A reinvented and reimagined hotel and Pump Room with a new food concept by James Beard award winning chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten, will continue to be the fashionable spot it was originally envisioned to be, for an eclectic mix of people who come together to socialize and dine as they have for past decades. It will still be the hotel and Pump Room, but better. PUBLIC Chicago's 285 spacious and oversized guest rooms and suites are individually furnished with integrity, taste and superb functionality.

I booked online and was even a price of $51 per night. When checking in I received a additional bill of $281. They were charging us for a hotel package that they said was mandatory and their policy! Beware of this total bs and stay somewhere that is transparent with pricing. What the cost included was a $99 each day, breakfast and 2 drinks. It's not worth it and this was my 31st Wedding Anniversary. Our room had burnt furniture, stain curtain, dirty sheets and comforter. We told the front desk and were ignored even after emailing the hotel manager. I would never return for any price! Hotel is nice but the service socks and you can't get anyone on phone!

We stayed at this hotel for 3 nights for our granddaughter's wedding. We were very much looking forward to our stay and thought it would be a 4 star hotel. Great location. We arrived at 4 p.m. for the first night of our stay. Checked in at the desk, but they had trouble finding our reservation. Had gotten an email the night before confirming everything and it said just pick up key at front desk. 1. We had suitcases and wardrobe bags because we were part of a formal wedding. After about 15 minutes we found someone to help us get our things to the room. 2. Room large but very antiqued. Furniture had slip covers with patches. The bed was basically on the floor with a wood border. When my husband lied down it sunk to the floor. 3. Bathroom was extremely small. The shower was in a tube without any grab bars or anti slip stripes on the tub floor. It was very dangerous. 4. We had adequate towels, but it was not until the next day that we found out that room service (cleaning & new towels) was every 3 days. We had gotten to our room at 11:30 pm and after a busy day found this out. Went to the front desk for towels and they said would send them up. After a half hour went down again and the gentleman very abruptly gave me the towels. Never an apology. They could not tell me where it was written that room service was every 3 days. 5. Our room was $ 359 per night and certainly did not meet the standards you would expect. 6. We understand that the hotel was a Hyatt when we made a reservation a year ago but was sold in the spring. The new owners are a disgrace to a hotel that had a good reputation. We just wanted to warn anyone else if they were considering this hotel.

I booked with Trip Advisor App. They used a third party and the hotel would not honor the price. They charged my credit card without my permission( I had given it for a one time 125. Incidentals refundable charge) and never discussed the additional amount that was not what i agreed upon with Trip Advisor. I was also told by the manager Michael Ward that he would take care of any extra bill and was not given any receipt upon check out with the extra amount they added on my card without notification or permission. I called back and asked the manager for a copy of the bill. He said he would email it right away but still has not 2 days later. He also said he tried but could not help me with the unauthorized charges. I cant go back to Trip Advisor without a receipt. Total sham and later read horrible reviews about Michael Ward and the hotel up charging guests. I used to love staying at this hotel but it has really gone downhill and now has horrible customer service if you can even get a live person to answer the phone. They also have only one person at check in on the 3 days I was there and no manager present until the morning of my check out. Pathetic!

We had a poor reception when we checked in. The gentleman working 3rd shift was curt and abrasive. He was unapologetically rude.

While the hotel itself was nice, unfortunately your obliged to purchase meal/drink vouchers ($99 per night) when you book in, but if your a holiday maker you would most likely want to eat at different places each night, and not everyone drinks alcohol, which then makes these vouchers redundant, basically it’s a scam so be warned before booking at this hotel!!
