Stay at Chia Laguna - Hotel Village

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

My wife and our 2 children stayed at the Hotel Village and had a very poor experience with our Family Superior Room. The room was very dated and the air conditioning never worked during our stay making it difficult to sleep. We also had hot water that was dark brown for more than half a day after our check in. The beach is very beautiful but there are no attendants to help with getting chairs which were mostly broken and you needed to arrive early to even secure one. On a positive the food was good and the staff attentive in the restaurant. When we raised these issues with the front desk all we heard was that they are sorry. When spending 665 euros per night plus the cost of drinks one would expect better from a resort.

Not what it claims to be (uk reviewer)

If you’re coming from the UK or the US and looking for an international family-friendly resort, this is not it. Food & Dining We were allocated a small buffet area, which we tried a few times. The selection was limited and repetitive – typically three pasta dishes, one pork, and one vegetarian option. We had hoped to try the variety of restaurants listed on the website, but that simply didn’t happen. La Terrazza was fully booked throughout our stay, and the other dining venues didn’t offer anything remotely child-friendly. We ended up eating out nearly half the time, sometimes driving 30 minutes just to find a suitable option. Not ideal when you’ve paid for a resort experience. Service & Communication We were given incorrect information at check-in, including meal times. On one occasion, we turned up for breakfast at 9:50, only to be told it had closed – despite our welcome sheet clearly stating service until 10:30. Everything had already been cleared away. There’s no room service, and outside the buffet, the only all-day dining option was – you guessed it – La Terrazza, which we couldn’t access. It became a running joke how impossible it was to get a simple snack. Pool & Safety Poolside safety is poor. At peak times, there’s still just one lifeguard – who also serves as towel attendant, cleaner, and lounger organiser. You absolutely cannot take your eyes off young children. This is not a resort where safety feels prioritised. Another frustration: only 15 parasols around the kids’ pool for roughly 50 sunbeds. It’s baffling. Just a few more shades would solve the issue, but instead, it’s left to become a daily battle for comfort. Atmosphere & Staff Several staff members, particularly older men, spoke very little English. That’s not the issue in itself – the problem is the attitude. There’s little warmth, no effort to make children feel welcome, and a clear preference shown toward Italian guests. For a resort marketed as international and English-speaking, it’s simply not good enough. We raised these concerns at the time, but were mostly met with shrugs. It felt like they were tired of hearing the same complaints. Even when a manager personally promised to help us get a table at La Terrazza, nothing happened. No follow-through, no accountability. The Positives The highlight of each day was the coffee, ice cream, and evening entertainment – which was excellent. The dancing and singing were genuinely brilliant and made the evenings enjoyable. Our room matched the website photos, and while the air conditioning was barely adequate, the bed was comfortable and we had no major issues. Final Thoughts We had a good holiday – but not because of the resort. We made the best of it by exploring the island ourselves. Sadly, the team at Chia Laguna actually made us feel more like an inconvenience than valued guests. Do yourself a favour and stay elsewhere.

We chose Chia Laguna for our honeymoon hotel during our time in Sardinia. We had a very bad experience with that place and DON'T recommend if you are looking for a romantic place to stay.... POOR INFORMATION Firstly, the reception staff told us we can park our rented car in front of the hotel, as their car park was full and there was no other place to park, so we did and the day after, on our way back from the beach, we noticed tht our car had a dent in the back bumper. The hotel didn't have any CCTV cameras and haven't even apologized for the damage, which we assumed was cause by one of their 'beach train's. (On the drive way to the hotel, only the beach trains were allowed to stop, hence we assume it was one of theirs). STAFF Secondly, the cleaning services had either stolen or took by accident (we are not sure) my partners shorts. He left them on the bed in a clear view and when we came back from dinner the bed sheets were changed but no sign of his shorts. We've contacted the reception on the same day, they laughed in my face and pretended they cannot understand English. Since we don't speak Italian, I have no clue what the receptionist was actually saying to us. They didn't do anything about it despite us going to the reception 3 times in 3 different days. (At the end on the check out they said they can't even give us a discount onto he price for the stolen shorts...) We find it ridiculous because it was clearly their fault. We have never got them back. SPA and Swimming Pool The hotel on the website is presented as a SPA hotel, but there is no information that you can use the spa only for 2 hours during your whole stay. We were shocked to find out that info on the arrival. We booked the place for 2 weeks and couldn't use the saunas for more than 2 hours.... Shocking! The swimming pool was open only from 10 till 7 pm, which was also not mentioned while we booked the place. I have to say that the only GOOD thing about the spa was the quality of the massage. We booked two full body messages, very expensive but worth the price, so tht was indefinitely the best part of the whole place. FOOD The hotel offers a half-board option for booking, which includes breakfast and dinner in the price. The food was good, lots of variety for dinner options, however they don't tell you that they charge you for a bottle of water. The waitress just comes and asks: "still or sparkling?" And for the first 3 days we were just taking the bottle of still water until we found out that they charge you for that. Some information about tht would be good to know.... Again, very poor info about extra costs. For the next few days we took to dinner our own water bottles bought in the shop near buy. BEACH If you go to the beach, the pizza there is amazing ! We ended up going there for lunch almost every day. Apart from that - very nice views from the beach. In general, we were very disappointed with the reception staff being rude and pretending not to speak English once the problem either with out car or stolen shorts arrised. Very poor information about the extra costs and spa disappointment on the website and extremely annoying hidden costs of restaurant water... We do not recommend the hotel, absolutely gutted we even booked it, next time Airbnb seems a better option for the same price ....

Great Resort, Friendly Staff & Safe Environment

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 10 months ago

One of the best resorts I have stayed at. There is a lot of space plus swimming pools. The food is great & has a decent buffet which features great foods. The Staff are very friendly too. The Kids Club is very good & allows parents to relax for the day whilst your kids are in safe hands. The Entertainment is also good plus Bedrooms are clean & comfy. The only downside is you will need to take an hour taxi ride to the airport (Caglari) as the bus is very unreliable & takes nearly 2 hours!
