Shimmering like a mirage in the desert landscape of Dubai, the Meliá Desert Palm is an oasis of chic. Lush green contrasts dramatically with the surrounding sandscapes, and the architecture takes delicate cues from local design. From Palm Rooms to the lavish, private Villa Layali, accommodations here enhance your Arabian nights. Gastronomes will find reason to rejoice at Rare, where wood-fired steak and game are prepared in an exquisite show kitchen, and Red, serving fine antique vintages.

We had an excellent stay at the Melia resort. Stayed at the 3bhk villa with the swimming pool. Facing the polo race ground. Pony ride for kids. Half board package. Amazing time. Kids loved it. Food was good tooo!!

Dubai wasn’t originally part of our itinerary, but we were told if we stayed a couple of days it made a large difference to our air fares - a quick look on the trusty Melia app and Desert Palm was booked What an absolutely stunning hotel - if you’re a horse person this is definitely the place for you! The breakfasts were phenomenal and I don’t normally name staff in my reviews, but Nyi Min was incredibly attentive and an absolute asset to the hotel and deserves recognition We arrived after midnight due to flights, and the hotel was very accommodating having made contact in the app to alert them we would not be arriving until very late. We spent a full day by the pool relaxing which we did not anticipate, but the it was a very nice area to relax in and the chilled pool was very welcome! The niggly bits - truthfully my only criticism is the distance from anything - uber was about £17 each way (84AED) to the Burj Khalifa area, the airport was £40 (200AED) on arrival and £20 (100AED) on departure - we knew about the distance upon booking, but just for others If we find ourselves with a long layover in Dubai again, we will definitely be returning :)
