The Henderson Beach Resort & Spa

If I would’ve written a review two years ago, I would have given the Henderson Beach Resort five stars. The experience was amazing and the place was bustling at that time. We booked a weekend getaway, recently and were truly disappointed. Firstly, when I called for a reservation, I was given the number to the Primrose so I could book a dinner reservation, which was recommended. I called several times over three days and left messages, but no one ever returned my call. I finally called the hotel to speak with the concierge to book the dinner reservation. Secondly, check-in is not until 4 PM but by the time we unpacked and got settled, the poolside bar was already closed on a Friday night at 6 PM. We swam in the adult pool, which is beautiful, but it was littered with plastic cups and towels scattered around the pool area with no staff in sight to maintain the area. After a swim, we decided to go down to the hotel bar and listen to some live entertainment, which was supposed to be playing until 10:30, but when we walked in the door, they were packing up at 8:45. We finally opted to call it a night and head up to the room to watch a movie and get a fresh start in the morning. We climbed in bed and turned the TV on and the cable was not working. Maintenance did come up quickly to resolve the issue, but by then I’d had enough and wasn’t willing to spend a second night for the kind of money they were charging. We did eat breakfast at the Primrose, the next morning, and it was wonderful. We went for a dip before heading out, but had to wait until 9 AM when the adult pool opened again. It really feels like the service and amenities have gone downhill since our last stay and The Henderson is not a resort for an adult couple. Of course, the view and beach are gorgeous, but I don’t need to spend $700 a night after fees and taxes, to enjoy a beautiful day on the Gulf.

I got to tell you from start to finish Rron and Chris at the Horizon’s Bar were AMAZING! They made our experience just wonderful! The drinks were just great and their service level was top notch! Thanks for making our stay great once again! Jeff and Jamie

We recently took our family of four to The Henderson Beach Resort. We lounged by the beautiful pools and enjoyed the private beach that sits adjacent to the state park beach, giving it a feeling of just that much more paradise. The hotel was pristine and elegant, the dining was delicious from every restaurant on site, and we even treated ourselves to a spa day. Jason was a fantastic masseuse! Highly recommend! Additionally, Theresa gave the best pedicure and conversation. Look no further; this is your place. You can enjoy all that Destin has to offer from this magnificent resort.

The staff here is what makes this place exceptional! Taylor, the food and beverage manager, performs his job at a superior level. He insured we had a great experience at all the restaurants and beyond. He followed up with us, greeted us, despite working all hours of the day, and always made sure our experience was great.What a gem! Colleen, ensured that our experience at the rooftop bar and our sushi meal was phenomenal. She even made our daughter‘s birthday dinner extra special and took a care of us for evening cocktails as well. Rron and Chris, the bartenders, entertained us to the point where we were in tears. So personable and great at their jobs. They made evening cocktails super enjoyable! Mia, at the front desk, went above and beyond. When our flight was delayed by eight hours, and we were looking at possibly staying an additional evening, she went through every avenue to try to get a family of six in a room that would be comfortable. Susan, the concierge, was simply unbelievable. We had been in contact for approximately a week before arrival and she ensured that we had a balloon bouquet and flowers waiting for my daughter‘s birthday in our room. She also helped us book beach chairs. She said goodbye with a hug and even offered her home up if we had no place to stay for the night. They don’t make them like that anymore! The hotel itself was great and clean. Everyone from the Bell hop to the valet greeted us with smiles. The young men who were setting up the beach chairs were great as well. We only had one bad experience, and that was with the pool manager, Christina, who was rude to us. The rest of the pool staff was attentive, polite, and quick with our orders. Carson, the young man that was placed in the arcade, took such great care of our kids that they spent hours at a time there. He had fun with them and was definitely the highlight of our kids trip. We will definitely be back! Thank you to everyone at the Henderson!

We chose The Henderson for our daughter’s wedding with high hopes given its beautiful location and promises of luxury and service. Unfortunately, our experience fell far short of expectations on what was meant to be one of the most important days of her life. The staff at the Primrose while polite did not deliver. Key details we had agreed on months in advance were overlooked and poorly executed. Also despite the premium cost of the meal, we were served with inedible and shockingly small portion plates. Only to leave hungry and disappointed. The party left to warm up pizza from the fridge. It was embarrassing and completely unacceptable for such a special occasion. Also, other issues upon check in. They were late. The staff always was polite and said they would take care of it but never did. What matters is service reliability and follow through, in these areas The Henderson fell far short!
