About the Hotel

Dating back to 1682, the Steenberg Hotel is an exquisite historic wine farm set in the foothills of South Africa's magnificent Constantia Valley. Although just 20 minutes from the center of Cape Town, this serene set of buildings - declared an official National Monument - is its own seductive world, surrounded by vineyards and an 18-hole championship golf course. The buildings have been lovingly restored and decorated traditionally with antiques in elegant 17th-century style. In your delightful guest room or suite, you will discover a wealth of treats, which may include a romantic patio with views of the vines and fairways.

We have been here before a couple of times. For us it's a wonderful retreat in its setting. Very friendly and helpful staff.

Perfect stay for a honeymoon!

We loved this stay as you didn’t have to leave the hotel. The spa was great and the two restaurants made it feel really big. The room was amazing, so modern and clean.

A home away from home

This property is truly special. The attention to detail and the warmth and hospitality of the team is outstanding. Food is unbeatable and the location and gardens make for a retreat experience. I would highly recommend for guests looking for a relaxing time in Cape Town - a stones throw from everything without the hustle and bustle - and a top-class 18-hole golf course at the "bottom of the garden". Over-exceeded on all expectations.

An exceptional experience in a carefully manicured paradise.

An exceptional experience in a carefully manicured paradise. The setting is simply beautiful, nestled between the vineyards and an 18 hole golf course this hotel consists of sympathetically converted old colonial buildings. One building housing and exquisite restaurant Tryn. The separate winery 5 minutes away houses a further bistro and wine tasting suite, stunning. A lovely vineyard walk gives rise to some amazing views. As non golfers, we could only respect the standard of the fairways and greens that looked immaculate. Breakfast was a real treat, impeccable service, super quality and great choice. Food here is a real highlight Our room was spacious. Fully equipped, very comfortable, air conditioned, modern and very high quality in all respects.

The Steenberg is absolutely beautiful and the staff couldn't have been more gracious, friendly and professional. The food at Cathrina's restaurant was beautifully prepared and the service was exceptional. The property offers lots to do but the staff also gave us the option do using their transportation to visit other wine properties in the area as well as other fine restaurants. Though only 30 minutes from the heart of Cape Town you are truly in the country and away from it all. My wife and I would go back and stay for a week in a heart beat and it is a must on the next visit to South Africa.” L. We stayed in the hotel for 5 days. Playing 18 holes on the Steenberg golf course is an experience I'll never miss. So we decided already to go again!

We stayed at the Steenberg Hotel in September. We would very highly recommend Catharina's, the restaurant attached to the hotel. We couldn't find fault the food and service here - wonderful.
