Worst Hotel Experience – Avoid This Place!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 7 hours ago

I had a reservation booked months in advance to stay at the Radisson Blu in Chicago for my niece’s 15th birthday. Upon check-in, the front desk staff repeatedly over-charged my two credit cards. They kept running the cards multiple times, placing several holds and charges on my accounts because they clearly did not know what they were doing. I now have three separate charges across two different cards, creating a huge mess with both my bank and credit card company. After dealing with multiple front desk employees and getting no resolution, the check-in experience became so unpleasant that I no longer felt comfortable staying there. I asked to cancel the reservation and go elsewhere, but the manager, Cynthia, refused. They told me it was “past the cancellation period” and would not refund me—even though it was their mistakes that caused the problem. In the end, I was left out hundreds of dollars for a stay I never even used. This hotel is unprofessional, unhelpful, and has no regard for customer service. They will take your money and not care. Do not stay here.

Great hotel. Clean. Centrally located. The outdoor pool is clutch. The staff was friendly. Shout out to Brie at the hotel’s bar restaurant.

Great location and restaurant staff - love the breakfast options

Mixed feeling about this hotel. The gym is fenomenal but only opens at 5 (which if you are jet lagged sucks) even though it opens earlier for the residents. Pools are fantastic (2). Locations is great. The restaurant is very good but you need to be lucky with who you get - Michael is just the BEST - super friendly, accommodating and overall so knowledgeable. The room cleaning is at odd hours and many times I come from a full day of work and my room hasn’t been done. Overall some points could be improved to make the experience even better but I will keep staying here.

High end hotel with great location and amenities (on paper) plagued by lack of guest services & front-of-house staffing!

Incredible busy lobby. Friendly customer-facing staff handled the lines admirably until I was checked into my room when all assistance from staff abruptly ceased. Cards issued at front desk stopped working after dropping off bags in room. Got locked out and had to return to lobby and re-enter long queue. New card issued worked but then second card mysteriously stopped working as well. Concierge and guest service lines went unanswered for 15+ minutes so I hung up. Called again later and left a message about desire to refrigerate perishables in my room (strongly worded mini bar policy advised that use of refrigerator in room would result in mini bar restocking charges if “sensors” detected that items had been “moved” regardless of whether items were taken or consumed) but received no response…at all. Staff at 221 Blu were lovely and accommodating, especially Milos.
