Nice building

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

The building is very nice. Also the room and service was great. However the food was a big let down both dinner and breakfast. They are a long way from being five star. They apologized for the food on check out and gave us a bottle of champagne.

An old address not up to its reputation

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

My three nights at this well-located, prestigious property turned out to be disappointing, as the Normandy did not live up to the expected standards. A./ Visible maintenance issues: burnt-out light bulbs, torn bedding, a curtain with holes in it (see pictures). Not major investments to fix, but details that should be identified and addressed . One wonders how such issues can be overlooked during routine room inspections. B/ Lack of service: no one available to assist with luggage upon arrival by car, no evening turndown service, no replacement of the laundry bag or form after use, no beach towel provided. C/ Bad room features: only a bathtub with a handheld shower head that could not be mounted at standing height, making it awkward to take a simple shower, toilet unseparated from the bathroom area. To finish on a positive note, the staff were consistently friendly and courteous. Housekeeping maintained a good level of cleanliness, and the hotel's location is outstanding, just steps away from the beach, casino, or town centre. I was also fortunate that the air conditioning in my room worked well, which was particularly appreciated given that we were staying during an intense heatwave. But the AC did not seem to function properly everywhere, and some areas, including the restaurant, were uncomfortably warm. So, the positives were outweighed by numerous shortcomings. The Normandy remains an iconic property with a great location and genuinely pleasant staff, but it currently feels out of step with the luxury standards it advertises. For the price charged, I expected significantly better. Sadly, I would not recommend it in its current state, given the impression that the property is gradually losing its former shine.

Excellent stay at this classic hotel!

We had an excellent two-night stay at the Hotel Barriere Le Normandy Deauville! We loved the character of this historic hotel, which surrounds you the moment you step into the lobby. Our room looked over the tennis courts, equestrian facilities and beach, and each evening we received the gift of a beautiful sunset. Our king room was efficiently laid out with a small sitting area to the side of our comfortable king bed. The bath was clean and well-maintained, with a combination tub and shower typical of European hotels with a half door to shield the room from shower spray, a luxurious rain shower head and handheld shower head. The tub is raised and requires a big first step; use caution and find handholds to support yourself on the way in and out. We were served elegant meals with impeccable service at their restaurant and enjoyed the fresh air and sun with lunch on the patio. All of the hotel staff provided great hospitality throughout. Thank you to all at the Hotel Barriere Le Normandy Deauville. We hope to see you again soon!

We just returned from France this week. For part of our trip, we had purchased a package at the Normandy Barriere through Luxury Link. The package and the property looked very enticing, and I can truly say that the reality of the experience far exceeded our expectations! When we arrived in Deauville after our drive from Paris, there was a chilled bottle of champagne, a large plate of fruit and an assortment of sweets. The room was opulent with a bathroom to match. We felt wonderfully pampered, and the staff at the property was terrific. It was delightful leg of our trip and we will be returning to Normandy Barriere in the future.

The Normandy Barriere resort in Dauville, France, was a total delight. We went during the off-season and enjoyed the beautiful beaches and surrounding countryside virtually to ourselves. The hotel itself was gracious and very comfortable, and our suite was a pleasure to return to at the end of the day. We were so delighted with our Deauville experience that we have booked to return in the spring.
