Elounda Mare Hotel

Stayed for 4 nights in a bungalow with a private pool. This was my first trip to the hotel but will not be the last. From check-in to check-out, staff were professional, courteous, and attentive. Though everyone was great, special mention goes to Nagia, Lena, “Bruce” and Farag for their efforts during our stay. They were matched by the beauty of the property, which was clearly well-maintained. Breakfast the first day was underwhelming, but it seemed to run better on the subsequent mornings with ample sweet and savoury buffet options as well as menu and custom hot items from the kitchen. Any request or item we ordered was accommodated without issue. The rooms were cleaned each day thoroughly, which is essential given this is a beach resort. There was ample space to enter the water at different points, including from the beautiful blue flag beach. This was a beautiful, relaxing holiday spot and delivered on everything that was promised, and I would not hesitate to return. We had a delicious lunch at the Yacht Club, and it didn’t disappoint. The only other dining experience we had was at the Old Mill, but there was access to dining at the adjoining Elounda resort, which was a nice option if we had needed it. Overall, I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend the Elounda Mare and plan to return. If there was something to be improved, it would be the firmness of the mattresses, which shocked me as someone who typically prefers a firmer mattress, and the offerings at the Old Mill. The bed could have benefited from a mattress topper to reduce pressure on hips and shoulders. Much more significantly, the meal at the Old Mill was generally underwhelming. There was a lot of talk about its awards, but the overall impression it left was “meh”. The ravioli was alright, though the pasta at the edges was too thick; the Staka appetizer lacked contrast in both flavour and texture, and the sauteed Sea Bream was just okay. Were it not for the effusive recommendations from staff, the cost and the comparison with the Yacht Club, I would have thought it was an okay hotel meal but having had a delicious casual meal at the Yacht Club, and hearing the hype set us up for an expectation that the restaurant just didn’t meet in terms of the food that actually arrived at the table. These two challenges were the only things that didn’t live up to the rest of the experience, but neither were enough to mar an otherwise picture-perfect experience.

Very nice the people and the service, the water wonderful , you offer all type of service. I only think, that you need to modern the hightech service and the mattress a lot of them are ready to be change. The SPA es really good. Pls change the matresses.

I stayed at this hotel 30 years ago, when I was just a little girl. Even though I was only a child, my experience here left such a deep impression on me that I developed an irresistible desire to work in the hotel industry — perhaps one day even to run my own hotel. And ever since, I have never been able to choose an ordinary hotel, wherever in the world I have travelled. My family and I come to Crete or Greece every year. Greece is our second home. I even got married in Greece. This year, we returned to Elounda Mare, and I was so deeply moved and overwhelmed by the experience that I cried all the way home on the flight. I honestly don't know if there are words that can fully express what this stay has given me. I am filled with gratitude. You are truly wonderful. ❤️

This is my second time visiting Elounda Mare and it was incredible and deserves another review as I did not realise just how perfect this place was on my first visit as it was too short. Everything about the hotel is spot on. All the rooms are so comfortable and quiet and they all have a direct sea view. Despite this they are all very walkable to reception and even to the beach. The whole walk everywhere you go in the hotel has perfectly manicured gardens without any missing elements and you can see the sea, which is crystal clear every day. The beach for this particular hotel is unique as it is quiet, perfectly sandy, has very efficient friendly service and you can swim for hundreds of metres uninterrupted by any boats or imperfect landscape. The breakfast has a breathtaking view and a great array of options. Most importantly, every single member of staff goes out of their way to make sure you are comfortable and are always friendly regardless of your needs. Special thanks to Ioanna in guest relations for making our stay exceptional. Everyone from the reception, the beach, room service, housekeeping, restaurant for breakfast and lunch and the water sports made our stay memorable and we felt very accommodated the whole time. Even the pet dog of the beach is the friendliest we have met! We will Certainly be back! Elounda Mare is a one of a kind magical place.

Absolutely perfect experience, stunning property with a lot of character and plenty of different areas to relax and swim, has as well a surprising collection of a few shops on the property. The staff in all areas were incredible.
