Location is A+. Rooms was very nice and what views. They provided towels , beach chairs and floatation devices which makes it so easy to travel to the coves. Had mid-week room cleaning and they did a great job Kitchenette came in very handy.

This place is amazing, the people are friendly, and St John is beautiful as ever. To the person from Englewood Cliffs who complained about the island itself April 2026 - it's very apparent, based on quite a few of your poor reviews of other places, you are not a happy person and will never be, and maybe its best you just don't travel at all because of your inability to acclimate and your fear of everything. Reviews are meant to be bias but helpful, and yours doesn't make sense. You are damaging businesses with your one-star reviews. If you don't like walking hills, don't go. Almost every island in the Caribbean has hills and lack infrastructure, such as sidewalks, and it doesn't seem to be a problem for anyone else. Plenty of taxis are always around, some even have business cards so you can contact them directly throughout your day to collect you; however, you don't need a cab to get to Grande Bay from the ferry. It is certainly not a mile walk from the ferry to the resort (Google Maps actual distance is 0.3), please don't exaggerate, it takes 5 minutes or less to walk there and I wouldn't call it an uphill hike. For those of you who want to see what it is like to walk up to the resort, check out YouTube. Plenty of live feed and travel videos contradict this person's review. This island has everything you need and cabs or car rentals easily within walking distance (Grande Bay has their own rental service). Everyone who has visited has nothing bad to say about any of the islands. Be sure to also check out the FB pages for the USVIs. You will find a wealth of helpful tips and suggestions to make your vacation a blast.

If I could give this place zero stars, I would. Let me start with the only positive. The room itself was fine. The kitchen was actually nice and usable. That is the full list of pros. Everything else was a complete mess. First, St. John. The island felt like chaos. The infrastructure is terrible. Roads are in awful condition and just getting around feels unsafe. We had multiple moments where we honestly felt like we could have gotten seriously hurt just trying to go from one place to another. It's basically a trashed island. DO NOT GO. Now the hotel location. Be ready for a one mile uphill hike to get there. Not a nice walk. A steep, exhausting climb in the heat that feels completely unreasonable. And there are no taxis nearby. None. If you want to get anywhere, you have to walk down the road and hope you do not get hit by a car because there are barely any safe walking areas. The room itself was hit or miss. Again, the kitchen was good. That is the only nice thing I can say. The bed was uncomfortable and the pillows were a joke. They felt like stiff slabs, not actual pillows. This was easily the worst vacation of my life. Between how unsafe everything felt, how hard it was to get around, and how uncomfortable the stay was, I would not recommend this to anyone.

My husband and I stayed at Egret's Rest at Grande Bay Resort. We stayed for 2 weeks and had a fantastic time! The condo is fully functional!!! On nights we didn't go out to eat, we cooked our own meals and had no problem finding whatever we needed! All the comforts of home! The view from the balcony is amazing. No TV was watched...there's was plenty to watch from the balcony. We arrived to a clean and comfortable environment! Very close to town...walk to everything. We've stayed at Egret's Rest over the past several years. I'm happy to point out that even though Egret's Rest is now managed by someone else (LISA PAOLETTI St John Guest Services) we were still received with open arms! Lisa made sure we had everything we needed and was very accessible. Great place!!!

Location was excellent as it was within walking distance to restaurants and dining in Cruz Bay. The view from our balcony was great. A plus was the beach chairs, coolers, and towels for use at the beach. The main negative was the lack of adequate bath soap. We had very small bath soap bar that only lasted the Two of us two days. After calling the front desk to request more we were told it was our responsibility to go to a store and purchase ourselves. If you plan to stay more than two days then I suggest you bring your own bath soap.
