About the Hotel

Set against a hillside in the heart of Death Valley National Park, The Inn at Death Valley is a historic Four-Diamond hideaway that has welcomed guests since 1927, combining classic California-desert style with the unexpected lushness of a natural oasis. Date palms, flowering bougainvillea and natural springs surround the property, while accommodations range from refreshed rooms overlooking the gardens, desert or Panamint Mountains to private casitas tucked among the palms. At the center of the experience is the historic 87-degree spring-fed swimming pool, complemented by cabanas, sauna, tennis and pickleball courts. The spa offers massages and body treatments including hot-stone therapy, reflexology, salt scrubs and aromatherapy. For dining, the elegant Inn Dining Room serves classic cuisine for breakfast, lunch and dinner, with the option to dine on the terrace and take in unobstructed views of the desert salt pans, Panamint Mountains and evening sky.

Unbelievable Desert Oasis

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 day ago

Two couples stayed one night while passing through Death Valley. Our room was on the terrace, which was extremely picturesque although you have to go outside to access it. Our traveling companions room was on the third floor and slightly smaller. The facility is beautiful and the staff is courteous and helpful. They have managed to combine a rich and classic history with modern amenities. The grounds are lush and totally unexpected in a desert setting. Many posters have included pictures of the building and rooms, so I am going to post some photos of the grounds. Also, don't forget to check out the tunnel from the basement level to the parking lot. Highly recommeded. FYI - there is a charging station on premises and a gas station on the other side of the road.

How you feeling? Hot! Hot! Hot!

The Inn at Death Valley is a very nice place to spend the night. Rooms are clean, staff is professional and friendly, location is perfect to do all tours. The restaurant was very nice. My only warning is when the heat is extreme as it was when we were there (120F) the room can only cool down so much. We shut the bathroom door to help the AC so our bathroom was quite hot and there was no cold water because everything was just crazy hot. I am glad we went here in the heat, I wanted to experience it. The lobby and restaurant were quite comfortable and our room was fine to sleep in. The history of the Inn is quite interesting as is Death Valley itself. We only needed one night but really were surprised how much we enjoyed our stay.

Absolutely worth the journey!

If you want to see Death Valley, a night or two here is a must. The hotel is one of two in the same group (the other being the much bigger and more "glitzy" Ranch at Death Valley). To be charitable, you could describe the Inn as "characterful", but also perhaps a little "tired". The Ranch has many more facilities (available to Inn guests), and is a short drive down the road for guests at the Inn. Just be aware that in August at least. It is hot. Really, REALLY hot. You will not be outside enjoying the swimming pool, even late at night or in the early morning.

Fab hotel

Really beautiful hotel with fabulous pool and food. Stayed just one night in our California road trip and so far, this has been my favourite hotel. Luxury beds, gorgeous decor, lovely staff, amazing pool and surroundings, well equipped gym and sister hotel only a few mins away to buy provisions. Great location to do all the sights, only wish we’d stayed longer.
