About the Hotel

Glorietta Bay Inn is a century-old mansion originally built by sugar magnet John D. Spreckels in 1908. Its envious location, overlooking the bay on lovely Coronado island across the harbor from downtown San Diego, is just one block from the beach and steps away from a fleet of upscale shops and restaurants that line charming Orange Avenue. The rooms, housed in both the original mansion and a more modern annex, are all newly-remodeled with varying appointments. Those who slumber beneath the storied roofs enjoy extra plush bedding and fabulous views, plus turndown service with milk and cookies left bedside for late-night noshing. All guests are privy to an expanded continental breakfast and afternoon refreshments. The inn also has a refreshing swimming pool for anyone wanting to take a plunge.

Just what we needed!

Suite was very spacious. Staff was very kind, patient and accommodating. Great location - we could walk everywhere around Coronado Island including the beach. Breakfast was good, too! Very quiet.

Great Experience

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

We had a wonderful stay at Glorietta Bay Inn! The staff is always so kind, welcoming, and incredibly helpful—they truly go out of their way to make you feel at home. The breakfast is delicious and such a great way to start the day, with fresh options and everything tasting homemade. The hotel itself is charming, clean, and in a perfect location. We look forward to staying here every time we visit and highly recommend it to anyone coming to Coronado!

Beautiful historic living landmark

Loved the Glorietta Bay Inn. Definitely recommend the mansion rooms. We stayed in the Garden Suite, which had everything we needed including a kitchenette with a full size refrigerator and dishes/utensils. The patio was ver nice too, even though we didn’t use it. The room was spacious and the bed was very comfortable. Staff were great, including complimentary breakfast early each morning with different meals between days. The free parking is a nice plus, and the location is close to downtown.

Mixed experience

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

Our experience at the Glorietta was mixed. The staff and service was wonderful. We arrived early and our early check in request was accommodated. Our disappointment was the room. It was clean but feel the value for what we paid was not what we expected. The Deluxe King room pictured and described on the website was much nicer than the one we stayed in. The website shows a beautiful patio. Ours felt very enclosed and we couldn’t see past the large hedge surrounding it. The room was also much smaller than the one pictured on the website. The website describes patio views of the inns grounds and courtyard landscaping. Beyond the hedges of the room we stayed in was a street. I would suggest offering rooms like ours at a lower price with an accurate picture. We would stay there again but I would be specific about what room I would like.

We stayed at Glorietta Bay in the Sugar Baron Suite. The overall experience was outstanding with service world-class. We would definitely stay at the Glorietta Inn again.
