the printed receipt, and said “your credit has been applied, you have a good day”. She just looked like I created trouble for her, and had no apologies at all for wasting my time dealing with the credit that should have already been applied automatically before I checked out. The management here really needs to be more diligent in training the employees on how to properly serve customers.

A weekend saved by competence and kindness

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 week ago

I stayed at the Fairmont Chicago - Millennium Park in July. Our trip was saved by the kind action of a young woman, Julia Frey, at the reception desk. When I got to the desk, Julia had already briefed her colleague and she helped to keep us in our room, at the same rate we had for the first night. Its amazing how the kind and competent actions of Julia made any negative thoughts disappear. Although I read the complaints of others, particularly about the the urban experience fee, I felt the entire stay provided value even before using the daily credit for the coffee bar and the sports club access. I was also happy to spend a 2nd night in a room with a great view of Millennium Park and enjoy the cool air-conditioning after exploring the parks and Riverwalk nearby.

We enjoyed our stay.

Please forgive the length of this review, but I wish to be accurate: 1. The location is excellent; it is near the Chicago River, Lake Michigan, the Navy Pier, the Miracle Mile, and many other attractions. (There is a CVS across the street for quick purchases.) 2. Our room was spacious with a nice shower and excellent view. The in-room espresso was nearly undrinkable, and the fridge was unusable. It is filled with over-priced items for purchase, leaving no room for anything else. I placed my water bottle in it, causing me to receive a charge for alcohol. (The front desk did remove this charge.) 3. The gym is large and well-equipped, but it is too warm and stuffy. One of the Peletons was broken my entire stay. 4. The bar in the lobby is excellent for a quick drink and El Toro, the restaurant in the lobby, is excellent. Be sure to try he smoked guacamole. 5. The self-parking is moderately expensive and convenient-if you can find it in the labyrinth under the hotel. There is a long tunnel to level B-2, but the signage is nearly non-existent. 6. The meeting rooms for my conference were excellent with good AV, but the conference food was below mediocre; the breakfast was really skimpy, and the lunches were the standard chicken and tasteless vegetables. 7. One of the escalators was making frightening noises and eventually quit working altogether.
