The Windy City has long been home to Italian and Irish Americans, but there is now a French revolution underway at 20 East Chestnut - where Sofitel Chicago Water Tower resides. This 32-story downtown delight boasts a sleek design with equally modern interiors. Rooms take on a minimalist feel without sacrificing noted amenities. It is pure pleasure with designer furnishings, oversize marble baths, and cityscape views. The lobby, illuminated by the soft glow of candles, boasts relaxing conversational nooks, intriguing artwork and the aroma of fresh flowers.

Great location in upscale Magnificent Mile neighborhood. 3 blocks from the El Everything was top notch. Hotel staff were very polite and helpful. Very nice room. There was a Nespresso machine. A couple of minor issues: no way to make tea, also A/C was a bit noisy so we had to turn it off at night. The breakfast at the restaurant downstairs was very tasty, but pricy (a la carte). We ended up eating there most of the days. In summary, great hotel, I would stay there again if the price is reasonable.

My recent stay at the Sofitel Chicago Magnificent Mile was excellent from start to finish. Although I booked through a third party, the reception at check-in was warm and friendly — thanks to Farooq and Osbaldo (OBI). They clearly explained all the benefits and made the arrival, the stay, and the departure feel effortless. Every staff interaction throughout the stay was warm, professional, and genuinely welcoming. Breakfast at CDA was beautifully prepared, with fresh pastries and attentive service that never felt rushed. I enjoyed the Sofitel Benedict and the Sofitel Breakfast Croissant the next morning. For dinner, Le Bar offers a mix of French, Italian, and Chicago-style dishes, along with a great bar where you can relax with your favorite cocktail. My room on the 19th floor was quiet, large, great views, spotless, and well-maintained. The signature Sofitel bedding basically feels like it hugs you after a long travel day. I requested specific pillows, and housekeeping delivered them the same morning. The bathroom was spacious and featured both a bathtub and a separate shower, with amenities you’d expect from a solid 4–5-star hotel. The overall atmosphere of the hotel felt calm, polished, and thoughtfully run. The location is excellent — within a five-minute walk of the Chicago Red Line station, close to great restaurants, cafés, the John Hancock Center, and many shopping outlets, malls, and grocers. Despite being right in the heart of the city, the hotel maintained a sense of comfort, privacy, and safety that I truly appreciated. I look forward to staying here again on future Chicago trips.

The hotel is good. Front Desk only had one receptionist and seemed overwhelmed. I started a line and someone walked past me and the guy behind me and approached the desk. The receptionist assisted that gentleman and ignored me and the other man standing in line and didn’t make the guy wait after us. It was a bad first impression. The room is nice and the bed is comfortable. The gym is above average. The bar hours are limited to the evenings.

There are "happy to help" hotel employees greeting you at the front door. At registration we were asked if we wanted an upgraded room. We were staying for 5 days, so we took the offer. It was a little more expensive, but the rooms were very spacious, (separate living room) and the bathroom was large. The rooms are very well appointed with desk, sofas , 2 large flatscreen tv's, fridge, automatic window screens, and coffee maker. The hotel is very convenient to everything, has a comfortable bar, and a dining room for breakfast and lunch off the lobby. The lobby is large with comfortable seating and all furnishings are clean and in good order. The down side was that our room faced the parking lot for the building next door. But my husband reminded me that we were in a large city and buildings were close in proximity. Our housekeeping ladies were very attentive, and friendly. Whatever we asked for (xtra towels and coffee pods) showed up in minutes, and continued for the balance of our stay. The beds are very comfortable and hard to stay awake in. We have stayed at the Sofitel before, and will stay there again next time...

I booked the room for the weekend on a surprise trip for me and my girlfriend. The hotel and its staff were very courteous and helpful. The rooms were spacious and clean. The only concern was the parking and the tv in the room. The garage itself was very difficult to get in and out of, I had to make extra time in my trip to prepare to leave the garage. The other issue was the tv in the room had suddenly stopped working and could not be repaired. The building engineers attempted to repair it but were unable to get it going. I appreciated the hardwork of the engineer but after an hour I decided to just cut our losses. It definitely changed the mood of the night but it was more of an inconvenience than anything. I appreciated my stay here very much and will definitely stay again in the future.
