Sophisticated yet cool, timeless with an edge, stimulating and comforting, Thompson Chicago surprises in unexpected ways. British design icon Tara Bernerd turns her worldly, eclectic sensibility to eleven for the Gold Coast boutique hotel with the stylish loft-like, urban industrial bones of the lobby and lounge accented with warm American woods and clean, mid-century lines. Rich textures of leather, velvet and flannel encourage guests to feel—literally—while the evocative art and curated book collection inspire a sense of discovery.

Second time staying here. Best location. Best staff!! Everyone who works here is amazing. Clean rooms and just overall a perfect experience staying here. Ahmad, at the front desk is a gem!

Thompson Chicago is my go-to hotel whenever I travel to Chicago for business, which is about 3-4 times a year. The location is perfect, the rooms are always clean, modern, and comfortable, and the staff consistently provides outstanding service. I always feel welcomed, and the experience is consistently excellent from check-in to check-out. I look forward to staying here every time I’m in Chicago. Highly recommend!

Only thing this Hotel has going for it is the location. There is a horrible smell in the lobby. It did not go away for six days that we visited. We tried to upgrade our room, but my mom‘s room was actually nicer who did not upgrade. She had a view of the lake. Our upgrade had a view of the two parking lots across the street. We were given two towels, no washcloths. They took the bathrobe after the first day when it hadbeen used and did not replace. They give you Dixie cups for the coffee, which was not good. There are also not sheets on the bed. Just the duvet and pillows are very uncomfortable. This is a very tired hotel that is in need of a refresh.

This was my third time staying at this hotel and once again really enjoyed my stay here. It's in a great part of Chicago in my opinion and have kind of made it my go to hotel when I'm in the city I use to live in and this property makes me feel like I'm "home". Upon arrival the front desk people were super nice and accommodating to my noise sensitivity issues. I always say the front desk people can make or break how you feel about a hotel going into and this one started off quite well so thank you to the front desk staff. The hotel is just what I remembered it being. Yes it might show a little age but nothing so bad that it tarnishes a stay. The room I had was spacious and well appointed. It even had a little couch in it if you don't want to just lay on the bed. It may have been a little on the darker side but that doesn't bother me. It was a nice room to come back to after a long shoot day. And it has a really nice shower. I did have breakfast here and thought it was pretty good. I'm a small breakfast eater and they had just what I needed. The menu had all your basic breakfast food fare so there is something for everyone. They serve breakfast in an atrium since the restaurant attached to the hotel isn't open for breakfast. It is very convenient to have Tavern On Rush attached to the hotel for dinner or just drinks. I didn't go there but it's very lively and seemed busy every time I passed it. There are a lot of other restaurants in walking distance and of course being in the city as a whole you can't say there is no where to eat. Another thing I really like about this hotel is that it's close to Lake Michigan and the walking/running/biking path. Whether you are athletic or not, it's nice to walk over there at the end of the day or start of the day to rev up your engines or decompress. Plus a lot of good views of the city can be had for the socials. Even the hotel is social picture friendly or just like to capture one's stay. Overall I would for sure stay here again and look forward to next time I'm in Chicago. Hopefully sooner rather than later.
