Reviews for Culver Hotel

A gem in plain view!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 weeks ago

A gem in plain view! We loved our four night stay at this historic hotel. Kudos to the new owners who did a phenomenal job of renovating while maintaining the vintage Hollywood look and feel! The 1st floor restaurant is worth a visit in and of itself--so much attention to detail. We dined there with family and it was excellent (food and service). A shout out to Juan, who (at our request) regaled us with some of the hotel's history and connections to the Classic Wizard of Oz movie (filmed nearby at what used to be MGM Studios), while plying us with large and delicious lattes. He filled us in on the upstairs bar that used to be a speak-easy during prohibition. When the staff are that excited about the history of the hotel, that really says something! Billy the bartender whipped out delicious cocktails. Our room was beautifully restored with an art deco feel (but new mattress:). After Sony took over the old MGM site, it and Culver City fostered an entire gentrification of the surrounding area, while maintaining the "vintage Hollywood" roots. The hotel sits amid many wonderful restaurants, shops and theaters, all sporting the art deco style. Check out the beautiful City Hall and the Kirk Douglas Theater. We have family in Culver City that we usually stay with, but from how on the Culver Hotel will be our go-to spot.

An Experience, not a Hotel.

Stayed at Culver City, for our grand daughter’s UCLA graduation, and it was a delightful experience. This was like going back in time. During the Wizard of OZ, production, Culver hosted the Lolly Pops Guild munchkins. The unique charm is very well up-kept by all Culver Hotel employees, specially Diana Khngikian Manager and Executive Chef. Our stay here was simply delightful.

Heritage Heaven!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 months ago

I absolutely loved my stay at this heritage hotel!! In the heart of Culver City, surrounded by bars and restaurants, it is one of the few walkable areas. The lack of a spa/gym/pool are compensated by the location, and its old world charm. I loved the food at their restaurant. Their afternoon tea on Saturday/Sunday is delightful. I stayed here for 4 nights/ 5 days. I loved my room on the 5th floor. The hotel provides daily cleaning service, and complementary water bottles (something I appreciate). The noise from the bustle around the hotel can be a bit of bother, late evenings. Next to the Culver Steps, with a movie theatre right opposite, and plenty of bars and restaurants in the vicinity - makes this a great hangout area. It is very lively most days, especially during weekends. I even took a tour of Sony Studio close by - an interesting experience. The "Platform" - walking distance from the hotel also has shopping/dining options. I would highly recommend this hotel.

Best hotel in Culver City

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 6 months ago

I had one of the best solo trips staying here. All the staff I ran into were engaging and accommodating. Food and beverage service was a 10/10 as well as the ambiance and offerings. I will definitely be back. Who knew Culver City had so much to do!

Beautiful, but stay away if you have a car.

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 6 months ago

Location and bar are beautiful. But if you have a car? Look elsewhere. Seriously. First, no place to unload when we arrived. Large truck in front for 45 minutes . We had to park in a parking deck down the street. When we checked in, we were told to bring the car back to unload (not sure how, as the truck still there) and take car to a Trader Joe’s parking lot. Ultimately, we schlepped the bags from the original lot to check in. At check out, no one offered to help load car or anything else, honestly. Teeny workout room, small guest rooms generally. Our daughter lives in LA, but this will be the last visit at this hotel for us.
