Glorietta Bay Inn is a century-old mansion originally built by sugar magnet John D. Spreckels in 1908. Its envious location, overlooking the bay on lovely Coronado island across the harbor from downtown San Diego, is just one block from the beach and steps away from a fleet of upscale shops and restaurants that line charming Orange Avenue. The rooms, housed in both the original mansion and a more modern annex, are all newly-remodeled with varying appointments. Those who slumber beneath the storied roofs enjoy extra plush bedding and fabulous views, plus turndown service with milk and cookies left bedside for late-night noshing. All guests are privy to an expanded continental breakfast and afternoon refreshments. The inn also has a refreshing swimming pool for anyone wanting to take a plunge.

Highly recommend the Glorietta Bay Inn. Very comfortable accommodations, comfortable bed, very clean unit. Excellent front desk staff and management. Very well staffed throughout the hotel, friendly and hard working staff. Excellent full breakfast with many food choices. Prime location, walking distance to beach, shops and restaurants. We will definitely return to the Glorietta Bay Inn.

We got moved to the Glorietta Bay by the Coronado Beach Resort as they had over booked their hotel. It wouldn’t have been my choice. However the location is great for the beach, shops and restaurants. The staff are so friendly and helpful, they are a total credit to the hotel. The small pool is lovely to relax around & plenty of nice little touches like free infused water & afternoon cookies, papers & coffee. Breakfast was so good, nice hot selection which was always hot, with bagels, muffins and toast. The fruit was good plus muffins cereal and pancakes. I was also grateful for the laundry room a full load of washing and drying was $2.50 and the reception offered me a small box of washing powder. The only downside was our room, it was a one bedroom suite at the back of the hotel. It was very dark and dingy, smelt of damp and was very tired and old. It was disappointing and does need a renovation. The cleaning of the room wasn’t up to scratch either and the sheets on my daughter’s bed were stained. Some of the renovated rooms look amazing so if you choose this hotel make sure you check the rooms before booking. It’s lovely boutique hotel in a wonderful location with amazing staff and nice touches - if they renovated the suites at the back it would have been perfect.

Just returned from a 5 night stay at GBI, our second this summer. We have been staying here for decades and feel that the location and friendliness of staff can’t be beat. We were assigned our favorite room and slipped into our routine of walking, going to the beach, and spending time with family very seamlessly. We’ll be back!

The staff and management are all friendly and helpful. Some, like Claudia and Raj, have been there for years and treat you like old friends. I’ve only stayed in the contemporary one or two bedroom suites behind the original mansion building. They’ve all been roomy and comfortable, with coffee makers, microwaves, mini fridges at the minimum. The Glorietta is across the street from the beach and the Hotel Del at half the cost. We switched about 10 years ago.

We stayed at Glorietta Bay in the Sugar Baron Suite. The overall experience was outstanding with service world-class. We would definitely stay at the Glorietta Inn again.
