Don't waste your money

We obviously arrived at a busy time and so no-one greeted us in the lobby. The reception desk was empty. Eventually someone arrived but just ignored us and started doing something on the computer. I addressed her and she looked surprised. I said that no-one was helping us to which she replied that her colleague would come shortly. Eventually with still no-one helping us, she started checking us in. Then her colleague came and took over. She was very efficient and showed us to our room. The luggage came quite quickly thereafter. However, we had the worst night's sleep ever - even the overnight Brittany Ferries was quieter and more comfortable. There was a baby screaming incessantly in the next room. By 23.00hrs it was unbearable; we phoned downstairs and they basically said there was nothing they could do. The crying from next door had been going on for > an hour at this stage and we wanted to go to sleep. 20 mins later a manager called and offered to move us. We were already in bed and didn't really feel like getting dressed and packing all our stuff at 23.30hrs. They should have moved the crying baby. The manager offered us to stay an extra night for no charge - a pretty worthless offer as most people staying only one night will have travel plans. It would have been a much more appropriate offer to give us a refund or a partial refund for the > Euros 500 that we paid for the sleepless night. Not even a courtesy bottle of cider on checking out! Nothing. We had to sleep with ear plugs in and even then, I was wide awake from 05.30hrs with the crying baby in the room next door. The baby was still crying when we checked out at 11.30hrs. It was just horrible. We went for a drink in the bar after dinner and sat there for 15 mins, but no-one served us so we gave up and went upstairs to bed. Basically it is a big hotel that wants to be grand, but the service is terrible and the noise is awful. It wasn't just the screaming baby; doors slamming in the corridor all night long. I would never recommend this hotel to anyone.

Poor service

What a disappointment - on a beautiful evening in April we had a drink on the terrace at the Normandy Hotel. For €25 euros for a glass of Sancerre you expect good service but no - the service was terrible. It took 45 minutes to get served and when the drinks arrived they told me they had run out of Sancerre - they palmed me off with a glass of Chablis. It took 40 minutes just to get the bill by which time my family had all left - I was left on my own. If I had not mad a fuss I would still be there waiting for my bill. I think most of the staff were new.

Overpriced

This is a beautiful hotel and staff was accommodating. I can’t give 5 stars because the prices didn’t equal the amenities. An example is 24 euro for glass of wine. 40 euro for cheeseburger.

Perfect hotel.

Love this hotel. Great location, within walking distance of shops and restaurants. Very friendly staff. Room has air conditioning and a thermostat! (our previous hotel in Normandy did not, room got hot, no screens on windows).

A relaxed sophisticated getaway!

My husband and I stayed three nights at this beautiful hotel. We were upgraded to a junior suite upon arrival and our room exceeded expectations. The service was truly perfect! The breakfast buffet is a feast for everyone and the hotel bar service is delightful. Friday night offered a talented pianist which added to the relaxed atmosphere. Thank you!

We just returned from France this week. For part of our trip, we had purchased a package at the Normandy Barriere through Luxury Link. The package and the property looked very enticing, and I can truly say that the reality of the experience far exceeded our expectations! When we arrived in Deauville after our drive from Paris, there was a chilled bottle of champagne, a large plate of fruit and an assortment of sweets. The room was opulent with a bathroom to match. We felt wonderfully pampered, and the staff at the property was terrific. It was delightful leg of our trip and we will be returning to Normandy Barriere in the future.

The Normandy Barriere resort in Dauville, France, was a total delight. We went during the off-season and enjoyed the beautiful beaches and surrounding countryside virtually to ourselves. The hotel itself was gracious and very comfortable, and our suite was a pleasure to return to at the end of the day. We were so delighted with our Deauville experience that we have booked to return in the spring.
