We stayed two nights in a deluxe king room at the JW Marriott El Convento Cusco as part of a larger bespoke tour around Peru. This property was booked by our tour company (we were given two options to choose from, and we chose this one because while both had great reviews on Tripadvisor, we’re Titanium members so figured why not choose a Marriott property.) There are some excellent reasons to stay here. The bed was super comfortable and the room was terrific for sleeping: the room was really dark when the curtains were closed, and the temperature control was great. The inner courtyard is beautiful to relax in. The bar drinks were good and our bartender was great! As an added bonus the glasses of wine were healthy pours and we were introduced to an excellent Peruvian rosé. The breakfast buffet has a huge selection of choices whether you want to eat healthy or dive fully into vacation mode. The location of the property is terrific. We found a few things we weren’t happy with: the shower water pressure is not good and the temperature control is suspect. And the shower is ahhh-body-parts-inadvertently-banging-against-the-cold-shower-glass tiny. So tiny that when we got on the Belmond Andean Explorer train following our Cusco visit, we were happy that our cabin’s shower was bigger! Towels and bathrobes are terribly worn and thin. The room's carpeting has been updated, but the cabinetry is a bit dinged and could use a refresh. The room’s illy coffeemaker was old and could also stand to be replaced. Breakfast is a bit of a zoo with the hordes of tourist groups, and the service was terrible. We ended up going out for coffee because the hotel’s coffee drinks were really bad. They do have an indoor pool but it is quite small, and if there are more than four people there it would not be a pleasant experience. When we poked our heads in, there were at least eight people sitting around and in the pool, including one jerk yakking on his phone in a chair while some poor girl was sitting nearby getting a spa treatment. While our stay was “fine,” we thought that overall this property didn’t quite reach the level of what we were expecting, so we’d probably try a different property next time.

We spent two nights at the end of a wonderful 10 day trip to Peru. I was traveling with my daughters and my girlfriend. The location of the JW marriott was very close to shopping and the lovely main square with tons of restaurant options. I cannot say enough about the delicious extensive breakfast buffet! So many options. The rooms were lovely and comfortable. The hotel lobby is beautiful as well. The staff very friendly too. Overall a great experience.

From the moment we walked into the hotel until our check out ( and we had 2 stays within 6 days), the front desk was excellent in assisting us in every way. Like most guests there, we had several excursions where we are looking for drivers and guides and they’re looking for their parties. They were great in making a phone call for our guide at 4AM and it’s so helpful to have them SPEAKING SPANISH for us or translate!! They were attentive, informative, polite and professional. I’m sure they don’t get enough credit, but all of the staff at the desk were wonderful. Also, the nice gentleman that would be setting up the breakfast buffet was kind to get fill my water bottle with ice each morning when he was already busy setting things up. I had written names down to be sure and acknowledge these folks personally, but that list is gone forever. I hope to return to this wonderful city and have the opportunity to stay at the JW Marriott next time! Gracias!!

Fabulous stay at this hotel. Rooms are luxurious, and staff is super friendly and helpful and cheerful. Take the tour of this former convent because there is such an interesting history. Lots of attention to detail makes your stay extremely pleasurable. The courtyard is a calm retreat and offers local handiwork, herb garden, and cute Panchita ( baby llama) with whom you can get lovely pictures. Pool, hot tub and spa are wonderful. Breakfast buffet is large and varied. Lots of other unexpected perks that enrich your experience. It’s located about 4 blocks from the main plaza so quick access to San Pedro market and lots of other cool archeological sites. Highly recommend!!!

Our family of 6 adults were booked here by our travel guide, Inca Expert Travel, for three nights at the end of our trip to Peru. The hotel is very conveniently located and we appreciated its historic restoration with modern conveniences. We followed the advice of previous tripadvisor reviewers to make sure we weren't placed in the basement rooms without windows. The included breakfast buffet was one of the most extensive during our trip. We especially loved the family who brought their baby alpaca for a visit in the courtyard.

One of the best hotels I've ever experienced. A hidden treasure blended with beauty and luxury with a modern lifestyle touch, tucked away in a city rich in culture.

Of the many fine attributes of the JW Marriott Cusco, the blending of historical architecture with modern comforts and high design is most unusual and perfectly executed. From the soft lighting to the rich dark woods and stone in the public areas, the understated atmosphere distinguishes itself as belonging uniquely to the Cusco property. And that holds true all the way to the lower levels where the lovely spa is intimately nestled. Not only was the staff properly warm, friendly and bi-lingual, but equally important highly skilled at their duties (which is surprisingly not always the case in fine hotels).
