Royal Barriere Hotel

Something right out of a Roald Dahl novel or a horror movie. Mr. Francois from reception was very nice. Other staff were generally good as well. Rooms were almost dilapidated however. Bathroom was borderline archaic and looks like it was from half a century ago. Lots of furniture in the room needs to be replaced. Soundproof was awful. Concierge recommended me to a not so great restaurant for dinner but made up by recommending me a good quiet beach and a restaurant near it the next day. My advice is to eat in neighboring towns instead of Deauville for good food. When I came back at 4pm my room wasn’t even cleaned despite me hanging “please clean room” on door handle. It was clear that my room has been entered into since they delivered my dry cleaning and cleared the in room dining tray but did not even bother to clean the room or even close the windows. But they quickly made up for it. Overall I found the hotel quite expensive.

Our stay at the Royal Barrière Deauville was absolutely fabulous. From the moment you step inside the hotel you are surrounded by old world elegance. From the welcoming staff at check-in, the magnificent lobby, the and its ideal location makes this a true grand dame hotel. We stayed on the top floor in an incredibly spacious room that boasted a spectacular, panoramic view of the sea. Waking up to the sight of the water as well as watching the race horses exercise early in the morning and late afternoon along the beach from our window was unforgettable. What truly sets this grand hotel apart, however, is its world-class concierge team. They operate at a level of hospitality that is hard to find anywhere else: Fabien is an absolute miracle worker. He used his incredible local connections to secure us the best and most amazing table on opening day at the coveted panoramic restaurant (La Toque) during the Meeting de Deauville Barrière. Dining while watching the exhilarating races right from our table was an absolute highlight of our trip! A big big thank you to the marvellous Fabian! Laureline was able to secure us our dinner reservations that we requested ahead of time, at very in demand restaurants! Antonin was so patient and charming in answering all our questions, letting us know other places to visit outside of Deauville and securing taxies when they were not available. Between the stunning coastal views, the majestic historic atmosphere, and the elite care from Fabien, Laureline, and Antonin, this was an unforgettable experience. We cannot wait to return!

we spend 4 days at the hotel in a room that was supposed to be the only one left with Airco with Sea View for the price of 950 Euro a night: We felt catapulted 40 years back in time ........the breakfast was served in the Garden in a Hitchcock setting. as soon as we left the table to go to the buffet seagulls invaded our table:we had a magician that cleaned our room who magically let the remote controle and the bathrobe disappear. In the evening we wanted to enjoy a glass of Champagne in the Bar but even though there were 2 people working behind the Bar, nobody ever made an attempt to take our order; When we checked out the bellboy forgot one of our bags in the room; while we were already two hours away from the hotel we got a call that WE forgot the bag in the room so they suggested to send it to us on our OWN expense. A week later the bag is still not here . Long story short : Never again

The room was not ready until 5pm; we had arrived at 1pm. Room was and is meant to be ready BY 3pm. What is worst, when my wife asked at 16.30 pm when it might be ready, for the 3rd time, she was told 'they do not know when' which was frankly appalling communication. I then attended the check in desk visibly angry, and a much more polite member of staff did spend 30 minutes to sort it out. I also had to remind them 3 times to charge my car, but it did happen eventually. Pity because we used to love the hotel and the staff, but a 2 hours wait, after a very long drive, for a one night stay, was not worth it at all. I do wonder if they had just authorised late check out for the previous family, at our expense, though I had checked in online and given them estimated time of arrival 1-2pm so that the room would have been free early. Final issue, no gesture to make up for the terrible check in, just a feeble 'I am sorry' when we checked out.

Extraordinary hotel in an exceptional city. A grand hotel with a magnificent history that offers a perfect blend of the classic and the modern. This hotel stands apart for many reasons but two of them are the careful attention to detail at every turn 9 the smallest item was anticipated and available. The staff was attentive and smiling. Warm friendly welcome with bellmen and reception staff. Escorted to our room with wonderful vies of the forever beach. The room was large, expansive with a grand bathroom with a 'to love' shower. Meticulously clean. Breakfast was first rate and well above many other fine hotels with great variety and foods to please everyone. The bar area, the piano music and the drinks perfectly fit the tone of this 5 star hotel. Surrounding the hotel is the very French but oh so welcoming tone of Deauville with Tourville just a short walk away. Excellent local restaurants with strong recommendations from the concierge - loved dinning with locals and few if any tourists at Marion Restaurant and Le Countair de table for two examples. The gem however is the Hotel Normandy. A grand hotel that befits its name and with its sister hotels the Royal and Hotel de Golf, this is a hotel well suited for both corporate programs and high end leisure clientele . 5 star in all respects
