Fun stay in a downtown Chicago hotel

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

My husband and I spent a week at Blake Hotel. Courteous staff. Our room was very large with huge windows looking at the Historic City Library across the street. Informative and sleek room decor that gave the history of that area of Chicago/Printer's Row. Lots of restaurants within walking distance. Easy access to public transportation. Easy walk to the Art Institute of Chicago/Michigan Ave.

Beautiful Historic Property

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 weeks ago

This property was an incentive stay after I did a timeshare promotion. I didn't expect much, but I was blown away. The hotel was beautiful inside and out. The staff was friendly and helpful at every interaction. Housekeeping was provided daily. A fridge and microwave was in my room which saved drastically on a week-long stay.

The hotel staff was friendly and accommodating. The room was spotless and cleaned daily. It was spacious, and the bed was comfortable—an excellent location, within walking distance of all attractions.

The Gem of Dearborn!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 months ago

WOW! What a true gem in Dearborn! We found Hotel Blake on UA Hotels. Appropriately highly rated! This wonderful property is nestled in the heart of River North area and proximate to everything you could want close by. Deko cafe, Gino's Pizza etc. The interior is tastefully renovated. Rooms are an ample size with massive floor to ceiling panel windows, high ceilings, crown molding, fancy bedding and modern furniture. One of my pet peeves is not being able to find enough plug points in the room. This room had an insane number in every nook and cranny you could expect! Finally, lighting is generous with fancy fixtures in every corner. Oh....most important a full length mirror! A must stay - and I am not a paid reviewer. PS - Our stay was made nothing less than DELIGHTFUL through the care and effort of Al at the front desk who made sure we were placed in the perfect room! Thank you "Al"! This is not ChatGPT - it's just me.

Excellent hotel experience

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 months ago

Good location for points of interest such as Shedd Aquarium, Chicago Art Institute, museums, etc. Many fast food locations within a short walk, but only 1 upscale dining restaurant. The Blake Hotel recently went through a top to bottom refurbishment. We liked the major wall's color and accessories. Our King bed room was roomy with adequate lighting and WiFi. Daily room cleaning and bed making with room supply replenishment was well done. Bathroom lighting is weak (no overhead light on ceiling or shower area). It is a very old building and while the refurbishments took about 6 months and the hotel was closed; major repairs were not all accomplished. There are numerous signs of structural repair needs yet to get sufficient attention. These were not a detriment to our pleasant stay, but in the time to come they may be to future guests. The restaurant operating hours do not include dinner coverage. We missed it, finding its lack a major inconvenience. Breakfast and lunch menu offered a wide, but short variety of selections. Overall, a very pleasant and comfortable stay. The hotel staff from room cleaner to bellmen to desk clerk were outstanding. We definitely hope to return for a 2nd stay.
