This has been an awesome few days at The Gray. The hotel is incredible, the rooms are beautiful, very clean and the staff are very welcoming and helpful. My wife and I came to Chicago for her 30th birthday and it’s been wonderful to be within walking distance of everything we want to do. The hotel actually took that into account and sent up a birthday note with some wine that made my wife’s day. This was after we were allowed to check in early and given a free room upgrade, talk about going the extra mile. A special thanks to Shea the concierge for the extra attention to detail. I am thoroughly impressed with the hotel, and the staff. I highly recommend to anyone thinking about coming to Chicago.

I recently stayed at the Kimpton Gray Hotel in Chicago. The biggest positive was the location, it’s in a great spot for exploring downtown Chicago and getting around the city. The staff were also friendly, helpful, and professional throughout my stay, which I appreciated. Unfortunately, the room itself was disappointing for a hotel that markets itself as a 4-star property. The shower had extremely low water pressure, and it was difficult to get the water to a comfortable, consistent temperature. The bathroom also appeared to have been neglected during cleaning, with visible dust on the counters and fixtures. What concerned me most was finding a pair of dirty pajamas left behind in one of the dresser drawers. There’s no telling how long they had been there, and it raised questions about how thoroughly rooms are being cleaned between guests. Another downside was the lack of traditional room service, which felt unusual for both a 4-star hotel and a Kimpton property. Noise was also an issue. Even from the 11th floor, I could hear neighboring guests coming and going, as well as street noise from outside. Overall, the hotel earns points for its excellent location and friendly staff, but the cleanliness issues, room shortcomings, and noise made the stay fall short of expectations.

Multiple attempts to contact management failed. That should tell you everything. Room beautiful, nice welcome, but.. 1. Desk table (top) missing feet. When I was using computer, it shifted, went bang, and I thought glass would shatter 2. Coffee maker clogged - three tries to make “large” and then .. it wouldn’t STOP brewing .. then spit out boiling hot water. 3. Shower HOT HOT then FREEZING - delay of 5-10 seconds for temp change 4. HVAC didn’t work. I had to set heat to 80 to get anything to come on 5. One roll of toilet paper 6. Bathtub … but no soap? 7. Chase IHG mastercard rejected - this indicates high fraud from property, according to Chase.

Lovely hotel walking distance from Amtrak, Opera, the Bean, Mich Ave. Staff were delightful - shoutout to Vesna! Room was lovely with quality linens, Frette robe. Wine pour in very comfortable lobby. Pizza in the downstairs restaurant Boleo is outstanding

Kimpton Gray Hotel is conveniently located in the heart of downtown Chicago’s historic and financial district, within walking distance of the Union Station, Millennium Park, museums, etc. The room was cosy and clean. Excellent room service, dining options, and amenities. The overall atmosphere was friendly and pleasant.
