A modern, stylish sanctuary in an architecturally rich town, the glass-walled Kinzie Hotel extends to its guests River North’s impeccable taste for what’s culturally relevant. The design is clean-lined, the art is eclectic and the inspiration derives from adventurous settler and trader John Kinzie. This Preferred Hotels & Resorts property – part of the Preferred Hotel Group – is a city fixture for the business traveler, couple or group looking for both escape and arrival.

My friends and I went to Chicago for the Oasis show Sept 2025. Staying at the Kinzie was an amazing experience. Angel Panopio and Andiel Cruz at the front desk were such a delight. Their high vibing energy and willingness to answer all questions related to the city made the stay so much more memorable. We really enjoyed and appreciated the happy hour from 5-7 on the 6th floor, we were pre sauced before it was time to head out for the evening. If youre heading to Chicago, do yourself a favor a stay at the Kenzie. Its in a really great area, minutes from the river. We will definitely be back for the holiday season. I will always stay at the Kinzie when in Chicago. Thanks again for a perfect hotel.

The front desk staff was always extremely professional and very accommodating. Both morning and night crew were excellent. Also the folk staffing a breakfast/hospitality suite we’re outstanding and courteous.

I’ve had the pleasure of staying at the Kinzie Hotel several times, so I knew what to expect with this visit, and it didn’t disappoint. The location is excellent, with plenty of restaurants and activities within walking distance. I was able to check in early, which was a nice perk, and found my room to be perfect: spacious, clean, with a great view, a comfortable bed, and a mini fridge. The staff was consistently friendly and helpful throughout my stay. One of my favorite benefits of staying at Kinzie is the 2-hour happy hour from 5–7 pm, along with the continental breakfast. I enjoyed being able to make my own waffles, or choose from options like a sausage sandwich, cereal, yogurt, and fruit. The only minor downside is the distance to the L, which is about a 10-minute walk. Other than that, I really enjoyed my stay and look forward to returning. Kinzie remains my favorite hotel in Chicago!

We stayed at the Kinzie Hotel during hot, humid weather followed by heavy rain and the hotel and staff (I wish I had remembered everyone’s names!) made everything seamless. The air conditioning was fantastic in both the lobby and the room. When we came in late one night after being caught in the rain, reception happily provided towels, which was a nice gesture that really stood out. Staff were consistently friendly and accommodating even with the extra crowds in town for the Manchester United game and Lollapalooza. We especially appreciated having a refrigerator in the room, a Keurig with coffee pods and a window seat to relax in. The location is very close to public transportation and the Riverwalk. The hotel valued security with room keys required to enter after hours and to access the elevators. Mornings were easy thanks to two breakfast stations, one in the lounge and another outside the elevators. There is a $27 daily fee for two guests for high-speed Wi-Fi for unlimited devices, a continental breakfast with hot and cold options (including a waffle maker!), happy hour with alcoholic and soft drinks along with popcorn and nut mix and other amenities like a gym and business center (we didn’t use). Overall, the Kinzie Hotel was faultless for our short stay and would absolutely stay here again.

I stayed at the Kinzie Hotel in Chicago for two nights, booked through Expedia. At check-in, the front desk asked for my credit card for incidentals only — which is standard. However, without my authorization, they charged my card for the first night of my stay, claiming that Expedia’s virtual card didn’t have enough funds because Expedia had canceled the first night. This charge was never disclosed or approved by me. I had already paid Expedia in full and expected all billing to be handled through them. When I called the hotel to dispute it, I asked to speak with a supervisor — instead of resolving the issue, the supervisor hung up on me. This experience left me feeling cheated and disrespected. Poor communication, lack of transparency, and outright rudeness from management make me strongly recommend avoiding the Kinzie Hotel. There are many other hotels in Chicago that value their guests and handle billing honestly — stay there instead
