Reviews for The Whitehall Hotel

Magnificent Mile value with great free breakfast

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 days ago

The Whitehall is a classical great value just off the Magnificent Mile. You can see a history of past grandeur, especially in the breakfast dining room. It is a rare hotel in the area that offers free breakfast and no destination charges. The breakfast is not a slouch, with a huge buffet with many hot and cold items that change each day. The lobby, on the other hand, feels like a ticket window at a theater. There are just two "booths" with staff and things can get slow if there are a few people checking in at the same time. There are also only two elevators, so things can get slow if there are crowds. Luckily, there are also stairways that can use to go right up to your floor. We preferred using these most of our time there. The rooms are functional and have plenty of space. They have a mixed of modern and classic vibes with a few dated bits mixed in. It was a comfortable place to sleep and a great home base for exploring Chicago.

Great value, friendly hotel near Watertower Place

This is a well-located hotel with a friendly staff, affordable prices, and quiet rooms. There is an ample breakfast included, as well.

No AC! Terrible customer service

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

Location is excellent, but that’s the only good thing about this. The bed is alright but the AC won’t work. On a hot Chicago week, this was terrible.

Go Somewhere else…

The best thing about this stay was location and bed. I spent four days here and of that, 36 hours was without air and the room at almost 80 on the 11th floor. They do not complete housekeeping daily. The staff was disappointing as lacked communication and follow through. It was not worth the money when I could stay elseware for similar costs. Hotel is very outdated and less clean than I’m used to as I travel often.

My husband and I had the pleasure of staying at The Whitehall Hotel in March. The property is lovely with an Old World charm, and the food is wonderful. We were treated well by every employee, from the desk clerks to the waiters. We have already booked another weekend and cannot wait to return!.
