A modern, stylish sanctuary in an architecturally rich town, the glass-walled Kinzie Hotel extends to its guests River North’s impeccable taste for what’s culturally relevant. The design is clean-lined, the art is eclectic and the inspiration derives from adventurous settler and trader John Kinzie. Great location! Clean rooms. Friendly staff. Simple hotel. No big lobby or gathering area but we didn't need that. Our room was very quiet and we were very glad we did not have a room on the 6th floor. The breakfast room and the happy hour room are located on the 6th floor and have a lot of people coming and going and talking loudly. The front desk staff will give you bottled water if you ask for it. Breakfast is simple with cereal, bread options, waffle maker, whole fruit, muffins. Happy hour offers 2 drinks and a salty snack. Drinks are either wine or beer (Modelo and Miller Lite on tap).

They made us wait unit 4:00 to check in, and then gave us a room with carpet that had just been deeply shampooed. The carpet was absolutely soaking wet. They even had a huge loud fan blower trying to speed up the drying. It was a health hazard. We couldn't believe it. When we went back to the front desk, there was another person there who switched our room for the same. Why didn't they just do that in the first place?

We stayed in a Deluxe King City View Room and it was wonderful! Our room was located on the 5th floor, facing onto West Kinzie Street. We had a view of the Marina City Towers and several other skyscrapers from the 3 huge windows that spanned the width of the room and extended to the ceiling. Due to the size of the windows and the tall ceilings, our room felt very bright and spacious. I really enjoyed the sitting area by the windows, the makeup mirror and stool in the bathroom, the double shower head in the shower, and the fact that our room contained both a mini fridge and a safe. I also liked that the hotel's front door requires a key after a certain time in the evening for security purposes, and that breakfast is included in the rate (though the breakfast room was absolutely packed almost every time we were there over our 5 day stay. The staff were doing a good job keeping everything refilled, but it was near impossible to find somewhere to sit!). The hotel feels modern and stylishly decorated, and due to daily housekeeping, everything always felt very clean. The hotel is also well located, less than 10 minutes from the River Walk and closest subway station, and surrounded by restaurants and nightlife. Even though our room faced onto a somewhat busy street (at least on the weekend, when the surrounding restaurant patios were buzzing), we heard minimal street noise. The only very small negative is that one of the window shades in our room was slightly broken and was very hard (and incredibly loud) to pull up or down. I know it could be heard by our neighbors in surrounding rooms, because occasionally I could hear the squeaking sound of someone in another room pulling theirs down at night.

I stayed at the kinzie twice this August. I absolutly love this hotel. You can tell Abdiel (the manager) leads his staff well. The entire front desk team is always so happy and welcoming, eager to help! Abdiel and Micalene (sorry if I spelt that wrong) worked the desk every morning and Deandre and angel and Demetrius worked the night shift. We had the chance to me Lani who is doing the overnight shift and is an absolute treasure. Every housekeeper you pass greets you with smiles and a friendly tone. Everyone is just so excited to be working here. You dont see this very often. The only negative would be the Nightly Service Fee ($27) for a below average breakfast and wifi that is very VERY spotty and the fruniture has seen better days. Even with that, I will continue to stay here just for the energy you get from every employee you meet. Love it!
