The rooms, staff and food were brilliant, but paying over £300 a night for no, spa, pool or gym seemed a bit much so not giving 5 stars

I've experienced the food and hospitality in a few occasions and this was my first overnight. The whole experience is 5 star. There is a special ambience all over the hotel and it remains a super location to relax, unwind and have a wonderful time.

We had purchased a dinner+B&B package to celebrate a special anniversary, spending a bit extra to ensure a good room.. Unknown to us, a relation phoned the hotel in advance to add to our package and the hotel of its own accord upgraded our room to a suite and added a plate of chocolate&dipped strawberries as a welcome gift together with a hand-written card marking our special anniversary.. The hotel and services were beautiful and the fixed-price dinner was a delight with little added extras to the menu such as a small cup of soup and a sorbet to cleanse the palate before the main course. In the hotel dining room, we were given a window table with a view of the lake and had the added pleasure of seeing a bride & groom walking to the lakeside for photos etc. The buffet breakfast the next morning was also very satisfying though we did not avail of the chef on hand to make fresh pancakes or omelettes. One of the drawbacks of a lakeside setting in warm still weather is flies and we were bothered by these in our suite which lacked air-conditioning with only two small velux roof windows to open to cool the room on a very warm night. Even though we were up on 3rd floor, we had to close these windows to keep out flies and make use of a large desk fan tuning all night to keep flis at bay. As it was, we were annoyed all night by flies landing on our exposed arms etc, a distraction to what was overall a pleasant celebration of our special anniversary.

Superb location. Had a few issues with accommodation in the lodge which were dealt with in a way that surpassed our expectations. Great customer service from a particular young lady on reception, blond hair, apologies did not get the name. Would return again and recommend to others.
