Tresanton is a cluster of houses on the edge of St Mawes, one of the prettiest fishing villages in Cornwall. All rooms have views across the sea towards St Anthony’s lighthouse. Tresanton has 30 rooms and suites, a restaurant with large terraces, a room for private parties, a dogs’ bar and a private sailing boat. We love children and have a playroom and children’s garden. There is no muzak whatsoever at Tresanton only the sound of the waves and the occasional Sea Shanty.

Beautiful location overlooking the sea. Hotel comprised of a couple of buildings so if you are in the annexe you have to go outside to get to the hotel. I was recovering from an operation and had to negotiate a narrow spiral iron staircase to the room. Restaurant was pleasant but menu very limited. Lounge felt like a care home. No pool and the treatment room was in another building and had not been warmed up. Overcharged on the bill for wine we didn’t order. Definitely not a luxury hotel experience.

A world-class hotel. My partner and I visited for our engagement celebration, the staff were so incredibly friendly, helpful and engaging. The food was fantastic at the restaurant and we left feeling like we'd experienced the very best Cornwall (even the UK) has to offer. They even managed to retrieve an empty bottle of champagne that had been thrown away that we wanted to keep for sentimental reasons! Special thank you to Karen Baxter (GM) for making our trip a memory we will never forget!

Had lunch here on Boxing Day, the views looking over to the light house are stunning. The food is top notch and would highly recommend this hotel for food, it’s top end price wise but definitely worth it for a treat

Popped in for drinks (really appreciated that prices were reasonable for soft drinks). Staff were adorable and attentive and the lounge area was delightful (great selection of newspapers). However, as a suggestion, perhaps some light music as the atmosphere is rather library-like. Church quiet - sort of waiting for God; it was horrible to hear others masticating or rattling keys, so much so, when my husband offered a birthday stay, I declined.

My husband and I have visited the Hotel Trenton for a number of years. We're both lovers of gardens so part of our experience here has been that. Last spring we visited and spoke to the head gardener (we can't remember his name) but he was wonderful, he kept the gardens beautifully and even gave us some free cuttings which have grown so well! we were sad to see the gardens last week in such a sorry state compared to before. Then are tidy but plants are struggling, things haven't been cut correctly and we spoke to who we thought was the gardener and they just walked away from us. When I asked one of the staff members they said they had lost the head gardener last year and where aware of issues so were both pleased that hopefully these will be sorted now. We had a lovely stay again and our usual morning coffees on the decking. This was part of a little tour of Cornwall we do regularly so we only stayed for 2 nights. we cannot fault the room or the service so have simply removed some of the trip adviser circles based on our experience in the grounds and the lack of conversation with one of the grounds team.
