Reviews for Hotel St. Michel

Almost Perfect

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

Conveniently located, quaint, charming and clean; the price point at this very European historic hotel makes it a very good choice for anyone seeking a unique accomodation in Coral Gables. We had a lovely dinner and very pleasant breakfast at the hotel restaurant, Zucca, and as with hotel staff found both waitresses both professional and amicable. The prices were a bit high but not exorbitant given the quality of food and romantic fine dining ambiance. Regarding our specific room in the hotel, 206, it was quiet and comfortable but the pretty bathroom was really tiny. We were told that other rooms have larger bathrooms and we will request one of those when we return. And we will return.

Updated chic historic hotel

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

Ok there are a few quirks to any historic hotel but I still give this 5 stars. The last time I stayed here I believe I entitled my review “Shabby Chic” as it badly needed a renovation. Now the rooms are thoughtfully updated yet retaining the unique charm of yesteryear. Good quality amenity items for the bath and everything still feels new. The only criticisms are the shades are not “black out” if you are a light sleeper. However we did not notice any noise from other rooms and ours was right by the staircase so we slept well. The coffee selection is the barest minimum - not even real milk which is a must have in my book. The restaurant downstairs, Zucca is delicious and lovely however I paid $23 for 1 glass of wine plus 18 percent mandatory gratuity so nearly $30 for a very small pour. All said and done I recommend this property for anyone who enjoys historical hotels!

A small hotel with Character

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed October 5, 2024

I really enjoy staying at Hotel St Michel in Coral Gables. It’s a small, older hotel and it has such character. If you are looking for a huge, cookie cutter hotel like Marriott or Hilton, The St Michel is not it. I think this hotel is quiet and very romantic. It’s great for a solo person on a business trip or a romantic getaway for a couple to Miami. It’s conveniently located close to Miracle Mile for shopping. I always find the employees to be respectful and helpful.

Great overnight alternative to airport or downtown hotels.

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed June 23, 2024

I just spent one night here in between flights. It is very convenient from MIA airport, just a 15 minute taxi ride, so as quick as going downtown and shorter than Miami Beach. The hotel is a bit of a classic in the architecture, with a feeling like you stepped back to the 1950s or so. In fact the elevators are still operated manually! This can be a bit of a pain if you are in a hurry, but a quirky touch I think. My room was the opposite: totally modern. The price was moderate, and better than a lot of similar quality hotels downtown. I'd definitely stay here again, especially in transit overnight from the airport.

Excelente location, fast check in , our room was ready upon arrival around lunch time. There is very good restaurant inside the hotel. The old elevator is an experience, our room very comfortable with a beautiful smell super clean. Comfortable bed and nice linen. Staff are very polite. Great place to stay.
