Mamun was amazing to work with. He was able to press our dresses and remove the lint within the time frame for us to make it to our party. We truly appreciate his kindness and effort. Thank you.

Where do I start with the Fairmont! Let's start with the positives. The hotel is gorgeous, ultra modern with some wonderful facilities. Definitely 5 Star. We were checked in by a lovely lady, I wish I could remember her name! We booked 3 Gold rooms and 2 were upgraded to larger ones Thank you. One was ready at 12pm which helped us put all the other luggage and then get ready to go to Idam for a special Christmas lunch. The Rooms/Suites themselves were all top notch, great layout with some fantastic features. Such as filling the bath with a touch of a button! And unfill with the touch of another button! Also, we had some nice cake, nuts and fruit to celebrate special occasions. Thank you. The Spa area was lovely and we enjoyed the indoor pool, sauna, steam room etc. The lobby itself was beautiful and the chandelier was and colour change was stunning! Now to the areas of improvement. We had Gold rooms and maybe our expectations were too high. But when you enter a dedicated lounge for guests who have paid to be there you expect a dedicated person to be sitting at the front desk welcoming you. However, there was no one sitting there ever during our whole stay! Often there were only 2 people serving. The lounge while we were there wasn't that busy, I dread to think what it would be like if it was busy. Ali one of the servers did a remarkable job in getting our mocktail drinks ready but it often took a long time as only 2 people serving the whole lounge. They should be so grateful how good Ali is as otherwise the lounge lacked warmth and atmosphere. On a positive, the mocktails and hot food selection was very good during the Golden hours of 5-7pm which is very short period. However, there should be more non alcoholic options such as non alcoholic prosecco, champagne, gin etc should be available. Many people don't drink now or due to being a Muslim don't drink but still want to enjoy an array of the non alcoholic options I only have one criticism of the Rooms/Suites and that is the toilet ,r stage smell and the washing facility was a minefield and even my husband who is a chief technology officer couldn't work it out! The breakfast area was the greatest let down. I was expecting that the Fairmont's breakfast would compare to the Royal Atlantis in Dubai, but it was nowhere near! The best aspect was a lovely lady called Arij Soltani and Mitha who were both very friendly and professional. Many others were cold and unwelcoming and requests felt like it was too much trouble! The food selection other than the pastry section (which was outstanding) was basic and not of a middle east countries vast selection we have gotten used to. Everyday, it was the same food and the chicken curry ran out! That is shocking. The food ordered from the menu was not nicely presented. The breakfast area often got really busy and the stress was shown on many of the staff's faces. One day I was told there was no room for my family of 5 and they would put me in another room. I walked around the breakfast area and found 2 suitable tables and ensured that I was seated in the main restaurant. One of the areas I was shocked at is when our car arrived more often than not there was no one to open doors! Also, when Samson was at the front welcoming guests into the hotel, that was very nice, but with a hotel of this size you need at least 2 or 3 Samson's! How guests are made to feel is incredibly important. When I leave an amazing holiday, I have so many names I remember and cannot remember who were outstanding in their service, however, at the Fairmont I can only rent a handful. Overall, most staff are great such as Charles, but the few that are not and the lack of Fairmont putting staff in the Gold Lounge, also where cars drive in, and lobby means you cannot give your staff that true 5 Star feeling which epitomises in those hotels which get it completely right. Would I come back? Yes, I would give it another chance to give me a full 5 Star experience as the Fairmont has the chance to be 5 Star Plus, but only if it improves it's guests experience and has enough staff to give a discreet 5 Star experience where each guests feel they are the most important guests in the hotel. You can do it.

Wow. This is an absolutely fantastic hotel. We were upgraded to the Shanghai suite and it was lovely. The staff were all superb and in room breakfast put most 5 star hotels restaurant breakfasts to shame. The fairmont gold pool was fantastic, and the staff were superb, however we were not impressed with the lounge as even though we had club lounge rooms we were asked to leave as some of our party were wearing shorts, tailored linen shorts with shirts, however a staff member told us that the gentleman could not show knees, I think it would have been much more professional that either when we were entering the lounge or leaving it to be told of the dress code, rather than party members being asked to leave whilst they were eating. I now understand why it was always empty!! The food offerings also of good quality but not much choice. The main hotel pool was great and the spa which is complimentary for hotel guests, rivals most paid spas. Would highly recommend this hotel. A true 5 star hotel.
