Wonderful Stay at Six Senses Con Dao

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 days ago

My experience here was great. Staff were attentive while not being overbearing, and the resort itself is located in a great area, allowing us to enjoy the beach while also visiting the city easily. The resort has one of the cleanest beaches I've had the luxury of experiencing, adding to the overall atmosphere of the area, where you can overlook the clear waters from your room and enjoy a sunrise. The rooms were also large and comfortable, with anything you could need easily available. Overall, had a wonderful trip, and am super glad I chose this location for my mum's birthday weekend! Everything about the resort made the celebration more special. Would highly recommend this for anyone looking to take a break from the busyness of city life!

Super underated island, wonderful resort, and best Bun Bo Hue 🤪

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 days ago

For starters, the best Bun Bo Hue I’ve ever had is not in Hue or Saigon. It’s right here at this resort 😂😂. And if you’re not into Vietnamese food (you honestly should try some local cuisine!), their cold room is pretty amazing too 😍😍. I was so surprised to see that they even serve açai smoothies 😲. And if you’re not really into food, that’s okay, because this resort is wonderful in so many other ways. The villa is so cute, made entirely of solid wood and right on the beach. The main beach is also kind of private, so it basically feels like you have your own little beach, with tiny fish swimming around you. Coming from California, where the ocean is always so cold, being able to swim in warm water feels like such a blessing. And the view in the morning is beautiful. I can imagine that if I were traveling alone, I’d just sit on the balcony with a book, looking out at the endless sea and reflecting on life. And if you have kids, this place is a godsend. They have so many kids’ activities that you don’t have to spend your vacation coming up with “things to do” for them 😂. I honestly arrived at the hotel pretty jaded after a few weeks of continuous traveling and surgery, so I wasn’t really in the mood to do much for myself, or even think of things to do for my 5-year-old niece. We were so lucky enough to be able to send the baby turtles on the first day we arrived the hotel. Such a meaningful experience for my niece, (and myself of course) 🙏. And the resort has so many fun activities for kids that my niece absolutely adores the ladies who run them. Honestly, I think she loves them even more than she loves me, the person who literally sponsored her entire vacation. 😂😂. Oh check out their garden, they have a land tortoise that’s worth it for the kids. Overall, I’m really glad I ended up here, though I didn’t have a lot of time for myself (they do have a lot of adult activities. The only things I can do is yoga and some spa time). Whether you’re a foodie, a beach person, someone looking for a quiet place to recharge, or traveling with kids, there’s something here for you. I literally texted my friends to ask them to come with me next time just to fully enjoy the island as an adult 🤷🏻‍♀️. P/S: The cemetary here is much nicer than I thought. Of course it’s not Bonaventure Cemetery in Georgia but It hosts a resting place of a very famous Vietnamese heroine.

A relaxed and remarkable Paradise.

Arriving at Six Senses felt immediately welcoming and peaceful. It is located on a wide beach cove surrounded by National Park. Our villa was right on the beach with direct access and a view across the whole bay especially from the second storey. With our own private pool looking across the beach and ocean relaxing was immediate for the whole stay. The villa was well appointed and maintained. The use of natural and environmentally friendly and sustainable products was remarkable. We had a staff member, Huy, (GEM) who was always available to assist us with any questions, experiences or tours we wished to enjoy such as kayaking, the Turtle Talk, a private local cultural tour of the Island etc. All was managed in a very friendly, relaxed and professional manner. Nothing was too much trouble. We wanted to hike Elephant Mountain: we were given advice on the timing so we could experience sunset from the peak and provided with private car transfer to the beginning of the track. Huy kept in contact with us during the hike and organised a car to collect us as we returned to the beginning of the track several hours later. Huy’s attention to detail and getting to know us personally enabled us to take full advantage of our time at Six Senses while stress free making arrangements- things just happened and we knew every detail had been attended to. As a medically diagnosed Coeliac who can have no gluten at all as even a minuscule amount of gluten from cross contamination etc can make me very sick for a number of days. I felt completely safe. Huy understood my food requirements and had notified each restaurant and bar. I did not need to explain my autoimmune disease or my requirements on any occasion. Staff knew immediately my food needs. I was welcomed and was able to select nearly anything on the menus that the chef adjusted to make it completely gluten free even using a separate prep area and equipment. I was able to completely relax and enjoy every aspect of our very special time at Six Senses. Other staff we interacted with from the restaurants, kayaking/ beach lifeguards, Turtle Talk and room staff and gardeners were are highly professional, friendly and always ready to assist. Our stay at Six Senses was indeed amazing. We have travelled the world and this stay was indeed very special. The location, villa, private pool, the deserted private beach, the choice of foods within the restaurants and the appointment of a personal GEM staff to assist with anything at all makes Six Senses remarkable.

Amazing experience

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 weeks ago

I have stayed at luxury hotels in various parts of the world, but the level of hospitality here was truly exceptional. All of the hotel staff were extremely friendly while remaining highly professional and attentive, and they responded to even the smallest requests with a warm smile. Having dedicated staff looking after us throughout our stay made everything incredibly comfortable. They also recommended activities based on our interests and, importantly, suggested activities and ways to spend our time depending on the weather and our condition on any given day. We were extremely satisfied with the overall experience, thanks to Huy, our Guest Experience Maker. As a Japanese guest, I am accustomed to the exceptionally high level of service that Japan is known for. Even compared with Japanese hospitality, I found the service at Six Senses to be outstanding. In Japan, staff generally treat you very respectfully as a valued guest. At Six Senses, of course, you are treated as a guest, but the staff also interact with you in a way that feels much more like being cared for by friends or family. That made the experience feel particularly warm and personal. The accommodation consists of private villas, and most of them have direct access to the beach. The villas have a wonderful atmosphere and are extremely comfortable, convenient and clean. In the evening, the staff prepare the villa for the night, including taking care of insects such as mosquitoes, so you can stay comfortable even though the villas are surrounded by lush greenery and nature. It is really quiet in the night and falling asleep to the sound of the waves was simply heavenly. The private pool attached to the villa is also spacious enough to enjoy comfortably as a family. The beach stretches for approximately two kilometers and is truly magnificent. The food was excellent as well, and reasonable price. I stayed with my wife and our three-month-old baby, and we did not experience any inconvenience at all. Of course, we brought some of our own essentials, such as formula, an electric kettle, and diapers. There were also many families staying with young children, and the resort provides an environment where even small children can enjoy themselves. We visited in early September, which is during the rainy season. However, there were still plenty of periods of sunshine, and we were able to fully enjoy the sun. Although the rainy season seems to be considered the off-season, watching the rain from our villa and seeing the weather constantly change was actually one of the highlights of our stay. It allowed us to experience the grandeur of nature in a way that was both beautiful and deeply moving. If you are able to stay for three nights or more, I would highly recommend visiting during the rainy season as well. You can enjoy not only bright, sunny weather, but also experience the many different faces of Con Dao Island.

The most wonderful experience

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

We came to Con Dao with high expections but could never foresee this amazing experience and we are still, months later, still talking about it. The resort itself is quietly magical. Beautiful, calm, genuinely luxurious, but in the most understated way. Our villa was the finest we have ever stayed in, the view unbeatable, and every small detail across the property seemed designed around one thing: making you feel completely spoiled without ever making a fuss about it. But what turned a beautiful stay into an unforgettable one was Trúc, our GEM. She was genuinely warm in a way you simply cannot train into people. Always available, always one step ahead, and truly invested in making our days special. She arranged everything from the morning yoga, sound healing session to the cooking class. She even arranged a private date night with an outside jungle movie just for us two. Weeks after we came home she wrote again to send us the recipes we had asked about. That is not service, that is care. A separate thank you to the kitchen. My wife Linda is gluten intolerant, and we have never experienced a resort that goes this far. Freshly baked gluten-free bread waiting every single morning. And beyond that, the chef made his own gluten-free pasta from scratch, baked gluten-free hamburger buns, and prepared his own gluten-free pizza dough. Nothing was ever a problem, nothing was ever a lesser version of the real thing — she simply got to eat like everyone else, which anyone living with an intolerance will understand is rarer than it should be. The rest of the team was every bit as good. From the moment we were picked up at the airport, every single host we met was clearly working towards the same thing my our stay the best experience ever. A special thank you to Manjit Ghosh, the General Manager. He took the time to have a coffee with us several times just to check in and also share his great experiences from around the world. He has created lovely atmosphere at the resort and the standard of his team say everything about the culture he has built there. We can warmly recommend Con Dao to anyone, and if you go, do ask for Trúc as your host. You will not regret it.
