Built in the 1950s by Laurance Rockefeller, Hyatt Hacienda Del Mar started life as an exclusive getaway for presidents and Hollywood's elite. Situated on a secluded crescent of beach on Puerto Rico's northern coast, just 22 miles west of historic San Juan, its cachet is enhanced with the magnificent Spa del Sol and 4 golf courses designed by Robert Trent Jones, Sr. The beautiful, airy accommodations include elegant casitas and offer ocean views from private balconies or patios. Spectacular dining ranges from the oceanfront Su Casa hacienda to the Zen Garden, serving fusion Chinese-Japanese.

The service of this hotel is horrible . They don't consider any medical or family emergency . I had a reservation with this hotel and due to medical emergency i tried to modify my reservation but unfortunately hotel manager is ruthless . Mrs. Rodriguez who is the manager of this property doesn't willing to help her guest. So you have to pay the penalty regardless of the situation even you have DEATH in your family . i understand every hotel has cancellation policy but there is always exception to that in the event of emergency EXCEPT THIS HOTEL !! I guess this hotel manager NEVER had any family emergency !!!!!!

I felt welcomed the moment I stepped into the lobby and when I noticed a small isssue with my room I was moved immediately to another room. On my second night I noticed I could ask for a yoga mat, free weights and a sound machine which they brought to me to use free of change for the week. What a bonus this was. The front desk was kind, respectful and joyful! the grounds beautiful. I'll be back! The food at Mahi Mahi on sight was fantastic as well. Next time I hope to see the wild horses in the area!

Our family stay in April 2024 was exactly what we needed! The property is lush and beautifully maintained — think palm trees, sparkling pools, and plenty of spots to unwind. My balcony faced the ocean, and waking up to those views every morning was magical. The beach was just steps away, the pools were never too crowded, and the grounds felt like a true getaway. Whether lounging poolside or sipping drinks under the stars, this spot delivered peaceful island vibes from start to finish.I definitely recommend this hotel/resort!

I would never recommend the Hyatt Vacation Club at Hacienda del Mar in Dorado, especially if you have any medical needs—or simply expect basic clarity and honesty when booking. We booked this hotel through Expedia, thinking it was near our destination. Instead, it turned out to be 45 minutes away—something that was not clearly disclosed during booking. By the time we realized, it was too late. Worse, my fiancé is diabetic and needs refrigerated insulin. We could not check in because the hotel couldn’t properly accommodate this medical necessity. We urgently had to find another safe place to stay. I tried multiple times to contact the hotel to explain the situation—calling at 5:00 AM, 7:00 AM, and 9:00 PM—and no one ever answered. There was no way to speak to anyone or get help. Despite all this, the hotel has refused to refund us. This wasn’t about preference—it was about health and safety. Their complete lack of compassion, communication, and flexibility during a medical emergency is inexcusable. If you're traveling with any kind of special need—or simply expect basic service—do not stay here. There are better, safer, and more humane options elsewhere.

Spent 5 nights, wonderful grounds/pool, etc. Staff was pleasant as well. Room- had a 1 bedroom condo, full kitchen which we did not use. I slept on pull out sofa, not perfect but doable.on the 6th floor with nice view of pool/beach. the one restaurant was a down, but we took uber to other restaurants, actually saved money that way instead of renting. NOTHING is walking distance either. very safe property /gated entrance. There are a few wild dogs on premises that are not social, they are no bother. One day there were 7 wild horses on the other side of the property! very cool. I would recommend this hotel as long as you know there's nothing walkable close. price was right on. Lots of activities for kids. did the pool aerobics once/ the other time no instructor showed up.
