No AC! Terrible customer service

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 8 hours ago

Location is excellent, but that’s the only good thing about this. The bed is alright but the AC won’t work. On a hot Chicago week, this was terrible.

The best thing about this stay was location and bed. I spent four days here and of that, 36 hours was without air and the room at almost 80 on the 11th floor. They do not complete housekeeping daily. The staff was disappointing as lacked communication and follow through. It was not worth the money when I could stay elseware for similar costs. Hotel is very outdated and less clean than I’m used to as I travel often.

Can’t leave anything you want to keep in the room

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

I stayed here with my sister and daughter from March 28, 2026 to April 1, 2026. My sister booked this get away through Great Value Vacations. The hotel itself is okay. It does need some upgrades. Seems very outdated. But the main problem was that I left a necklace with a charm in my medicine case inside a small travel bag. It wasn’t extremely valuable so I didn’t think I needed to use the safe. The travel bag was on the counter where our clean towels were left. But the next morning my necklace was gone. I reported it to the front desk but they seemed unconcerned. It’s the small chain with the A charm in the photo which was taken on the day we traveled to Chicago. I would never stay there again

Life safety issue: our two rooms had an outer door in a small corridor that led to them. Our keys did not open this door to get to our rooms. We were told to leave this outer door propped open. When I asked what happens if the door closes and there is an emergency? They said "We'll just break down the door" Guaranteed us adjoining rooms. Rooms did not adjoin. I called twice and verified that they would be adjoining. They were not. Breakfast buffet kept running out of food and the lady running it told me she didn’t know if or when they would bring more food. Happened every day. Our air conditioner/heater broke. It was uncomfortable in our room the first 2 nights. The last day we asked about it again and they finally sent maintenance up to our room. Maintenance was in our room for an hour making the repair. Bathroom fixtures were in disrepair.

My husband and I had the pleasure of staying at The Whitehall Hotel in March. The property is lovely with an Old World charm, and the food is wonderful. We were treated well by every employee, from the desk clerks to the waiters. We have already booked another weekend and cannot wait to return!.
