Reviews for JW Marriott El Convento Cusco

Stunning hotel & excellent experience

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 days ago

Excellent experience! Staff are all very friendly and ‘bend over backwards’ to help. Always smiling. Daniella & Oscar, at breakfast, deserve particular praise…they remembered our names and speak excellent English (& taught us some Spanish!) Breakfast was exceptionally good (“ricco”) with a stunning courtyard in the sun. Including a 3month old Alpaca! We did the Tour of the hotel (originally a convent with Inca remnants). Spectacular setting and close to all Cusco’s attractions. I would highly recommend staying here.

Ambience, professional staff, great hotel.

A terrific hotel in Cusco, very stylish which is also enhanced by the history that you can enjoy on the nightly tour, just a great touch. Very professionally run and a huge thank you to Fernando Fernandez Baca, who listened to a grievance we had, in relation to our room but was apologetic and addressed it. This hotel is in a great area, for walking to the different parts of town. We just loved it.

Property to choose!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

The JW Marriott El Convento Cusco is conveniently located in the city centre. As the name suggests, it is a former convent dating back to colonial times, and its architecture reflects this unique history. Cusco sits at an altitude of 3,400 metres, which can cause some discomfort for visitors due to the thin air. Thus, one of the advantages of this property is the oxygen enrichment available in the rooms — a real added bonus! It was a pity we only stayed here for two nights. Check-in was handled in a personalised and efficient manner. We used nightly upgrade awards and were assigned suite #343, with a courtyard view. A spacious suite, with separate living and bedroom areas, two bathrooms (one of them fully equipped), and a generous supply of bath amenities. There was also a large balcony. The King bed was extremely comfortable, even including a nighttime fragrance. Housekeeping, including turndown service, was excellent. Complimentary water and capsule coffee were provided. Unfortunately, we didn’t have the opportunity to enjoy lunch or dinner at the hotel, but regarding breakfast and cocktails, we can say they were of high quality. In summary, we highly recommend this property, which features attractive architecture, a well-trained staff, luxurious service, and a perfect welcome.

Why stay anywhere else?!!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

From point of check in to our check out… the service is just beyond fantastic! The location! The accommodating staff, the wonderful breakfast buffet, the full service bar and their Pisco Sours… to the tour of the hotel and its historical site, this place wowed us! Señor Jaime, Señor Alexander, Señorita Sylvia… and everyone else who made our stay memorable… gracias muchisimas! Breakfast to go was terrific and thank you for creating a special one for me every time! I would return to Cusco just to stay in this hotel! The location is convenient, our daily walk around the town after our tour made us appreciate its location. But wait! The room, the bedsheets, the amenities… it’s like the Four Seasons!!! Thank you everyone for making us so happy with our stay at the JW Marriott El Convento Cusco!

Consistently Outstanding Service

What stood out to me at this property was the consistency of the service. I think it's probably the best Marriott we have ever stayed at, as far as the service goes. Literally every person we dealt with at the hotel was amazing, from the front desk staff, to the young man on the omelette station in the morning. All very friendly, professional and attentive. It was a pleasure staying here. I have already recommended this hotel to other friends that are heading to Cusco in a couple of months. The hotel was also beautiful, and in a great location close to the Plaza.

One of the best hotels I've ever experienced. A hidden treasure blended with beauty and luxury with a modern lifestyle touch, tucked away in a city rich in culture.

Of the many fine attributes of the JW Marriott Cusco, the blending of historical architecture with modern comforts and high design is most unusual and perfectly executed. From the soft lighting to the rich dark woods and stone in the public areas, the understated atmosphere distinguishes itself as belonging uniquely to the Cusco property. And that holds true all the way to the lower levels where the lovely spa is intimately nestled. Not only was the staff properly warm, friendly and bi-lingual, but equally important highly skilled at their duties (which is surprisingly not always the case in fine hotels).
