Double beds for $300 a night?

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 day ago

I stayed here for a large National convention that was in town. My room was reserved as part of a block of rooms my the National organization. On the day I was arriving I got a email saying I could check in early on the Hilton app and pick my room. I down loaded the app and everything went smooth until I tried to pick a room, every room available and there were 100 or so was showing 2 double beds, not queens but doubles. I called so see if if I was registered for a double or queen or king (I requested King when I made the reservation). I was transferred to the front desk where I was either disconnected on hung up on three times in a row. I checked the Hilton website to see what the room choices and I was much surprised to see that on that very same morning I could book a double, queen or king for $175.00 per night. My group rate was $291.00 per night before taxes of $52.00 per night. When I arrived I asked for queen beds and was told it was a $40 night upcharge so now I have to pay $330 a night for a room I could have booked for $175 that same day online. I checked on all three days of my stay and each day the online rate was the same for every room configuration and cheaper than my stay. Combine that with taxes, and $18 to use the gym I walked away from this experience feeling like I was fleeced for what I got. The location is great but the building is old and the bathrooms are tiny, closets are tiny. There is no AC vent in the bathroom and it was probably 90 degrees when the sun was shining in through the window.

I had the pleasure of meeting Katelynn, Hilton Vacation Group Sales in the lobby. She is very personable, engaging and an outstanding representative of the Hilton Brand!

Hilton and the "resort fee" grift

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 days ago

I am absolutely infuriated by the "resort fee." They smile when they tell you they're charging it, and then tell you "but you get a credit on anything you buy in the convenience shop" on site. The prices at the convenience shop are through the roof ($10 for a protein shake? Come on!), and then, just to make sure you are well and truly pissed off, they ASK YOU FOR A TIP AT THE SELF CHECKOUT. This constant nickel-dime stuff and the feeling that I am consistently getting ripped off just made me change reservations for my next three reservations. Sorry, Hilton, you just lost 15 nights. Hope that resort fee makes it worth it for you!

Birthday Trip

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 days ago

Went to Chicago to catch a Cubs game with my son (his birthday) and some friends. The hotel is beautiful when walking in and the rooms are just as nice. Very unexpected that there are two full bathrooms in each room. My son and I ran into the general manager while getting some breakfast at Starbucks. We told her that we were celebrating his birthday. She jotted our information down. Later than evening when we got to our room, we were surprised with a cakes and some snacks. It was a very thoughtful gesture. The staff were friendly and helpful. Rooms were clean. Would definitely recommend this hotel.
