Forty miles by seaplane from its legendary Per AQUUM sister, Niyama Maldives is a worthy newcomer. You'll find every bit of deserted island dream fodder here – tucked-away lounge areas that invite a nap by the water, overwater bungalows, infinity pools and a turquoise-heavy color palate that blends right into the horizon – but the array of indulgent activities also attracts a hip and active crowd.

I have just returned from Niyama, what an incredible place! So let’s start with the resort itself. Stunning island, lush plantation, powdery white sand, crystal clear water. Bicycles are provided to explore the island and cycling through the lush plantation is absolutely gorgeous. The food…we tried Nest. What a stunning setting in the tree tops. You must try it, a unique experience. Normally I stay well away from buffet dinners but their themed buffet nights are so good we had them most nights. Indian, Arabian, Asian, Mediterranean etc. There is so much to choose from it’s hard to try everything! The live cooking stations are fab! All really good! Breakfasts have plenty of variety and live cooking stations too. The rooms…we stayed in an over water villa. It was absolutely spotless and everything was well laid out and the view is stunning both day and night. Thanks to Adhil for keeping the room spotless and our coffee and popcorn supply topped up! Chilling out in the room, listening to our music whilst looking at the stunning view never got tiring. We were offered a free photo shoot which we thought was tacky but did it for a laugh…guess what…we bought all of the photos! Such great memories! Now what makes Niyama such a special place? It’s the staff. Each and everyone we came across was so helpful and gave us exceptional customer service. Our Thakuru YouKay was the best! What exceptional service! He booked our restaurants, photo shoot, massage, snorkelling and picked us up and dropped us back to the villa. He took time to get to know us and suggested what we might enjoy and he was spot on! Amazing service! We feel very lucky that he was our Thakuru! Honestly a star! Will request him every time! We also have to mention Imran, the coconut man! What a fun guy! He rides around the island offering coconut water from the fresh coconuts on the island. He is also the sweetest person and lovely to have a chat with! He made every day special with his singing, his music and his smile! The spa. I’m not really a fan of massages but thought I’d try one. Well 3 massages later I can tell you that the massage therapist May is amazing. Definitely try her massages, I would fly back just for that if I could! I persuaded my husband to go and he thought she was great too. There are too many people to mention here but thanks also goes to Pradeep Kumar (Executive chef) who was a great host and made us feel he had cooked the whole buffet especially for us!!! F&B manager, Steven, you provided excellent customer service. Triupathi our sommelier gave excellent details about the wines. Aso, you looked after us so well during breakfast. Sippe the best surfing instructor who brought my husband back in one piece!! And our gem, Meimei, the on site marine biologist who is so passionate about protecting the marine life. A lovely kind person who took my husband on a fantastic snorkelling trip. Even though there’s no house reef Meimei knew where to find the sea life! Thank you. Niyama, thank you. Our holiday feels like it was a dream. We will be back soon to experience your wonderful hospitality!

A beautiful island with secluded, private rooms. The bed was incredibly comfortable with beautiful bed linen and a huge bathroom. A quiet island with lovely presented food. The buffets were, IMO, more tasty than the paid restaurants. Loved the bikes to get around. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Other guests, less so. If you want privacy and are not bothered about mingling with other guests this would be a great choice. Surf was not great whilst we were there and very inconsistent.

This was a family trip for my 60th Birthday. Niyama didn’t disappoint from the moment we stepped off the seaplane to stepping back on it couldn’t have been more perfect. Picture postcard views exceptional service our concierge’s Imthy and Ammi went above and beyond to make everything amazing. I will never forget my Birthday snorkelling with turtles dolphins following our boat best day ever. Dinner at Edge and a video viewing on the beach with messages from my loved ones🥰our room filled with balloons a gorgeous message hand made covered the bed I was blown away. All the staff are so friendly and helpful we ate in most restaurants all were fabulous the Braai night on beach was amazing. Miss it all already so do my grandchildren it was paradise 🥰

Wonderful location, service and overall experience. We enjoyed ourselves immensely. 2 great surf breaks to play on, water clarity for diving was exceptional.

Fantastic for kids, loved the provision of age appropriate bikes with our names on. Staff were excellent, especially Steven the F&B manager and Aly our thakaru. Not great for marine life vs some other parts of the Maldives and the mosquitos were aggressive but overall we had an amazing holiday, despite quite a lot of rain!
